Afghanistan were terrific with the ball and in the field. Some good, tight bowling throughout was backed up by athletic fielding. Never gave away any loose balls and piled on the pressure. Not exactly the total Ireland would have liked on the board, but from the position in which they were, they'd surely take this. They got off to a steady start courtesy their openers, and were going on steady with Paul Stirling and Niall O'Brien knitting a solid stand. Both teams have had a bit of luck going their way but today they will have to pull up their socks and perform. Even though the Afghans were the better team today, Ireland did exceptionally well to take the game deep and make it such a close contest. They put in some good performances throughout the tournament and can keep their heads held high. Anyway, before these two teams can celebrate their entries into the World Cup, they have a final to play. He relieved the pressure with some vital hits at the right moments and along with Najibullah Zadran, who did his part, took Afghanistan home and into their first ever World Cup.
