326 needed to win for Australia to stay here and meet New Zealand in the first semi-final. India are already cruising against Sri Lanka in Leeds, so a loss here would mean that Australia would have to meet arch rivals and one of the tournament favourites England in the second semi-final. Not a bowler's day for Australia. They struggled from the very outset and only Nathan Lyon and Glenn Maxwell bowled decently, though they went for a few towards the end. Starc and Cummins got 2 wickets apiece but they were not at their best at all.

When your openers put on 79, that too, at more than run-a-ball, 9 out of 10 times, a good platform is set. Markram and de Kock set that platform and then du Plessis and van der Dussen made full use of it. Yes, the latter's stumping chance was missed on 4 but that is not his problem, is it? Excellent batting display by South Africa. Where was this against India and England? They needed this earlier on but at least, they have got it now. This is a very competitive score against an opposition which is relying on just its openers to score 70 percent of the runs.

PITCH REPORT - Michael Slater has a look at the wicket and reckons that this is the quickest pitch in England going around. Advises not to be put off by the straw colour, which might give the impression that it will be slow and dry. But informs that it is very hard underneath and hence chasing under the bright sky will be easier.

Australian captain, Aaron Finch, says that a week's break was nice, as the guys were tired after a hectic middle week of the tournament. Is pleased with Australia improving gradually in different parts of the game. Informs that the team is unchanged from the previous game. Is happy with Behrendorff and Starc working nicely with the new balls and the batsmen chipping in.

South African skipper, Faf du Plessis, says that he would like to bat first due to the wicket and because of a forced change. Informs that Hashim Amla misses out due to a knee injury and Tabraiz Shamsi replaces him. On the motivation for this game, Faf says that the Proteas have not played their best cricket in this tournament and would want to finish strongly. Is confident of a good show as he reckons that Australia-South Africa contests are always full of entertainment and action.

WEATHER - There are a few clouds around but no danger of rain is forecast.

It is match number 45 of the 2019 Cricket World Cup and it is significant for two reasons. First of course, it is the last league game of the tournament and second, it is the 100th time that Australia and South Africa will face each other in ODIs.
