Bangladesh vs West Indies Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - T20I Commentary

End of Over : 20.0 BAN: 184/5

A good cameo from Mahmudullah helped Bangladesh to go past the 180-run mark. The visitors will back themselves as they defended 171 in the previous game. However, the hosts do have a power-house batting order. Promises to be an exciting finish to the finale. Join us on the other side of the break.

Carlos Brathwaite was the chief architect behind it as he outfoxed the batsmen with some shrewd changes in pace, picking up a couple of wickets in the process. Keemo Paul was also handy while Kesrick Williams bowled with good control. There was a passing shower but it didn't hamper the momentum of the visitors.

Bangladesh have posted a strong total on the board but they would have desired more taking into account the flier they got off to. It all started with Liton Das going bonkers from the word go. He played some eye-catchy strokes and scored a blazing fifty. The Windies pulled things back though as they picked up a few quick wickets in the middle overs.

19.6 2

Kesrick Williams to Ariful Haque. No ball! It's all happening here. A no ball for overstepping. He serves this outside off, Haque swings and misses. The keeper cannot collect it properly and the batsmen take the bye. However, the umpire feels otherwise as he doesn't signal the bye. Might have been an edge there. Free Hit coming up.

Windies skipper, Carlos Brathwaite says that he feels that toss is not a factor. Adds that they want to restrict Bangladesh to as less as possible and come out on top. Mentions that they have had a few individual chats. Announces that Andre Russell is fit and raring to go. Informs that there is one change - Evin Lewis misses out and Chadwick Walton makes the cut in his place.

Bangladesh skipper, Shakib Al Hasan says that they will bat first. States that it looks like a good wicket but it might get slower as back-to-back games are being played on it. Informs that they are playing with the same team.

TOSS - Bangladesh win the toss and opt to bat.

Pitch Report - Jeff Dujon assessing the surface says that there is a bit of sheen on the surface and it will play the same way it played in the previous game. States that the ball will come onto the bat and it will be conducive for strokeplay.

Hello and a warm welcome to the third and final T20I. Just like the Windies fought back in the ODI series, Bangladesh have bounced back with aplomb in the shortest format of the game. We all saw in the previous game how formidable a unit they are when they fire on all cylinders. Shakib Al Hasan will want his men to turn up once again. Windies, on the other hand, are a dangerous team too and you can take them lightly at your own peril. With the series on the line, expect every player to turn up the heat. Toss and team news coming up in a while...

End of Over : 17.1 WI: 135/7

The trophy has been handed over to Shakib, he along with his teammates are now seen taking pictures with it. A proud moment for him and his side. They have bounced back brilliantly after being thrashed in the Test series. Windies on the other hand will be disappointed in not winning the T20I series, a format in which they are surely amongst the best. Nevertheless they now have to put all that behind and focus on what is coming up. For now, it is time for us to say goodbye. We have loved your company and wish to see you around next time. Till then, take care.

Bangladesh skipper and Man of the Series, Shakib Al Hasan, says they showed a lot of character, especially after losing the first game. They take a lot of confidence from here and he hopes they can kick on. He further adds he was batting and bowling well throughout and he hopes it continues. Mentions they have been doing really well in the shorter format and this win will give them a lot of confidence when they play against other big teams. Ends by thanking the support that the crowd has given them.

Man of the Match, Liton Das, says he feels really good beating the Windies as they are the World Champion. The wicket he felt was really good for batting as it was similar to the surface back home. He thanks god and feels fortunate for scoring his first fifty in T20Is.

Windies skipper, Carlos Brathwaite, says they could have won the game if they had kept wickets in hand. Credits his bowlers to pull things back after the start Bangladesh got. Admits Bangladesh played better cricket and congratulates them. Ends by saying Rovman Powell's batting and Ashley Nurse's bowling have been the positives in this tour.

Powell and Ramdin did build a good 45-run partnership but it did not come at a rate which was required. Russell then came out all guns blazing, clearing boundaries at will and evoked belief in the Windies camp but he lacked support from the other end. His blitzkrieg meant the hosts needed 50 from the last three, something which other teams have managed to achieve in the past but his wicket was the final nail in the coffin. He fell prey to the most impressive bowler in this series, Mustafizur Rahman, who finished with another 3-fer before rain intervened once again. The Windies were 19 runs behind from where they had to be at the end of 17.1.

Another clinical performance by them. This time it was set up by their batsmen, Liton Das especially whose 32 ball 61 in the first innings helped his side set a target which was surely above par on this sluggish surface. With runs on the board, their bowlers came out and bowled excellent lines and length. Used all their variations to great effect and had the Windies 3 down with not a lot on the scoreboard in the Powerplay.

So that is it! The customary handshakes happening as the game has been called off and Bangladesh, courtesy the DLS method, have won the game and the series 2-1. Their players are out there and are having a complete ball. A few players performing some dance moves in front of the crowd while the others soak in the applause from their supporters. They deserve every bit of it as they have come out victorious against all odds.

Well, the rain is back! Bangladesh won't mind though as they are winning according to the DLS method. it is pouring down at the moment. Let us hope it is once again a passing shower and we get the remaining overs in.

17.1 W

Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. OUT! Game, set and match! It has to be, right? Well, looking at the way the Bangladesh players are celebrating, they surely feel so. A low full toss on off, not the easiest of deliveries to put away. Russell does try to hit it over the long off fence but it goes off the lower part of the bat. Ariful Haque there does really well to judge it and takes it just inside the rope with the fingers pointing towards the sky. End of a power-packed innings by Russell, he walks back dejected but he is the reason why the Windies have gotten so close in the first place.

Mustafizur Rahman is back on.

End of Over : 17 14 Runs WI: 135/6
16.6 0

Abu Hider to Ashley Nurse. Clever from Russell. He does not take the single as Nurse gets a thick outside edge towards third man. 14 from this over and they need half of 100 from the last three overs.

16.5 1

Abu Hider to Andre Russell. Full on off, Russell hits it down to long off for a run.

16.4 6

Abu Hider to Andre Russell. SIX! Russell continues hitting maximums despite losing partners. Another slower ball on off, Russell this time picks it and once you do that. It is a free hit. He waits for it and then smashes it over the long off fence.

Ashley Nurse strides out to bat.

16.3 W

Abu Hider to Carlos Brathwaite. OUT! Brathwaite holes out! Another failure for him. Excellent change of length by Hider. He bangs it short outside off, Carlos may not have expected it as his weight is on the front foot. He still tries to drag his pull but only gets a top edge which lobs towards long on where the substitute, Sabbir Rahman, cups it by taking a couple of steps backward.

16.2 1

Abu Hider to Andre Russell. Changes the angle and comes around the wicket. Bowls a slower one and Russell hits it towards deep mid-wicket for a run. Bangladesh will be happy with the fact that he is not on strike.

16.1 6

Abu Hider to Andre Russell. SIX! This one is colossal! WOW! He is keeping the Windies alive here. This is right in his arc, full and on middle, Russell tonks it over the long on fence. Pressure on the bowler now. They need this to be a huge over, a 20 run over or maybe even more.

In comes Abu Hider for the 17th over.

End of Over : 16 5 Runs WI: 121/5
15.6 0

Rubel Hossain to Carlos Brathwaite. Brilliant from Rubel Hossain! Just 5 from his last over as he finishes with figures of 4-0-28-1. He bowls it full and wide outside off, CB swings but misses. 64 from 24, the run chase now looks a farfetched one.

15.5 2

Rubel Hossain to Carlos Brathwaite. Still no boundaries in this over! Full and outside off, Carlos hits it through covers and the batsmen take two.

15.4 1

Rubel Hossain to Andre Russell. Another single! Singles won't do for the Windies. Russell clobbers this down to long off for just a run.

15.3 0

Rubel Hossain to Andre Russell. Now a dot! Very well bowled! Bowls it wide outside off, Russell maybe not expecting that line and hence lets it be.

15.2 1

Rubel Hossain to Carlos Brathwaite. The big man tries to be cheeky with a paddle scoop but misses to get hit on the pads. The ball rolls towards square leg and the batsmen run a leg bye. Good start by Rubel, just two singles from the first two.

15.1 1

Rubel Hossain to Andre Russell. Well bowled! A yorker one middle, it also tails back in. Russell tries to go big but gets an inside edge through mid-wicket for a run.

Rubel Hossain is back on.

End of Over : 15 7 Runs WI: 116/5
14.6 0

Shakib Al Hasan to Carlos Brathwaite. Loopy outside off, eased to covers for nothing. Shakib finishes another good spell. His figures read 4-0-22-1 and Windies need 69 off last 5 overs. Can they do it? Russell surely can! It's a test of nerves now.

14.5 4

Shakib Al Hasan to Carlos Brathwaite. Four Byes! Windies won't mind that. The uneven bounce in the pitch comes to the aid of the hosts. Shakib bowls a fuller ball outside off, Russell looks to get bat to it from his crease but the ball scrapes along the track and through the legs of Rahim behind the sticks. The ball races to the fence. So, after 3 singles off the first 4 balls, a boundary results.

14.4 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Andre Russell. Flatter again on the pads, flicked through mid-wicket for an easy single.

14.3 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Carlos Brathwaite. Slower on middle, punched to long on for another single.

14.2 0

Shakib Al Hasan to Carlos Brathwaite. Carlos has played that off the front foot and into the ground.

14.1 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Andre Russell. Flatter around off, pushed to covers for a run.

End of Over : 14 13 Runs WI: 109/5
13.6 0

Mustafizur Rahman to Carlos Brathwaite. A surprise short delivery by Rahman. Brathwaite does really well to evade it at the very last moment. 13 from the over. Just the rate they need to go at.

13.5 2

Mustafizur Rahman to Carlos Brathwaite. Slower ball on the pads, Carlos tucks it around the corner and some good running gets them two.

13.4 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. Back of a length, surprisingly, Russell plays a defensive stroke towards point for a quick run.

13.3 4

Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. FOUR! How strong is this guy? That has gone to the fence like a tracer bullet. Rahman goes full and outside off, Russell slaps it through covers off balanced, beating the dive of the fielder in the deep for a boundary. He is on a roll here.

13.2 6

Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. SIX! That is out of here! Get the bag of balls out. WOAH! What a hit! Length ball on middle, Russell walks across and hits it way over the long on fence. He is dealing in maximums and Windies would hope he does not stop.

Skipper Carlos Brathwaite is the next man in.

13.1 W

Mustafizur Rahman to Rovman Powell. OUT! In the air... taken! Another batsman pays the price for playing across the line. Never a good idea doing so, especially to Rahman who is always angling the ball away from you. He lands it on the shorter side outside off, rolls his fingers over it and slants it away further with the angle. Powell needed to go and hence, he tries to clear the mid-wicket fence with the pull. He only manages to get a top edge which goes high up in the air towards backward point where Hider settles under it and takes it. Half the side back in the hut for the Windies. The good thing for them though is they still have Russell out there.

Mustafizur Rahman is back on.

End of Over : 13 13 Runs WI: 96/4
12.6 0

Shakib Al Hasan to Andre Russell. Once again a dot after the biggie. Shakib changes the angle and bowls it from over the wicket. He pitches it outside leg and then gets it to turn into the batsman. Russell does not expect it to turn and shoulders arms but the ball hits him on the pads. No harm done in the end.

12.5 6

Shakib Al Hasan to Andre Russell. SIX! BRUTE! This guy is all about power and that shot is the perfect example. Shakib attacks the stumps and bowls it quicker. Russell clears his front leg and flat-bats it over the long on fence for the second maximum in the over. 89 in 43 needed now.

12.4 0

Shakib Al Hasan to Andre Russell. Quicker on the stumps, Russell keeps it out.

12.3 6

Shakib Al Hasan to Andre Russell. SIX! Russell has come out all guns blazing here. He goes down on one knee and with the angle, slog sweeps it over the mid-wicket fence for his second maximum.

End of Over : 12 10 Runs WI: 83/4
11.6 6

Rubel Hossain to Andre Russell. SIX! BANG! Russell has deposited this one into the stands. He says enough is enough as he goes deep into his crease expecting a short one. He gets one and he pulls it with power over the mid-wicket fence. 4,0,W,0,0,6 is how this over reads.

11.5 0

Rubel Hossain to Andre Russell. Good change in length by the pacer. He bangs it short and Russell is surprised by it as he ducks under it.

11.4 0

Rubel Hossain to Andre Russell. Good length again on middle, Russell tries to defend but gets an inside edge onto his pads.

Andre Russell is the new man in.

11.3 W

Rubel Hossain to Denesh Ramdin. OUT! TIMBER! The bowling change has worked for Bangladesh as another one bites the dust. It is a length ball which tails back in a little from outside off. It also skids off the surface. Ramdin clears his front leg and goes for the heave but misses it altogether. The ball clips the off pole. Ramdin starts walking back but he has been asked to wait as the umpire wants to check the front foot. Replays show it is fine and Ramdin is given the marching orders.

11.2 0

Rubel Hossain to Denesh Ramdin. A dot to follow the boundary! Good comeback by Rubel, he bowls it slower and outside off. Ramdin tries to go downtown but misses.

11.1 4

Rubel Hossain to Denesh Ramdin. FOUR! Starts off with a poor delivery, on the pads. Ramdin is good enough to put that away as he flicks it fine through the leg side. A boundary to begin the over, ideal start for the Windies.

Rubel Hossain is back into the attack.

End of Over : 11 12 Runs WI: 73/3
10.6 2

Mustafizur Rahman to Rovman Powell. A couple to end a good over for the Windies. 12 from it. Powell plays this well, he works it through square leg with soft hands and runs two. 112 more needed in 9 overs.

10.3 0

Mustafizur Rahman to Denesh Ramdin. Well fielded. Rahman shortens his length on off, Ramdin once again tries to guide it through backward point but the fielder there dives to his left and makes a good stop.

10.2 6

Mustafizur Rahman to Denesh Ramdin. SIX! Boom boom goes Ramdin. Rahman pays the price for bowling a touch too full. Ramdin clears his front leg and lofts it over long on for a biggie. 8 from the first two balls. They need to convert this into a big one.

10.1 2

Mustafizur Rahman to Denesh Ramdin. Nice shot! On the shorter side, it was the cutter by Rahman on off. Ramdin makes room and guides it through backward point for a brace.

Mustafizur Rahman is back on.

End of Over : 10 5 Runs WI: 61/3
9.6 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Denesh Ramdin. Ramdin flicks it away with a wristy shot. The batsmen have run through for a single. 61 off the first 10 and 124 required off the last 10.

9.5 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Rovman Powell. Brilliant effort in the deep from Haque. Bangladesh have been so active in the field in the last couple of matches and they made Windies work hard for their runs. Powell hoicks the fullish delivery to long off. Haque there runs to his left, puts in the dive and keeps them to one. Pressure piling up slowly but surely.

9.4 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Denesh Ramdin. Wide outside off, a touch short as well, Ramdin uses his long lever and punches it towards cover for a run.

9.3 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Rovman Powell. Worked through the on side for an easy single.

8.1 1

Soumya Sarkar to Rovman Powell. Full outside off, driven towards covers for a run.

7.4 2

5.6 W

Shakib Al Hasan to Marlon Samuels. OUT! You bet he can. Ends it by shattering the stumps. Yes, the ball did stay low but credit to Shakib for varying his pace beautifully. Bowled the last one a touch slow and on the fuller side. This time he bowls it quicker and on a slightly shorter length. Once again it is the arm ball as it comes in with the angle. Samuels goes back to punch it through the off side but the ball stays very low. Samuels is too late to adjust as the ball goes beneath his bat and hits the middle stump. He stands there in disbelief but then has to walk back. Third wicket in the Powerplay for Bangladesh and they now have the Windies in dire straits. They need another 153.

Soumya Sarkar to Chadwick Walton. OUT! What, really? Walton has hit that down the throat of the substitute fielder Sabbir Rahman at long on. A nothing delivery really, on middle and on a length, Walton lofts it off the front foot but gets more height than distance. An easy catch in the deep and Windies lose a wicket to the part-timer. He is ecstatic and so is the Bangladesh camp.

4.4 1

Oh no! This is unfortunate. Nazmul Islam has gone out of the field due to the injury on his left hand. Soumya Sarkar will complete his over.

4.3 0

Nazmul Islam to Marlon Samuels. Ouch! This will pain a lot. He bowls a floated delivery in line of the stumps, Samuels pushes it tentatively towards the mid on region. Islam dives to stop the ball to his right. He manages to do so successfully but Walton steps on his right hand while trying to get back in his crease. His fingers start to bleed straightaway and he is walking off the field to get some treatment. Really unfortunate this.

Rahman cleverly delivers this wide outside off, angling it across Fletcher. The batsman slices it from his crease. Abu Hider to Andre Fletcher. Fletcher rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball. The batsmen have run through for a single.

2.4 1

The fielder there runs in, collects the ball and has a shy at the stumps at the bowler's end but misses. The replay shows that Walton would have been gone had the ball hit but it wasn't to be.

2.3 0

Abu Hider to Chadwick Walton. The batsman has driven it straight down the ground.

2.2 2

Abu Hider to Chadwick Walton. Almost, almost a wicket. Just short of Sarkar running in from long on. A fuller ball on middle, Walton lofts it in anticipation to clear the fence but the connection wasn't there. The ball lobs towards the mid on region.
