England vs Australia Highlights And Cricket Score One-off Match - T20I Commentary
However, the likes of Alex Hales, Eoin Morgan and Jason Roy continued with their swagger and left the Aussie bowlers gasping for air. Billy Stanlake and Kane Richardson gave away runs at an economy of over 14, which tells the sad story of their efforts. Mitchell Swepson picked up two wickets and bowled decent lines and length and Andrew Tye's figures don't justify the way he bowled. Few chances were missed as well, which would have made some difference to the score. But it felt like it was England's day as whatever they touched turned to gold. The Australian batting will be under pressure and they will need to show fight to win this. It could turn out to be an exciting encounter given the pitch. See you on the other side of the break.
What a batting performance from the in-form English batters. They punished the bowlers ruthlessly and sprayed their shots all over the park. Jos Buttler was sent to the opening slot along with Jason Roy. They started the fireworks in the first over itself. The bounce on the pitch assisted batting and Buttler made full use of it by scoring the fastest half century for England in this format. Once he was dismissed by the debutant, Mitchell Swepson, in the 9th over, the visitors felt they had a chance of making a comeback into the contest.

The ball lobs in the air and Finch at short mid-wicket takes an easy catch. Both the openers are back in the dugout now. Australia can build on this perhaps.
Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Six Runs! Are you kidding me? What is going on with Australia? Back of a length around middle and off, Roy drags it to the short square leg region and sets for the run straightaway. Ashton Agar to Jason Roy. Agar returns in action and bowls a flighted ball around off. Roy tries going big over long off but fails to middle it properly. It travels straight down Richardson's throat who drops a dolly. Oh dear, a DROPPED catch at this stage is the last thing Australia wanted.
Andrew Tye to Jos Buttler. Offers no width and no pace, that's the way to go against these kind of batsmen. Jos defends it back. Excellent over by Tye, just 3 from it.

Kane Richardson to Jos Buttler. SIX! England going great guns and want to use the Powerplay to the maximum. Uses the depth of the crease to make some room and then his bottom hand takes over. Gets it from the middle of his willow and smashes it over the bowler's head.
Kane Richardson to Jason Roy. Hits the yorker mark this time, Roy adjusts well to glide it down towards third man for a run.
Kane Richardson to Jason Roy. Fourth over begins with a fourth different bowler and it's a FOUR! Richardson it is. He runs in to bowl it on a length outside off, Roy makes room by going towards leg and then hammers it over wide mid off for a boundary.
Mitchell Swepson to Jos Buttler. SIX! 16 from the over! Excellent use of the feet by Buttler. Dances down the track, gets to the pitch of it and sends it sailing over the long on fence. An expensive start for the leg spinner. England are off to a flier.

The fielder there fires it to the keeper who takes the bails off and appeals. Roy's bat is down on the ground, it seems like he has jammed it as he tried to ground. The Australians seem confident. Time for the replays and yes, Roy did jam his bat outside the crease but his foot has made it in time.
Mitchell Swepson to Jos Buttler. FOUR! Buttler there was completely deceived in flight but such are the bats now, it goes to the fence off the inner half too. Flighted ball on middle, Buttler swings but the ball goes off the inside part and to the mid-wicket fence.

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. FOUR! Shot! Roy gives the charge to a length ball and absolutely clubs it past the right side of the mid on fielder. Not from the middle of the bat but still it races away.
Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Another great shot, looks a belter of a surface. Roy hits his on drive on the up but finds the mid on fielder.
Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. FOUR! Great start! Pace on the ball but it's full and on middle and leg, Roy leans forward and across before clipping it off his pads through mid-wicket.
Out come the English openers. As we already know, Jos Buttler will be opening today alongside Jason Roy. Such a strong batting unit that in-form Jonny Bairstow has to slip down the order. Australia beginning with the pace of Billy Stanlake. A slip in place.
Toss - Up goes the coin, Aaron Finch calls it correctly and AUSTRALIA WILL FIELD!
Hello! A sunny and warm welcome to the one-off T20I between England and Australia at Edgbaston, Birmingham. We are back to the shortest format of the game, which should bring a sigh of relief for the visitors. It's a different ball game for Australia as they havent done too bad in the T20Is recently. They will look to give back to the English team after the whitewash in the ODI series. On the other hand, England will look to swipe the new look Kangaroos slate clean. A fun fact - England havent lost a match against the team from Down Under at this venue across all formats while Australia is ranked above the hosts in the T20I format. It should be an exciting contest, to say the least. Stay tuned as the action starts in a short while.
Lots of cricketing action coming up. Keep checking this space to catch all the action. That is all from us for this game. Till then, Ciao!
So what is coming next for these two teams - To start with, England will take on India in their own backyard from July 3rd while the team from Down Under travels to Africa. They will take on Pakistan and Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe in a triangular series starting from 1st July.
That is it for Australia in the English summer. This was their first tour after the controversy-marred one to South Africa earlier this year. With the newer management and players, they tried to make something out of the situation but the inexperience costs them. On the other hand, England are in prime form. Their top-order is in sublime touch. Their spin duo also created a repertoire for themselves. The team as whole looks threatening, led by an intelligent leader and should win trophies in the upcoming few months.
Nasser Hussain conducts the post-match presentation. Man of the match, Adil Rashid starts by saying that his bowling has been getting better throughout the whole summer and it has been really nice for him. Asserts that he has worked hard, stayed positive and backed himself at all times. Further adds that when Aaron Finch was going nicely, he backed himself as he knows his strengths well and tossed the ball up to him. Praises his skipper Eoin Morgan by saying that he gives confidence to his bowlers and lets them express themselves in the field. Concludes by saying that he has no regrets on retiring from Test cricket as he is confident of having a long career with the white ball.
However, the credit must be given to the bowlers, especially Adil Rashid. Moeen Ali had an off day today but the leggie was in his own. He flighted the ball nicely and made life difficult for the visiting batters. His figures of 27/3 will tell the tale. Chris Jordan also shared the accolades with 42/3 and together they swept away the kangaroos. All-in-all, it was an easy win for Morgan and Co.
What an evening for England! They have whitewashed Australia on this tour and haven't let them crawl back into any of the games. A win set up by their batsmen and concluded by the bowlers, it's a team win to put it rightly. The Aussies had no answers for the English bowlers as they gave away wickets at regular intervals. None of the top-order batsmen applied on an easy looking pitch. Aaron Finch, however, showed the way with 84 off 41 but he alone couldn't have finished it off.
Liam Plunkett to Billy Stanlake. OUT! It's all over. Australia go home empty-handed. They have lost yet another game to England. Liam bowls a cross-seam back of a length delivery on middle and off, the batsman goes after it from his crease but only manages to slice it in the air. The ball lobs to Morgan who runs in from the cover region in and takes an easy catch. England win by 28 runs!

David Willey to Mitchell Swepson. Fullish around middle and off, driven to covers for a single.
David Willey to Andrew Tye. OUT! But he couldn't continue with his fun for long. Similar line and length from Willey, Tye swings again but this time the height is more than the distance. Liam Plunkett at long on settles himself and takes a jumping catch near the boundary line. He is a big man and using his height well. End is nigh for Australia.
David Willey to Andrew Tye. SIX! Tye is having some fun it seems. A full ball in his slot, he swings his bat with all his might and hits it straight down the ground for a maximum.
David Willey to Andrew Tye. Just inside the tramline and evades the swinging blade of Tye.
David Willey to Mitchell Swepson. Swepson looks to clear his right leg to make some room. He gets a length ball on middle and leg. He gets it down the ground and changes strike.
Chris Jordan to Andrew Tye. Full in the line of stumps, Tye does well to dig it out to the mid on region. Two runs added to the total.
Chris Jordan to Mitchell Swepson. Driven towards the mid off region by Swepson. The batsmen have run through for a single.
Chris Jordan to Mitchell Swepson. No hat-trick. That ball has taken the inside edge of the batsman and thudded into his pads.
Chris Jordan to Kane Richardson. OUT! Jordan has another and the bad day continues for Richardson. A length ball outside off, Kane goes for the full-blooded uppish drive but hits it straight to Alex Hales at mid off. Chris is on a hat-trick.
Chris Jordan to Ashton Agar. OUT! Gozunder! Jordan has cleaned up Agar with a yorker. Too much to ask from Agar to say the least. He moves across to play a fullish ball over the infield on the on side but misses the ball altogether. He has to walk back as his stumps are shattered. Australia lose another.
Chris Jordan to Andrew Tye. Full and wide outside off, Tye does well to push it to covers. He sets off for a run straightaway but Morgan stationed there rushes in and has a shy at the stumps. Tye would have been a goner had he hit but it wasn't to be. Australia need 48 off 17.
Chris Jordan comes back to bowl the 18th over.
David Willey to Andrew Tye. Played through mid-wicket by the batsman. They pick up a single.
David Willey to Ashton Agar. Ashton has done well to keep that yorker at bay. One run added to the total.

David Willey to Andrew Tye. The ball has been square driven by Tye. One run added to the total.
David Willey is back for a bowl.
Adil Rashid to Andrew Tye. Goes aerial again, this time over mid on. Jordan makes a good stop in the deep as the batsmen cross for a run. 13 from this over but it accounted for the big wicket of Finch too. Rashid has bowled out. 4-0-27-3, outstanding figures for him.
Adil Rashid to Andrew Tye. SIX! Tye also wants to put up a fight, unlike Australia's top order. Tossed up ball around off, Tye gets across the stumps a bit and thwacks it over mid-wicket.
Adil Rashid to Ashton Agar. Rashid drags his length short and bowls it on middle, Agar pulls it to deep mid-wicket and crosses.
Adil Rashid to Andrew Tye. Flighted on off, driven down the ground to long off for one.
Andrew Tye is the new batsman.
Adil Rashid to Aaron Finch. OUT! And Rashid responds with a wicket. Went for a boundary on the last ball but that doesn't stop him from flighting the ball. Shows courage to give it air and once again lands it on middle. Finch tries muscling it out of the ground but probably fails to get under the delivery properly. As a result, his shot has more height than distance. Jordan settles himself under it and takes the catch safely at long off. End of a breathtaking knock by the Aussie skipper but sadly for the visiting team, that won't be enough by the looks of it.
Adil Rashid to Aaron Finch. FOUR! Boom! Finch has smashed it. A flighted full ball landing on middle, Aaron clears his front leg and blazes it straight down the ground for a boundary. Pressure straightaway on the leggie.
Adil Rashid is back on.
Chris Jordan to Aaron Finch. Too full in length on middle, Finch brings down a straight bat and drives it down the ground. The long off fielder cuts it off and they take a single.
Chris Jordan to Ashton Agar. Jordan finds the yorker, Agar manages to dig it out down to long on for a run.
Chris Jordan to Ashton Agar. FOUR! Fuller in length, a cutter on middle, Agar attacks it and drives it firmly through extra cover. The long off fielder tries cutting it off with a dive but fails.
Chris Jordan to Aaron Finch. Driven towards the mid off region. The batsmen have run through for a single.
