West Indies vs England Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - T20I Commentary
72 to win. How long? Powerplay? 10 overs? Will we witness any fight from the Windies? Stay tuned for the reply.
Without a doubt, David Willey is the talk of the town, with 4/7 in 3 overs. His good work enabled the others to feed themselves. Wood got a 3-fer while Rashid helped himself to a couple.
The misery continued post Powerplay as the home side simply could not muster any strokes or patience to at least try and bat out the 20 overs. Wickets fell like ninepins with only four batsmen reaching double digits. 6 fours and 3 sixes were all that the hosts managed.
Holder chose to bat today, given what happened in the previous game, with the pitch expected to quicken up in the second innings. The first few minutes were the key - but the top order was opened up inside 27 balls. Willey ran riot and the Windies were 24/4 inside the Powerplay.
Sigh. Consecutive innings. All over in a flash. Windies have produced yet another poor show with the bat, becoming the first side to be bowled out under 75 in two successive T20Is.
Adil Rashid to Obed McCoy. OUT! BOWLED! No need to go for the third umpire this time. The googly outside leg, McCoy looks to defend but cannot read the wrong 'un at all. Misses and the ball hits the off stump. WINDIES BOWLED OUT FOR 71!
Adil Rashid to Obed McCoy. NOT OUT! The third umpire feels that the foot is behind the line. Bairstow cannot believe it. The entire team was walking off and was almost at the ropes. Floated outside off, McCoy looks to swing hard but misses. Bairstow collects and whips the bails off in a flash and confidently appeals. It is referred upstairs and numerous angles are seen. Every time, it seems like there is nothing behind the line. However, the third umpire reckons there is something. Bairstow smiles and has a chat with McCoy as England get back to their fielding position.
Stumping appeal! England think it is all over. Referred upstairs...
Adil Rashid to Obed McCoy. FOUR! Over cover this time. Full and outside off, McCoy backs away to the leg side and carves it over cover. The fielder sweeping the off side runs across to his left, puts in a valiant effort to his left, tries to pull it in but in vain.
Adil Rashid to Obed McCoy. SIX! THUNDEROUS! The number 11 can bat too. A full toss, on leg stump, McCoy gives himself room to the leg side and smashes it straight back down the ground, just over the sightscreen!

Mark Wood to Sheldon Cottrell. A short ball now, Sheldon looks to hook but misses.

He is clueless about the leggie bowling offies and tries to adjust but is late. Timber. 7 down and we are just past the halfway mark.
Adil Rashid to Fabian Allen. SIX! THUMP! That has gone out of the ground. Full and outside off, Allen reaches out to slog, slips midway but still goes through with his shot. The connection is more than sweet and the ball goes over long on, out of the stadium!

The ball holds on the surface and goes off the face of the bat. Straight to Alex Hales at short extra cover. End of a very poor tour for Shai Hope in general - Tests, ODIs and even the T20Is.
The players are out in the middle and we are ready to play! John Campbell makes his T20I debut for the Windies and is out to open. Shai Hope is his partner. David Willey has the new ball in his hand and will bowl to Hope. Here we go...
PITCH REPORT - Daren Ganga doing the pitch report says that it is the same pitch used during the second T20I. Observes prominent dry rolled-in grass and expects the pace to be slow during the first innings and then quicken up during the second. Feels that the surface is still good for batting but batsmen need to adapt to the conditions.
Eoin Morgan says that he would have bowled first as that suits his team more. Is particularly stern about the expectations from his top order and wants to avoid another 20/4 situation. Is not quite sure how the surface will pan out today, hence wanted to bowl first. Informs that Liam Plunkett misses out for Mark Wood. Is happy with the series status so far as the wins have come against an extremely strong Windies unit. Reckons that the series has been very competitive with both sides learning a lot from the two matches.
Jason Holder says that it looks a pretty good wicket, hence wants to make the first use of it. Admits that the Windies did not bat well last time around, so this is a good opportunity to make amends. Informs that Chris Gayle misses out today and is replaced by John Campbell. Feels that it is the last international game before the World Cup, so wants the players to take note of the same.
TOSS TIME. Jason Holder flips the coin, Eoin Morgan calls it incorrectly and WINDIES WILL BAT FIRST.
WEATHER - It is slightly cloudy but there is no threat of rain. Only there was a bushfire not too far from the ground, an hour ago, reminiscent of which can still be seen in the air, with the scenes appearing hazy.
One thing which has stood out for England in this T20I series is their bowling. The tired legs of the Tests and ODIs have given way to some fresh faces and the new faces have done well. Chris Jordan will be on top of that list. The Windies, sadly, have slipped back to old bad habits, misfielding, dropping catches and then batting poorly. The 45 all out is still fresh in everyone's minds.
Final game of this long tour. How will England be feeling? Let us get this done and dusted? How will Windies be feeling? Having performed so well in the Tests and ODIs, we cannot lose so poorly in the T20Is. Different teams, different thinking. How are we feeling? Let the game begin! Hello and a warm welcome to the third and final T20I between Windies and England at Basseterre.
Right then! Tests to the Windies. ODIs shared. T20Is to the English. We have come to the end of a long tour of the Caribbean by England. A whitewash is probably what most cricket fans expected in all the three formats - to their luck, they got it only towards the end with nearly three quarters of the tour providing rich, entertaining cricket. England were thoroughly outplayed in the Tests by a resurgent Windies while the number 1 ODI team had to prove itself in the 50-over game, against an inspired Chris Gayle. The T20Is were perhaps an aberration with the hosts mentally tired and eager for some well-deserved rest before the massive World Cup. Do they stand a chance in that tournament? They sure do. Have England been given a reality check? One would assume so. Both teams have learnt a lot and have plenty to ponder in what could have and what turned out to be during this tour. On that note, we take your leave, hoping that you enjoyed our coverage. Looking forward to your company in the near future. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
It seems like a storm has taken over the Caribbean as the heavens open up. Morgan holds the trophy aloft with umbrellas alongside him, basking in glory and the rain. The crowd meanwhile, runs helter-skelter for shelter.
Victorious England captain, Eoin Morgan, is finally short of words when asked what could England have done better in this series. Praises different individuals for stepping up when required. On the team improving towards the end, Morgan says that even in the past few tours of the Windies by England, they have gradually improved with every playing match and 2019 was no different.
CHRIS JORDAN HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE SERIES. Says that it was a good series for him personally and adds that the team ended up having fun. Is happy with the fact that they could bowl out Windies under 100 twice in a row. Praises the entire team for displaying excellent variations with the ball, in terms of pace and lengths. Like Willey, Jordan too, is not seemingly bothered whether he gets a chance to play in the World Cup or not, focusing now on only giving his best.
DAVID WILLEY HAS BEEN NAMED THE MATCH FOR FIGURES OF 3-0-7-4. Says that his role is to try and swing the new ball and in this game, he found plenty of swing. Is not too concerned whether he gets a spot in the ODI World Cup and is only bothered about taking wickets while playing. Adds that he wants to continue taking wickets in the Powerplay.
Windies skipper, Jason Holder, feels that there was no drop in intensity but credits England for bowling well. Reckons that his own team did not respond or adapt well, a factor to be developed in the future. Wants his unit to work on its death bowling and the fielding - a bit complacent for now, according to Holder. Overall, on the entire tour, Jason says that Windies were brilliant in the Tests and ODIs but simply did not turn up for the T20Is. Stresses that he is happy as a skipper and is now looking forward to the tri-series against Ireland and Bangladesh in a couple of months' time, before the World Cup.
Nothing much to write about the Windies bowling. The fact that they bowled 2 maidens shows that had they batted out their 20 overs and scored around 120-130, we might have had a contest. But their batsmen were simply not prepared to adjust, as if wanting to end this tussle as quickly as possible. Please stay tuned for the presentation...
Chasing 72 should never have been an issue and it wasn't. Hales and Bairstow set out on the course for a 10-wicket win but the 16-run opening over was the only big over they got in the Powerplay. Boundaries and runs came at a premium but unlike the Windies, the visitors did not throw it away. Bairstow scored more than half the required runs and helped his team to a 3-0 whitewash.
It is sad that such a terrific summer has ended in a damp squib. The Windies started the Tests with a bang, followed it up with a competitive ODI series but then fizzed out in the T20Is. England, on the other hand, improved with every passing game and the results are there to be seen.
23.3 overs. That is all this game has lasted. A sorry outing for the home side and an even more sorry state of affairs for the crowd. Turning out on a Sunday, expecting a Gayle special perhaps for one last time in the Caribbean, only to get a pocket with a hole.
Devendra Bishoo to Eoin Morgan. FOUR! That ends the game. 3-0 to England. Full and down the leg side, the skipper gets down and sweeps it behind square leg.

John Campbell to Joe Root. Full and down the leg side, Root misses his flick and is hit on the pads. Campbell appeals for LBW and meanwhile Morgan looks for the single. Captain Eoin Morgan walks in for the finishing rites.
Devendra Bishoo to Jonny Bairstow. OUT! BOWLED! Bishoo gets a wicket on his very first delivery. The slider first up, around off, Bairstow goes back to try and punch it through the off side but is beaten by the pace on that one. The ball skids through and knocks the off stump out of the ground.
Devendra Bishoo gets an opportunity.

He initially goes with the fingers pointing upwards but then realizes that it is coming at his abdomen and tries to cup it. Late. Puts it down. A single taken.

Jason Holder to Jonny Bairstow. A short ball, outside off, coming in with the angle, Jonny looks to pull but misses and is hit on the body.
Jason Holder to Joe Root. England could have been two down in no time. A short ball, around middle, Root taps it towards mid-wicket and sets off for a quick single. The fielder comes charging in, has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Root was a goner even with a dive.
Joe Root walks in at number 3, replacing Hales.
Jason Holder to Alex Hales. OUT! That is a fantastic catch! Something to cheer for the Windies on this gloomy evening. A short ball, outside off, Hales looks to pull but gets more height than distance. John Campbell traces a few steps to his right and leaps to take a stunning catch near the boundary line!
