Gibraltar will play Portugal in the second match of the T20I Iberia Cup 2019. Gibraltar are making their debut in Twenty international cricket, while Portugal are only playing their second match. Portugal made their T20I debut at the ICC Cricket World Cup European Qualifiers Region A where they lost four of the five games they played.

Portugal were also beaten by hosts Spain in the opening match of the Iberia Cup T20I 2019. They lost by eight wickets with Spain chasing down a target of 88 in just 14.2 overs. Portugal were asked to bat first and they could only post 87/7 in 20 overs with Najaam Shahzad remaining unbeaten on 27 runs from 30 deliveries. Only four batsmen managed to cross the double figures for Portugal with two of the opening three batsmen getting out for a golden duck.
