A slightly better batting display from England. But again, they have missed out on opportunities. As many as 5 chances were given to them - with 3 dropped catches, a missed run out and the infamous no ball dismissal of Stokes last evening. But still, no one could get a century. The 125-run stand between Buttler and Stokes was the only talking point of the innings and the moment the former was cleaned up this morning, England folded up like a pack of cards. They have lost 6/45 in 16.5 overs. Stokes' 79 and Buttler's 67 highlight the innings but the third highest scorer was Mr. Extras - 38 - 16 wides and 6 no balls dominating the list. Might be crucial given the nature of the pitch.

Roach was menacing, as he shrug off yesterday's bemoans to pick up 4 today. Gabriel was pacy and continuously at the batsmen. And now, the fact which makes this bowling attack look even more fearsome - the backup bowlers. If England thought they had only to see off Roach and Gabriel, they were wrong. Alzarri Joseph and Keemo Paul maintained the same intensity and did not allow easy runs. Finished with 2 apiece.

It has taken the Windies just 18.5 overs this morning to take 6 wickets. They were shy of luck yesterday and eventually, gave vent to their frustration. But this morning, they bowled with fine accuracy and have brought about another English collapse. 232/4, looking good for 350 at least, has ended 23 short of 300.

Well, Windies have a small headache in spite of such a terrific bowling effort. They will have to see off a nasty period of around 8-10 minutes before Lunch. Never easy those. But the time now, is to marvel on their improving and deadly pace battery.

A surprise short ball from Roach, given that the ball is swinging so much. But Wood is ready for it and instinctively goes for the pull. However, he is done in by it and gets a top edge. For a second, it seems like it will clear the boundary but Joseph runs to his right from fine leg and makes a difficult catch look simple. And better - NO reaction from him at all. Has been a difficult week for him.

He jogs after the cherry, from mid on and surprisingly for him, the ball stops. Poor man has to now put in the hard yards to get to the ball and that gives enough time for the batsmen to cross each other 4 times. That would have warmed up Wood nicely. 100 OVERS ARE UP.

It swings back in, takes the inside edge, hits the pads and boom. Into the stumps. So Bairstow was dropped on 2 and has been dismissed on 2. His poor run continues...

Keemo Paul is giving an interview to Daren Ganga. He says that he wanted to hit the straps early. On his progress, he says that he has been bowling well and hopes to make big contributions. On the pitch, he feels it's a good one where they have to hit the right lines and lengths. Mentions that they have to do the basics right and stay patient. On him replacing Holder, Keemo says that Jason is an exceptional player and he will try his best to contribute, not only with the ball but also with the bat.

We witnessed a terrific battle between bat and ball on Day 1 where the bowlers were on top for most parts, dictating terms. Luck was not on their side otherwise they would have run through in the morning. Their fortunes did change post Lunch where they picked three wickets but after that it was superb batting by the pair of Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. They are still unbeaten, eyeing their respective centuries, and are amidst a 124-run partnership. The hosts would like to use the early morning conditions with the second new ball (only three overs old) and create inroads. Will they succeed? Let's wait and watch.

Now then, what can we expect on Day 2? England will still have a few good batsmen to come so they will surely be aiming at something above 300 at least. The hosts on the other hand, will need to break this partnership quickly and then try and run through the remaining wickets. One probably feels, they need to keep the away side under the 300-run mark or anything above that, on this wicket, will be too much of a task. Windies on the other hand, will be very disappointed with their effort, both, with the ball and in the field. They were wayward with their lines a little too often. Their catching was below par which is proving to be quite costly already. Also, Stokes' wicket off the no ball probably sums up their day today. Keemo Paul however, was the pick of the lot. He looked threatening throughout and ended the day with two. Gabriel was also good but lacked consistency.

Day 1 however, did not start in the best of manners for the visitors. They lost the toss and were inserted. They scored very slowly for majority of the two sessions, their run rate was around the 2 runs per over mark. Once again the top three did not make an impact, Root too failed. They were reeling at 107 for 4 but Stokes and Butter's unbeaten 124-run stand, with both scoring half tons have seen England end the day as the happier side.

What a session for England! A wicket-less one and also the English side has managed to score 117 runs in this one. Excellent, especially how they have gone about today. They entered the final passage of play in a spot of bother but have ended the day on top.

England need a partnership. This is a pitch prepared for Stuart Broad, Mark Wood and Ben Stokes. Get through the final session, try and get close to 250-300 by tomorrow and you might well avoid a brownwash. Join us back at 3 pm local (1930 GMT).

The pitch has plenty in it. The grass is helping the seamers and the Windies are bowling their hearts out. If any criticism, it would be their flirting with the wide lines outside off. Agreed, that they are playing with the batsmen's patience but if they keep bowling in the areas just outside off, might as well cause more trouble.

After Lunch, the hosts threatened to finish it off quickly with wickets of Burns and Denly. But Root and Buttler dug in and almost saw off the session, when just before the break, Alzarri removed the English skipper. The home side might really start dreaming of batting tonight itself - Bairstow and Moeen to come next, if the Buttler-Stokes pair is dislodged cheaply.

68/3 in 24 overs in this session. Another one in Windies' favour. Their persistence is paying dividends and the game of patience is being won by the home side.

Windies will rejoice though as they have got the English skipper. A soft dismissal to be honest. It is short and outside off, Root looks to cut with no foot movement. It takes the faintest of edges and goes to the keeper. A stifled appeal follows and the umpire agrees. Root also walks back without taking the review so there surely might be an edge. His poor string of scores continues and a crucial breakthrough for Windies. This is Root's 7th consecutive innings without a half century for Root, his worst run in Test cricket so far. The tempter, full and outside off, Buttler can't resist and goes after it. The length however was not the right one to look for the drive and hence, the outside edge is induced. It flies in between second slip and first at a good height. Hetmyer in the former position jumps and stretches his left hand out but the ball kisses the fingertips and races over the outstretched hands of Darren at second slip towards the third man fence. It was difficult for Shimron but had he left it, Bravo at first slip, who is a little deeper might have had a better chance of catching it. Nevertheless, a reprieve for Buttler and he gets off the mark. He will surely want to make Windies pay for this now.

Roach was sensational. Gabriel was outstanding. Joseph was sharp. While Paul was nippy. But the fielding was slippery which cost the Windies a wicket or two. The drop of Jennings did not cost the home side much in terms of runs but the time he spent at the crease negated the effect of the new ball.

A session which did not have anything but had everything. Confused? Well, that has exactly what had happened here. A look at the scorecard tells you that nothing has happened - 46 runs in 26 overs. But look at the chances created, well, one would say, they should have been 5 or 6 down.

Keaton Jennings was not using his feet much throughout this innings and this time, he has to use them to transport himself back to the pavilion. The change of ball does the trick. Full and outside off, there to be driven, Jennings cannot resist. He goes for the drive, after being so patient for 76 minutes. But no feet movement brings about his downfall. A thick edge is induced on the outside and it goes straight into the bread basket of Darren Bravo at first slip. No mistake made and Paul is the first to strike.

Drinks break. A pretty slow hour. Both batsmen are jittery at the crease. They have batted for 16 overs but are not looking comfortable at all. One can smell a wicket anytime the way these two are batting. Windies have bowled really well minus any luck. One catch has gone down. Another didn't carry while an lbw wasn't referred. Joe Root says that he probably would have batted first and now sees this as a big opportunity to get a good score with the bat. On the team news, informs that Sam Curran has been left out. Adds that Keaton Jennings comes back at the top of the order to lend some balance to the team. On Mark Wood's inclusion, Root says that he is someone who can be hostile at times and in the last few days, he has shown great pace and rhythm, which has strengthened his case. Does not feel that there is any confusion within the team, and adds that everyone is pretty sure about their roles.

Kraigg Brathwaite says that it is one of the better pitches in the Caribbean and is looking forward to make use of the early morning moisture. Informs that Keemo Paul is a straight swap for Jason Holder, with like-to-like qualities. Stresses that the Windies are keen to win 3-0 and will not let the intensity drop.

PITCH REPORT - Daren Ganga has a look at the pitch and informs us that the average first innings score at this venue is just 329. Sees plenty of grass and adds further that in the last 6 games, 4 have produced results. Reckons that fast bowlers will receive plenty of help from this track, with batting proving to be a challenge. Finishes by saying that toss may not be too much of a factor.

What is life without ifs or buts? Same goes to Windies and cricket. They look poised to make a brownwash. But can they? They have not won three Tests in a row since 2012-13 (when they beat New Zealand, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe for six consecutive victories). Their last whitewash in a series of three matches or more came against England in 1985-86. Hmmm...

Sammy - the name itself inspires the Windies. Won two WT20 titles under him. It was at this very venue that Shannon Gabriel claimed a 13-wicket haul, last year. Add to it, England have never played a Test here. Their last visit came in 2010, when they beat Sri Lanka in the semi-final of the World T20. All the factors point to a 3-0 possibility, don't they?

A brownwash - ever heard of this term? Not that many times, because probably it rarely comes into play. But here we are, in 2019, under an inspired Jason Holder, Windies stand a brilliant chance of beating England 3-0. Only issue for them is that they are without skipper Holder - their leading run-getter in this series. Will it motivate them even more or will that give a chance for Ashes hopefuls in the English side? Either ways, we hope that we are not robbed off an entertaining game. Hello and a warm welcome to the third and final Test between Windies and England at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet in St. Lucia.

England now will look to build on this lead and with a lot of time left in the game, they will now look to bat the Windies out of this game. The hosts on the other hand, need to pick wickets and quickly as one would believe batting 4th on this wicket will not be easy. Dowrich and Roach did try to fight back with a frustrating 41-run stand for England but once the former fell, the lower-order did not contribute a lot, giving England a huge lead of 123.

After being bundled out for 277 earlier today, the visitors did not have the best of times with the new ball. The Windies openers looked at ease and added 57 for the first wicket. However, a lapse in concentration for Brathwaite began the procession. Campbell fell on the very next ball and after that Wood ran through the middle order. From 57 for 2, Windies were staring down the barrel at 104 for 7.

End of an excellent performance by England. Actually by Mark Wood and Moeen Ali I should write. It is the former who leads them off the field as he bags a fifer, his first in Tests and that too on return. A huge round of applause for him and he deserves every bit of it.

Broad however, runs backwards and then sticks his right hand out and the ball sticks. He then tumbles over and gets up with a big smile. He is now mobbed by his teammates. 4th for Moeen Ali and they are now one wicket away from wrapping this innings.

Stuart Broad to Alzarri Joseph. SAFE. Got to say, not the best piece of technique from Bairstow but that is how modern keepers do it. The ancient technique teaches you to collect the ball behind the stumps but not in this age. Full and around middle, Joseph swings hard but the ball swings in and goes off the inner half of the bat towards fine leg. The batsmen return for the second and the throw is a good one too. But Bairstow collects it in front of the stumps, then turns around and whips the bails off. It is referred upstairs and replays show that the extra second taken by Bairstow has given Alzarri enough time to make it in. Had Bairstow stayed behind the stumps, waited for the throw to come and then disturbed the stumps in front of him, he might have affected the run out.

England are red-hot right now. Just Shane Dowrich to come in the form of a proper recognized batsman. After that, it is just the bowlers. Unlike the Windies, the new ball could not quite work for England. They were getting very desperate and Campbell's counter-attack led to more frustration. Then, that masterstroke from Root to get Moeen Ali paid rich dividends. At 57/0, things looking down and out, and how tables have turned. First Moeen struck twice in an over and then Wood struck thrice in the span of 15 balls to leave Windies reeling.

15 wickets have fallen in this match now, in 5 sessions. 11 of those have come today itself. This Test has suddenly kicked up alive. Who says that 277 is not competitive? They might have to eat their words!

Bowls it full and around off, Hope looks to drive but ends up playing inside the line. The ball flies of the outside edge and towards gully. Burns takes it. Wood already seems to make a difference here. The X-factor England were missing seems to be visible here in Wood's first five balls. Windies now in big trouble here.

Replays show that the on-field call has to be overturned. John survives to fight another day and Anderson is not happy as he walks back in frustration.

Safely negotiated. A tricky period of 18 balls or 10 minutes - whichever way you look at it. There was swing and seam movement but Brathwaite and Campbell have done well to negotiate both. Earlier on, a ton from Root and 50s from Denly and Buttler ensured England can end the Test tour on a high. Windies will have to really bat well and show some composure. Rather quickly than one would have expected but the declaration has been called. The intent was there from the start as Stokes was leading the charge. He will be stranded on 48* but that won't matter much. The visitors have batted for just 5.2 overs in the morning and set the Windies a target of 485.

We are ready to begin Day 4. The players and the umpires are out to take center stage. Kemar Roach will bowl the first over while Root and Stokes will continue from where they left.

Darren Ganga with the Pitch Report. He starts off by saying that he expects some showers in the last two days. As for the surface, he feels that the lateral movement has increased day by day and with some variable bounce. Michael Atherton alongside him feels that the second new ball was a key and there was spice and pace still left on the wicket. He reckons that the game situation did not allow them to have a true indication of the wicket and he expects the story to be different when a full strength England comes out to bowl unlike the Windies bowling which was depleted due to injuries.

The only question that everyone wants the answer to is, when will England declare? They have managed to swell the lead to 448 and are comfortably in the driver's seat. One would feel that they will bat for an hour or so and then put the hosts to bat, keeping weather in mind. For the Caribbeans, they will hope to get a couple of wickets early and then try to wrap up the English lower order. However, seeing the way they batted in the first innings, things don't look pretty for them. Let's wait and see what this Test has in store for us.

No juice? Does that mean Windies can draw this Test? Well, anything is possible in cricket. But it will require a huge amount of determination and mental strength to do that. Stretching exercises going on for the Windies. They have toiled, toiled and toiled hard, being a bowler down, with Keemo Paul hurting his hamstring very early in the day. Gabriel and Roach bowled their hearts out but this pitch does not have as much juice in it now as it had yesterday.

A boring but proper day of Test match cricket. The fielding team strikes first ball, then meanders along, allowing the batsmen to settle and then the batters bed in. Burns, Jennings and Denly missed out on big knocks but not Root. He ensured that he stayed till the end of the day, forging a partnership with Buttler and then with Stokes, reaching that elusive hundred. Buttler played well and was looking good for his own century but got a jaffa from Roach - a rarity the whole day.

The Windies players get across and shake hands with Joe Root, acknowledging his effort - one of pure class. He has batted for a major part of the day and one would admit, taken the game beyond Windies' reach.

The pitch has looked a bit on the flatter side while the bowling has looked the flattest of the series. The fact that the lead has already crossed 300 is not helping to boost the Windies' spirits and one need not be a rocket scientist to tell that they are simply waiting for a declaration.
