A completely one-sided match! Sri Lanka posted a big total on the board, mainly due to the onslaught in the last 10 overs by their batsmen. In pursuit, Bangladesh never got going. Leaving alone Soumya Sarkar, the batting meekly surrendered and didn't put up any fight. Taijul Islam had some fun towards the end and reduced the defeat margin with his entertaining knock. Just like their batting, Sri Lanka's bowling was also right on the money. Especially, their pacers were brilliant and picked seven wickets combined. Dasun Shanaka stood out with three wickets and it was a good all-round performance by him as it was his 14-ball 30 knock that provided the much-needed impetus to the Sri Lankan innings in the death overs.
A match dedicated to Nuwan Kulasekara and Sri Lanka have made it a truly memorable one with this convincing victory. Lasith Malinga also got a winning farewell in the first ODI and another servant of Sri Lankan cricket is given a good parting gift.
