End of Over : 49.1IND: 255/10
Can India roar back in the second half with the likes of Bumrah, Shami and Kuldeep to bowl. Or will Australia take the lead in this 3-match ODI series with Warner, Smith and Labuschagne firing? Join us after the break to find out!
So in a pitch where 300-plus scores are chased regularly, India have a below-par total of 256 to defend. Australia will be the happier side heading into the break and should chase this down with dew also set to play a a part.
Starc starts by saying that it is a good effort by all the bowlers. Adds that it is a good moment for him as he is playing just his 2nd ODI in India. On the key to bowling well on this track, Starc says that the Australian bowlers for the most part bowled good lines and lengths and varied their pace at the right time. Mentions that India have some quality spinners and quality quicks as well so they have to be on their toes. Ends by saying they have to bat well to win this match.
What a resounding bowling performance from the Australians. Finch won the toss and opted to bowl and his bowlers backed their captain. All 5 bowlers were exceptional and had at least one wicket to heir name. The pacers had 7 wickets amongst themselves. Mitchell Starc was the star of the show with 3 wickets. Richardson and Cummins had two wickets each. The spinners were not just economical but also got very crucial wickets. The leg spin of Zampa got rid of Kohli while Agar got rid of Rahul. None of the bowlers went for more than 6 runs in an over on a pitch where bowlers have feared to bowl. Before we head into the break, the star of the show Mitchell Starc is caught down for a quick chat with Michael Slater.
After being put into bat, India got off to a horror start losing Rohit Sharma early. Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul then steadied the ship with a 121-run stand. The former started off slowly but grew into his stride. Rahul though lacked aggression but once he departed the procession started. From 134/1 the hosts found themselves wanting at 164/5. The big finish they were laying the foundation for never came. Pant and Jadeja then tried to give them that blockbuster finish and added a 49-run stand but the pair departed in quick succession. 250 looked difficult but fight from Shami and Kuldeep saw the scoreboard have some respectability and has taken the hosts to 255.
Superb bowling performance from the visitors. On a wicket which has historically been a bowler's nightmare, the Australian bowlers have come and given a masterclass at Wankhede. High-fives all around amongst the Aussies as they know they have won the first half of this game.

Mitchell Starc to Rohit Sharma. FOUR! India are off to a cracking start! Starc starts with a warmup delivery. It is full and wide outside off, Rohit needs no time to set himself. He sees it overpitched and he drives it with all his class through covers for a boundary. The idea from Starc is right as he is trying to swing it back in from there but the margin of error is just too small.
Done and dusted with the national anthems. The Australian players are walking out on the field and are taking their respective positions. To a huge reception from the home crowd, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma stride out to open the innings for India. The latter will take the strike. The last time the tourists visited, they came here down and out but went back looking like their former self. Aaron Finch and co. will be looking to repeat the same and prove the world that they are the real deal. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, will be desperate to give it back to the Aussies and avenge for that series loss. A cracker of a contest awaits us in Mumbai. Who will take the lead in this small but dynamite of a series?

That is it from this game. We expected a tough fight but it was another one-sided game of cricket in India but the twist in the tale was that it was the hosts who were decimated at their own backyard. Australia go 1-0 up in this small series with a dominant fashion. India will look to bounce back from this loss and will see this as one-off. We now move to Rajkot for the all important 2nd ODI. That game will be played on Friday, 17th January. The match will begin at 1330 local (0800 GMT). Join us for that one. Till then, cheers!
For his unbeaten knock of 128, David Warner has been adjudged the Man of the Match. Warner says that he has always had hunger and desire to score runs., Credits his fast bowlers and tells knocking India for 255 in their own backyard was incredible. Adds Finch started well and that allowed him to take his time. Says they just try to keep rotating the strike in the middle period and score odd boundaries. Tell they look to take the game deep and knew if they stuck in there till the end they could chase it with ease. Tells he enjoys fielding since childhood and used to get his clothes dirty which his mom did not like but he loves that aspect of the game. Ends by thanking the fans for coming.
Australian skipper, Aaron Finch says they fought back in the middle part with the ball and that played a huge role and he is proud of his bowlers. Finch says they can brush up in fielding but he is happy with the performance overall. On David Warner, Finch says that he has been unstoppable in this format. Tells that it is difficult to bowl to him once he is set in. Adds that it is always great to bat with him. On whether he expects India to bounce back, Finch says definitely as he knows they are a quality side.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli says that they were outplayed in all three departments. Adds that there was no intent in the middle overs with the bat and that the side was too respectful of the opposition bowlers. Further says that the Australians are a world class side and they capitalized on the openings that they got. On being asked about looking forward to the T20 format, Virat says International cricket is always priceless and game time matters and not a particular format. Adds that everyone has to step up and hopes that one of the youngsters in the middle order can play a blinder in the next two games. On being asked about his decision to come in at the number 4 position, Virat says that they have had that discussion many times in the past but they will be looking to try different things and not sticking to a single attempt. Adds that they were looking to experiment and they are allowed to do that and fail in that too once in a while. Ends by thanking the crowd and saying they were amazing.
Earlier in the day, the Australian bowlers set up the win for the tourists as they bowled out India for a paltry score of 255 on a batting pitch. No one apart from Dhawan and Rahul got going for India. The Australian bowlers were on top and the pace bowling trio of Starc, Cummins and Richardson grabbed 7 wickets amongst them with the former picking up 3 and the latter two sharing 4 wickets equally between themselves.
It was a day to forget for India. First with the bat and then with the ball. The bowlers had a sub-par total to defend but the way the Australian openers took the attack to them was something that we have not seen for a long, long time. 5 bowlers played the game and none of them had anything to smile about. Only the spinners went for less than 6 runs per over but that was because the Australian openers never had to go after them. Shami, Thakur and Bumrah they all went for over 7 rpo. A nightmare of a day for the Indian bowlers and they will like to forget this as quickly as possible.
Easily done! Australia made a mockery of this chase and have taken the lead in the series without sweating. The openers started, laid the platform and also ended the chase. Unbeaten centuries from David Warner and skipper Aaron Finch has destroyed, humiliated and annihilated the hosts. A day for the Australians to remember as they have broken a ton of records and handed Australia a thumping 10 wicket win!

Mitchell Starc to KL Rahul. FOUR! Rahul is off the mark, bad end to a very successful over. Starc steams in and bowls a pacy delivery but down the leg side, Rahul manages to flick it fine down the leg side and the outfield here in Mumbai is ultra quick so the ball dashes to the fence. Pat Cummins to Rohit Sharma. On the pads, Rohit glances it to mid-wicket.

The Sri Lanka series is done and India now have a tougher assignment at home. Their first challenging series of 2020 sees them welcome 3-time World champions, Australia.
