Bangladesh vs West Indies Highlights And Cricket Score 1st Match - T20I Commentary
Everything till now has gone the Windies' way. The ploy to open the bowling with Nurse turned out to be a masterstroke. Their pacers also did their job well. Especially, Williams who finished with career-best figures. Paul also impressed, and Russell too bowled with a lot of steam. Badree though had a day to forget as he took a pounding from the Bangladesh batters. Overall, Brathwaite will be quite happy with how the game stands now and he will expect his batsmen to chase this down. Will they do so or will the visitors' bowlers come to the fore? Join us in the second innings to find out.
Bangladesh do manage to play out their twenty overs but it has not been a batting scorecard to look back at. After being inserted, they got off to worst of starts by losing both their openers for golden ducks in the first over. Shakib then was dropped in the next over but he too could not make most of the life as he and Das fell on consecutive balls, which meant Bangladesh were 4 down in the Powerplay. Rahim then along with Mahmudullah counter-attacked and the two added a quickfire 47-run stand. But once the former fell, the procession continued and the visitors finished with a total which is below par.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mustafizur Rahman. A single! So no boundary from the last over and only 4 from it. Carlos bowls another yorker. Rahman jams it out towards point for a run. BANGLADESH END WITH 143!

An off cutter on middle, Mehidy swings but only manages to get a top edge. The ball balloons towards Nurse at mid-wicket who runs in and takes a neat catch.
Keemo Paul to Mehidy Hasan. Eases it down to long on for a run.

Kesrick Williams to Mahmudullah. OUT! BOWLED 'EM! What a brilliant delivery by Williams! He has completely foxed Mahmudullah there. He comes running in and then delivers a slower delivery on a fuller length. Mahmudullah comes down the track but does not pick it. He is way too early into the stroke and the ball goes under his bat uprooting the off pole. Mahmudullah perishes after getting a start and Bangladesh are in a real danger to get bowled out.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mehidy Hasan. Yorker. Dug to covers for nothing.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mahmudullah. Tremendous stuff from Fletcher. He saves a run for his team once again. Mahmudullah tucks the length ball to mid-wicket and calls for two. The fielder runs in from deep and throws the ball back in quickly to stop the batsmen in their stride.

Mehidy Hasan is the new man in.
Andre Russell to Ariful Haque. OUT! Ariful Haque has been given the marching orders as he was cleaned up by Russell. This has landed on a length around off, Ariful tries to flick but it brushes his pads and then goes towards the keeper. He picks the ball up and then scores a direct hit at the non-striker's end to find Mahmudullah short. The umpire raises his finger but then asks Mahmudullah to wait as he sees the bail at the other end is out of its groove. They now go upstairs to check what exactly happened and replays show that the ball has clipped the bail before going into the mitts of the Ramdin. Ariful starts walking back and probably takes Bangladesh's hopes of reaching a good score along with him.
Now then! What has happened here? Mahmudullah has been run out at the bowler's end but has Ariful been bowled before that? They are going upstairs to check. One thing though is for sure, one of the batsmen has to walk back.
Andre Russell is back on.

Kesrick Williams to Mahmudullah. FOUR! Another gift! Down the leg side, Mahmudullah tickles it fine and fetches another boundary. He moves onto 28.
Kesrick Williams to Ariful Haque. NOT OUT! Missing leg and Windies lose their sole review. Was a poor one to be honest. Williams bowls it on middle and then angles it into the batsman. Haque tries to flick but misses to get hit on the pads. The Windies players appeal as the ball rolls towards square leg and the batsmen run a leg bye. The umpire shakes his head. Williams really likes it and he convinces his skipper to take it upstairs. Replays roll in and they show the ball to be going down with the angle.
Review time! An appeal for an LBW has been turned down. Ariful Haque is the man in question. Looks to be missing the leg stump.
Ariful Haque is next.
Kesrick Williams to Mushfiqur Rahim. OUT! Timely breakthrough and Bangladesh now have half their side back in the hut. Poor shot by Rahim. The third man was moved in a bit finer and he has fallen for the trap. Williams bangs it in short on off, Rahim arches his back and tries to play the upper cut. Does not generate a lot of power in the shot and it goes straight into the hands of Powell in that region. A promising stand has been cut short and Windies now will look to get things back in their control.
Kesrick Williams to Mushfiqur Rahim. FOUR! Brilliant by Rahim! He makes room and he gets a short ball outside off. Rahim guides it very fine on the off side and a boundary results.
Kesrick Williams to Mahmudullah. Defended off the back foot by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
Kesrick Williams is on.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mushfiqur Rahim. FOUR! A boundary to finish another expensive over. 13 from it. Good innovation from Rahim. He moves across and plays the paddle scoop over the keeper and into the boundary. Yes, wickets have fallen but the visitors continue their attacking approach and it is paying off for them.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mushfiqur Rahim. An action replay of the last delivery. Two dots in a row.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mushfiqur Rahim. Shortish outside off, Rahim goes for a cut but does not connect.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mushfiqur Rahim. Fullish on off, Rahim hits it through covers and the batsmen run two.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mahmudullah. Length on off, guided down to third man for a run.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mahmudullah. FIVE WIDES! Poor ball by the Windies skipper, down the leg side, Mahmudullah misses the flick. The keeper too fails to collect it and the ball races away. Brathwaite is not happy with it being called a wide and rightly so. Snicko later on shows a spike as the ball passes the bat.
Carlos Brathwaite to Mushfiqur Rahim. Fuller on middle, worked down to long on for a run.
Carlos Brathwaite is into the attack.
Keemo Paul to Mahmudullah. SIX! Stand and deliver! That has been hit with authority. Length ball around off, Mahmudullah makes room and just lofts it over the long off fence. Ends the over with a bang. 12 from this one and 29 from the last 2.

Keemo Paul to Mahmudullah. A slower bouncer this time but it bounces way above the batsman's head. Wide signaled.
Keemo Paul to Mushfiqur Rahim. Extra bounce on this one! Paul bends his back on this one and bowls it on a back of a length. Rahim tries to fend it but the ball goes off the gloves down to third man for a run.
Keemo Paul to Mahmudullah. Smart batting! They got a big last over and now are looking to rotate strike as Mahmudullah guides this down to third man for a run.
Keemo Paul to Mahmudullah. Slower ball but the bowler misses his radar. It is down the leg side, wided.
Keemo Paul to Mahmudullah. Back of a length on middle, Mahmudullah tucks it to mid-wicket.
Keemo Paul to Mushfiqur Rahim. Rahim makes room and hits it hard towards mid off who makes a good stop diving to his left. A single taken.
Keemo Paul to Mushfiqur Rahim. WIDE! Down the leg side, Rahim misses the flick and a wide is signaled.
Samuel Badree to Mahmudullah. SIX! Bang! What. A. Shot. Mahmudullah is a powerful man and he is showing it here in St. Kitts. A flighted ball on off from Badree, the batsman just powers it over long on fence nonchalantly for a maximum. 17 runs off Badree's third. He has been taken to cleaners this evening.
Samuel Badree to Mahmudullah. FOUR! Punishment day it is for Samuel Badree. He bowls a fuller ball on leg and Mahmudullah drives it powerfully to the long on fence. Two off two for Mahmudullah.
Samuel Badree to Mahmudullah. FOUR! Normally Badree is quite straight but today he is erring in his line and Bangladesh batsmen are making him pay. Shorter outside off, guided through third man for a boundary. A boundary after three singles.
Samuel Badree to Mushfiqur Rahim. Slower this time around off, pushed through cover-point. One run taken.
Samuel Badree to Mahmudullah. On the pads, worked to the on side for another run.
Samuel Badree to Mushfiqur Rahim. Flighted on off, pushed to long on for a run.

Keemo Paul to Mahmudullah. Works it with the angle towards mid-wicket.
Keemo Paul to Mahmudullah. Mahmudullah does well to negotiate the hat-trick ball out. A good delivery, attacking the stumps and on a length. Mahmudullah keeps it out.
Mahmudullah makes his way out to the middle. He will be facing the hat-trick ball.
Keemo Paul to Shakib Al Hasan. OUT! He has taken it cleanly! The dropped catch has not cost a lot. Marlon Samuels can now breathe a sigh of relief. Brilliant by Williams. Once again the short ball does the trick. This time it is outside off, Shakib plays the upper cut. He does connect well but Williams there holds onto the ball but then realizes that he is losing his balance. He shows good awareness by throwing the ball up in the air, crosses the fence, then comes back in and catches it. The umpire goes upstairs to check whether it is cleanly taken, and the replays show it is clean as a whistle. Once again, Bangladesh lose two in an over and now are in dire straits. Hat-trick ball coming up.
Has Williams pulled of a blinder? Well he is pretty confident about it as the umpires go upstairs to check. OUT is the soft signal. Shakib is the man in question. A huge moment in the game.
Mushfiqur Rahim is the new man in.
Keemo Paul to Liton Das. OUT! In the air... taken! The Powerplay keeps getting better for the Windies as Keemo Paul strikes in his first over. The short ball does the trick. Unlike the last delivery, this time he gets it to bounce a lot more as he bowls it a touch shorter. Das goes for the pull but gets a top edge which goes high up in the air towards backward square leg. Fletcher there settles himself under it and takes it. Third down for Bangladesh and not many teams win a game after losing three in the Powerplay.
Keemo Paul to Liton Das. Another brilliant effort in the field by Fletcher. On the shorter side again, not that short though. Das picks the length up early and pulls it towards deep mid-wicket. Fletcher there runs to his left, and does really well to push it back into play with one hand. The batsmen run two.
Keemo Paul replaces Andre Russell.
Samuel Badree to Liton Das. Whips this through mid-wicket and Das retains strike. 9 from Samuel's second and he has gone for 18 in his two. You don't normally see the leggie go for a lot.
Samuel Badree to Liton Das. Lovely fielding! Das steps down the track and chips the ball over mid off. He might have felt that he has hit it for a certain boundary. But the fielder at long on, runs to his left, dives and saves two for his side.
Samuel Badree to Shakib Al Hasan. Punched off the back foot by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
Samuel Badree to Shakib Al Hasan. Quicker and on the shorter side, Hasan guides it to point.
Samuel Badree to Shakib Al Hasan. FOUR! Crashed! Badree pays the price of bowling a little too full as Shakib hits him hard through the covers. He finds the gap and a boundary results. Runs starting to come thick and fast now.
Samuel Badree to Liton Das. Flatter on the stumps, Das pushes it towards wide mid on for a run.
Andre Russell to Shakib Al Hasan. FOUR! Make that three! 15 from Russell's second. Another half-tracker and width on offer outside off, Hasan says thank you so much and guides it over point as the ball races away. Bangladesh needed this big over, this should get them going nicely.
Andre Russell to Shakib Al Hasan. FOUR! Not off the middle but Shakib will take it. A good follow-up delivery by Russell, a bumper, aimed at the body of the batsman. Shakib goes for the pull but the ball takes the top edge and races to the fine leg fence. Second boundary in the over.
Andre Russell to Shakib Al Hasan. A corker of a yorker there. Had it only been on the stumps. Shakib again is beaten in pace as he tries to jam it out.
Andre Russell to Shakib Al Hasan. FOUR! Who will these runs hurt the most? Marlon Samuels. A short ball outside off, Shakib loves it there. He cuts it over backward point and gets a boundary. His first.
Andre Russell to Liton Das. Up and over! Not a boundary but three handy runs! Shorter in length on middle, Das picks the length up early. He pulls it over the mid-wicket fielder. The timing is not all that great but still enough to fetch three.
Andre Russell to Liton Das. Clever delivery! He bowled the last over at very good pace and this time delivers a slower ball on off. Das taps it towards point. He wants a run but is sent back by his partner correctly.
Samuel Badree to Liton Das. Fuller on middle, driven to mid on for a run. 9 off Badree's first over.
Samuel Badree to Liton Das. Gets behind this one nicely and keeps it out off the front foot.
Samuel Badree to Liton Das. FOUR! Shot! Das is looking to up the ante and Badree is proving to be expensive in his first over. A touch shorter outside off, Das cuts it through cover-point and gets another boundary.
Samuel Badree to Liton Das. FOUR! Innovation from Das. He slips but has struck it nicely. A flighted ball on middle and off, Das slogs it over square leg and earns a boundary.
Samuel Badree to Liton Das. Faster one on middle, Das comes forward and away to keep it out to the off side.
Samuel Badree to Liton Das. Liton has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
Samuel Badree is into the attack. Surprising, especially after a double-wicket over by Nurse.
Andre Russell to Liton Das. A single to end another good over for the Windies. A good bouncer, a well-directed one. Das tucks it around the corner and gets to the other end.
Andre Russell to Liton Das. BEATEN AGAIN! Russell is proving too hot to handle for Das. He bowls this full and outside off, the sucker ball. Liton goes for a booming drive but the ball whizzes past the outside edge.
Andre Russell to Liton Das. Short outside off, the ball has a lot of fizz on it. Das once again is beaten by pace as he goes for the pull.
Andre Russell to Liton Das. Goes very full on the pads, Das is late on the flick shot. He misses to get hit on the pads.
Andre Russell to Liton Das. On a length and at a good pace. The batsman defends it.
Andre Russell to Shakib Al Hasan. DROPPED! Who is the culprit? Marlon Samuels. A sitter, that is what you can call that. But the question here is, what is Shakib doing? Your team has lost two wickets in the first over, you should be a touch cautious but no. He goes for a flashy drive to a ball which is on a length. It goes uppishly towards Samuels at short covers who gets two hands to it but spills it. A reprieve for the Bangladesh skipper, can he make them pay? The visitors would hope he can.
Andre Russell to bowl from the other end.
Ashley Nurse to Liton Das. On the stumps and kept out. End of a double-wicket over. Brilliant by Nurse, a captain could not have asked for anything more after winning the toss and opting to field.
Ashley Nurse to Shakib Al Hasan. Fuller on middle, Hasan pushes it towards mid off for a quick run. The fielder there failed to pick it up cleanly, had he done it, there could have been a chance of a run out at the non-striker's end.
Shakib Al Hasan, the skipper strides out to the middle. He needs to play a captain's knock here.
Ashley Nurse to Soumya Sarkar. OUT! TIMBER! Ashley Nurse, what a first over this is turning out to be. He opened the bowling as there were two left-handers and he has got both of them. Sarkar too bags a golden duck. Poor from him. He goes back to a fuller length delivery and that proves to be his undoing. The ball skids through and even before he gets his bat down, the ball hits timber. He stands there in disbelief and then starts trudging back. Another failure for Sarkar and Bangladesh have both their openers back in the hut in the first over itself.
Ashley Nurse to Liton Das. Again fires it on the stumps, Das pulls it towards deep mid-wicket for a run.
Ashley Nurse to Liton Das. FOUR! A wicket on the first ball and a boundary on the second. Liton Das gets off the mark in style. Flatter and outside off, Das waits for the ball to come to him and then guides it through short third man for a boundary. First of the game.
Liton Das is the new man in.
Ashley Nurse to Tamim Iqbal. OUT! And guess what? He strikes on the very first ball. The move to begin with the offie has paid dividends. What a start for the Windies, they are ecstatic as they have got the big fish. Tamim walks back without troubling the scorers. He tries to take on the bowler first up by dancing down the track. He though comes down a touch early and seeing that, Nurse bowls it shorter and outside off. Tamim tries to cut but misses and the keeper does the rest.
We are all set for the game to begin now. Out come the umpires and they are followed by the Windies players. Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar are the openers for Bangladesh. The former will be on strike and he will be facing Ashley Nurse. We normally see Samuel Badree open the bowling for the Windies but due to two left-handers, it is Nurse who will bowl the first over.
Good news! It was a passing shower and the covers are being removed. Action to resume shortly.
Bad news! We were moments away from the start of the game but the heavens opened up. It is pouring down at the moment and the groundsmen rush out with the covers. Let us hope it is just a passing shower and action resumes as soon as possible. Fingers crossed.

Test series - won by the Windies. ODI series - won by Bangladesh. Now it is time for the shortest version of the game. A format in which the hosts are a force to reckon with. They are surely favourites heading into the 1st T20I but the visitors have momentum on their side. Can they carry forward the momentum and hold the edge heading into the second game or will the home side justify their tag of World Champions? Stay tuned to find out.
That is it from our side for this game. Windies go 1-nil up in the series as the play moves to Lauderhill, Florida. Join us for the same on Saturday at 12 AM GMT (8 PM Local). Till then, ciao!
Windies captain, Carlos Brathwaite, says that it was decided yesterday to start with Nurse first up. Adds that they had a gut feeling about the move and he feels happy that it came off nicely. Implies that he trusts his players to make the right calculative decisions in crunch moments and if they fail, they should look to improve in the next game. Ends by saying that they are happy with the win and would look to replicate the same performance in the next couple of matches as well.
Bangladesh Captain, Shakib Al Hasan, starts by saying that they lost their way with the early wickets. Adds that they kept on losing crucial wickets after every comeback they made but losing five in the first 10 overs was never going to help them. Asserts Windies have a lot of power hitters in their team and they are well aware of them. Ends by saying they have a lot to improve and will look rectify in the next match.
After being put to bat, Bangladesh could never lift themselves after the initial setbacks. They lost 4 in the Powerplay as the Windies bowlers ran havoc, with the star being Williams who took a 4-fer to dismiss the visitors for just 143. Mahmudullah was the highest scorer for the visitors with 35 but no one else could stick around for too long. During Windies chase, Rahman took two in two in the second over but it didn't really made any difference in the outcome as the hosts go 1-0 up in the series.
Well, the score never looked it would trouble the mighty Windies and they have made sure that they win this on a canter. The rain tried to play spoilsport by delaying the start of the second innings, but what a clinical performance this has been from the hosts as a whole. After a slight glitch in the second over, Russell and Samuels put on a 42-run stand and took the winds out of Bangladesh's sails. After the former got out, Powell made sure that there were no more hiccups in the chase. In the end, they won it with 11 balls to spare.
Shakib Al Hasan to Rovman Powell. SIX! It's all over. What a strike to end things here at St. Kitts. It's a gentle floated ball on middle, Powell goes down on his knee to loft it over the long on fence. WINDIES WIN BY 7 WICKETS!
Shakib Al Hasan comes back for a bowl.
Rubel Hossain to Andre Russell. Slower ball outside off, Russ fails to connect with it. Still four needed as Rubel bowls a nice over.
Rubel Hossain to Andre Russell. Russell goes for the hook but misses the line of the delivery.
Rubel Hossain to Rovman Powell. Ooh! That was so close. Powell manages to get bat to ball on this shortish delivery to get it towards covers. The fielder there has a shy at the non-striker's end but misses. Had he hit, it would have been close.
Rubel Hossain to Rovman Powell. And again. Three in three. He hasn't connected to the similar deliveries outside his off stump.
Rubel Hossain to Rovman Powell. Goes for a wild hoick off the length ball but misses.
Rubel Hossain to Rovman Powell. Powell has attempted to put bat on ball but fails.
Rubel Hossain is back on.
Nazmul Islam to Andre Russell. SIX! Ho, Ho, Ho! Rusell is in Christmasy mood. It's raining sixes at the moment and a couple of them have gone out of the stadium as well. A tossed delivery from Islam, Russell stays in his crease and lofts it up and over and out of the park. Just 5 needed now.
Nazmul Islam to Rovman Powell. Almost got him there. He bowls a yorker around off, Powell manages to get an inside edge to the on side. One run added to the total.
Nazmul Islam to Rovman Powell. SIX! Fetched and fetched nicely. Now Powell gets into the act. A slow flighted ball on a length, Powell fetches it from off and deposits it over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum.
Nazmul Islam to Andre Russell. Another fast and full ball on middle and off, Russ powers it to long on and takes a run.
Nazmul Islam to Andre Russell. Faster and fuller on off, dug out to covers for nothing.
Nazmul Islam to Rovman Powell. Punched down the ground for a run.
Nazmul Islam comes back for a bowl.
Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. FOUR! 18 from the over! On the pads, Russell this time does not shuffle a lot and it becomes easy for him. He tickles it fine and the ball races away. 20 more needed from 24.
Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. This is one length he struggles with. The bouncer. He ducks under it.
Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. FOUR! This boundary probably seals it for the Windies. If it ever was in doubt. A short ball outside off, Russell with the angle cuts it over point and the ball races away. 14 from the last three balls.
Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. SIX! Colossal! WOW! What a hit! That is bowled on a length around off, a similar one to the last ball. This time though it is on leg stump. Russell, lines it up and sends it sailing over the mid-wicket fence. 28 more needed.
Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. FOUR! Full marks to the bowler there but runs to the batsman. Length ball on middle, it angles away from the batsman. Russell tries to go over mid-wicket but the ball takes the top edge and goes over short third man for a boundary.
Mustafizur Rahman to Andre Russell. A bumper on middle, Russell ducks under it. He looks at the square leg umpire for a wide but not given. A dot to begin.
Mustafizur Rahman is back on.
