England vs Australia Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - ODI Commentary

End of Over : 50.0 ENG: 481/6

There is not a lot to write about the Australian bowling! They all were taken to the cleaners. Tye went for 100 in his 9. Richardson was the pick of the bowlers as he had three to his name but he too was pounded. They now have to put their bowling performance behind and concentrate on their batting. A huge task is what awaits them. The wicket is a true one but they will have to bat out of their skins here. Not too long ago they created a record for the highest chase in the shortest format but can they do it here? One would surely bet against it but do join us for the chase to find out.

What a power-packed batting display by England! Talk about utilizing the conditions to the fullest. After they were put into bat their openers once again came to the fore as they added 159 runs in super-quick time. Roy then was run out after he reached his half century. Bairstow though continued milking the runs with Hales. The former got to his century before being the first batter to get dismissed to an Australian spinner in this series. Buttler's promotion up the order did not work but Morgan very well made up for it. Another century-run stand was blasted between him and Alex as the latter finished three short of 150. The two fell in consecutive balls which surely made a difference of 10 runs to the final score.

End of Over : 43 18 Runs ENG: 400/3
42.6 3

Jhye Richardson to Eoin Morgan. 400 up for England! This is a yorker outside off, Eoin jams it with timing. Gets it through the gap between covers and mid off. Head from the latter position chases it down and saves a run for his team.

Meanwhile the players appeal and the umpire goes upstairs. Replays show that Hales has made it in due to his long reach.

A run out appeal at the striker's end has been taken upstairs. Hales is the man in question. It is a direct hit, looks close.

Finch there, does well to judge it, position himself just inside the ropes and take it reverse cup. He then gestures to one of his mates that he had lost it in the sky. 19.3 W

Marcus Stoinis to Jason Roy. RUN OUT! That's the only way this pair looked like getting separated. And now, we've to stop the press about the excellent running between the wickets. Roy tucks it off his pads towards deep backward square leg and sets across for one. Even though Short was getting to the ball, the plan for the second by the English duo wasn't aborted. A flat and quick throw was fired to the keeper, who flicked the bails off in a flash. The TV umpire is summoned. A first couple of looks confirms doom for the batter. This is the highest stand between Roy and Bairstow and also the joint-second opening stand at this venue.

Gone? Tim Paine seems confident. The third umpire is called for a run out appeal against Jason Roy...

Drinks time! The English openers have set out with their tasks without much ado. Both Roy and Bairstow in the process have registered their respective fifties. The Aussies toiled for 17 overs, lost their sole review and yet have nothing to show. They'll want this interval to stem the momentum for the hosts. Will it so happen?

16.6 2

Billy Stanlake to Jonny Bairstow. Excellent effort in the deep. Bairstow whips this one off the pads. Seems to be a boundary written all over it. But the man from deep mid-wicket rushes to his right and parries it to the one running in from deep square leg. Just two runs taken in the interim.

15.1 0

Marcus Stoinis to Jason Roy. On a length around off, punched down the ground for nothing.

Marcus Stoinis is introduced into the attack. He bowled reasonably well in the previous ODI. A deep square leg, fine leg, third man and a sweeper cover are the four men outside the circle.

Thus, Jonny gets another lease of life and a couple of runs as well.

Ashton Agar to Jonny Bairstow. MISSING THE STUMPS! The surprise at that one should be evident in the way it is written. Bairstow yet again gets low and across in a bid to play the sweep. But this time, he misses the ball and wears it flush on the pads. An appeal seems just to be a formality as it looks pretty plumb. The umpire gives the marching orders. However, the English Test keeper has a chat with his partner and decides to review. Now time for the Snicko. There's a small spike before the ball comes near the blade and also after it passes the glove. Thus, the presence of the willow is ruled out. Now, time for the Hawk Eye. Here lies the surprise. It shows that the ball would have bounced over the stumps! Wonderful use of the review by the hosts.

Another review! Bairstow seems to be a goner, LBW! But he has a chat with his partner and decides to use the review. Only an inside edge can save him...

4.5 0

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. NOT OUT! That's brushed the trousers! Length ball around off, nips back in a great deal. Cuts Roy, who looks to defend, in half. There's a sound as the ball goes through him. Now, Paine puts in an acrobatic effort to dive and grab that with a leap to his left. As usual, there's a huge appeal post that, only for umpire Kumar Dharmasena to shake his head. Paine asks his bowler and the man at mid off or covers, before taking it upstairs. Snicko confirms the absence of the bat. So, Australia lose the sole review in as early as the fifth over.

DRS time! Tim Paine takes a good tumbling catch to his left but sees nothing in response from the umpire. Seems to be confident enough and just has a word with the bowler before signaling the 'T'. There was a definite sound. Roy is the man in question.

End of Over : 3 2 Runs ENG: 20/0
2.6 0

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Good stop from Stoinis. Fuller than the previous one by Stanlake, driven on the up down the ground. Mid off gets to his right and stops it cleanly. Four dots to end the over.

2.5 0

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Three in a row! Length ball outside off, pushed off the back foot straight to covers.

2.4 0

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Roy punches it wonderfully yet again, only as far as the man at covers, though. Dot ball.

2.3 0

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. On a length outside off, punched off the back foot towards covers.

2.2 2

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Length ball outside off, Roy flays at it. Gets it off the outer half over backward point. Tye runs to his right from third man and uses his feet to stop the ball. Could be dangerous. Here, though, he saves a couple.

2.1 0

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. This delivery is pushed from the crease to the off side.

End of Over : 2 14 Runs ENG: 18/0
1.6 4

Jhye Richardson to Jonny Bairstow. FOUR! Consecutive ones and third in this over. It's not going right for Australia and Richardson. He hurls it in on a length around middle and leg, Bairstow just meets it with the full phase of the bat, angling towards mid-wicket. The contact is good enough and the outfield assists him in getting it to the fence. 14 runs off this over, an expensive beginning for Jhye Richardson.

1.5 4

Jhye Richardson to Jonny Bairstow. FOUR! Second boundary in the over! This one is just dismissed from his presence by Bairstow. Full and width on offer as well. Jonny reaches out and smashes it well over covers for another boundary.

1.4 0

Jhye Richardson to Jonny Bairstow. Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.

1.3 4

Jhye Richardson to Jonny Bairstow. FOUR! Shot! Timing all the way. Bowled full outside off, Bairstow pushes it straight down the ground. Beats mid off easily. That's the first boundary of the game.

1.2 2

Jhye Richardson to Jonny Bairstow. Wonderfully played. Length ball around off and middle, Bairstow heaves it with a cross bat through backward square leg. Runs well to collect two before the man from fine leg mops it up.

1.1 0

Jhye Richardson to Jonny Bairstow. Hurled on a length on off, Bairstow stands tall and blocks it back towards the bowler.

Jhye Richardson will run in from the other end with the second new ball. A couple of slips in place for him.

End of Over : 1 4 Runs ENG: 4/0
0.6 0

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. On a length outside off, Roy lets it go. Decent start for both the sides.

0.5 0

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. A low full toss angling in, Jason hits straight to the man at mid-wicket for nothing.

0.4 2

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. Excellent punch that from Roy. Pure timing. He gets it past mid off. Travis Head chases it down from mid on and keeps it down to a brace.

0.3 1

Billy Stanlake to Jonny Bairstow. Another waste of effort. A 90.5 mph delivery speared full on the pads. Bairstow helps it to fine leg and gets to the other end.

0.2 0

Billy Stanlake to Jonny Bairstow. A stifled appeal next up! Back of a length ball angling in a touch, Bairstow misses the flick and the ball goes off the pads to the off side. Nothing from the umpire.

0.1 1

Billy Stanlake to Jason Roy. 89.2 mph is the reading on the pace meter after Stanlake delivered that! Good one to begin. He, however, hurls it full on the pads, making it easy for Roy to flick it to fine leg and open his account.

It's time! The 11 Men in Yellow follow the two clad in red and black. Now, two more with dark blue jerseys and with willows in hand step on to the field. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow are their names. The former will face Billy Stanlake. One slip in place. We're off!

TEAM NEWS - One change apiece for both the teams. Original skipper Eoin Morgan returns for England, meaning, Sam Billings is back on the bench. For Australia, Billy Stanlake is back and fit and he replaces Kane Richardson in the XI.

TOSS - It's a hat-trick! Australia win their third toss on the trot and OPT TO CHASE.

Although the toss will confirm the same, Eoin Morgan is expected to be fit and lead England. Back spasms had kept him out of the second ODI. If he does turn up, this will be the 50th time he will be playing against Australia in an ODI. The hosts are yet to put in a clinical performance, having given a sniff to the tourists in both the games. Billy Stanlake was seen running in, in the nets and should come back into the XI. On the outset, this ODI promises to be a belter. Will get you the toss and the team news in a bit. Stay tuned.

Two games. Two unthreatening sways. England 2, Australia 0. Here we are for the third one. Welcome to our coverage from the day-nighter to be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. One's will becomes stronger when one is pushed back. With the Aussies' backs to the wall, we can expect them to come out all guns blazing. After all, they have another huge record at stake - if they lose today, it will be the first time since 1986-87 that they would've lost back-to-back series against England.

End of Over : 37.0 AUS: 239/10

Thar brings us to the end of yet another game of which Australia have ended on their losing side. They might complain of lack of senior players right now, but if you could look at their one-day record over the last 18 months, it is not worthy of boasting in spite of having key players then. They have 24 hours to try and eke out a win against this solid-looking England side which will be gung-ho for a whitewash. Join us on Thursday, 21st June, 2018 at 1400 LOCAL (1300 GMT). ADIOS! TAKE CARE!

ALEX HALES HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH FOR HIS 147 FROM 92 BALLS. Says that this is as good as it gets, to achieve this win on his home ground and beating their own score 2 years ago against Pakistan. Admits that with the pool of talent currently in England, all players are on their toes throughout and that brings out the best in them.

Victorious England captain, Eoin Morgan, feels that this is certainly a day when everyone in the dressing room will be proud of what has been achieved. Praises his guys for being relentless with the bat and ball. Is feeling proud of his top 3 batsmen at the moment who can bat at very high strike rates and keep coming at the opposition. Is also happy that the team will have selection headaches when Ben Stokes returns and believes it is a nice place to be in when the World Cup comes next year. For the remaining two games, Morgan says that the management will assess the bowlers before the next ODI in Durham. The batting looks settled, so one might not see a change there, he says. On the World Cup plans, Eoin believes that the team has put itself in a position wherein it can adapt to the changes in the modern game and if the players continue to do so, they will be in a great space come the big event.

A distraught Aussie skipper, Tim Paine, says that this is the hardest day he has ever had in the last 16-17 years of his career. Stresses that they are a young side and are learning. Admits that it was very difficult to keep fielding placements for the batsmen as England just kept finding the gaps and are in red-hot form at the moment. On being asked about their World Cup plans, Tim says that 12 months' gap is a really long time and by then, 6 of the senior guys will be back in the side, which should change the complexion of this unit.

Question mark in front of Australia. Seems like they were scheduled a weekly off initially but were then forced to come to office by their manager. The result? An underwhelming batting and bowling display. Tim Paine did a good job in the field to ensure that no one bowler went for a lot and everyone shared the spoils. Still, only Andrew Tye got to his ton. With the bat, Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis did offer some fightback but once the partnership was broken, it just ended way too quickly. Stay tuned for the presentation.

A perfect game for England, can one say? Yes I guess. After making hash of comfortable positions in the first 2 games, today the home side got its best foot forward. They accepted the invitation to bat first and boy, did they feast. Barring Buttler, everyone had a good hit in the top 5, that too at a strike rate in excess of 130. And when they came to defend, the seamers struggled initially but then bounced back. Once again, the difference turned out to be the two spinners - Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid had combined figures of 15-0-75-7.

Another disappointing game for Australia. Probably this was the worst for them in all the three games. Not because of the run margin but because they simply did not turn up today. The bowlers were sent to all parts of the boundary and the batsmen did not show any gumption, save aside Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis.

36.6 W

Adil Rashid to Billy Stanlake. OUT! Stumped it will be and that ends the game. A WHOPPING 242-RUN WIN FOR ENGLAND - Their heaviest over any opposition and Australia's biggest defeat margin. Floated outside off, the googly, Stanlake comes down the track and looks to defend but misses the wrong 'un. Buttler collects and whips off the bails. It is still referred upstairs as Stanlake made a slight attempt to get back but replays confirm that it is not enough. ENGLAND GO 3-0 UP!!!

36.5 0

27.2 0

David Willey to Glenn Maxwell. Outside off, flayed straight to point.

27.1 4

David Willey to Glenn Maxwell. FOUR! Ok... smart from Maxwell. Cheeky in fact. David Willey to Marcus Stoinis. OUT! Poor running and a needless run out. Half the Aussie side is back in the hut and coach Justin Langer cannot bear to watch in the dressing room. Stoinis tickles this towards deep mid-wicket and does no calling. He takes the single, blindly turns for the second, does not even look at his partner, runs around the bowler a touch and has no idea where the throw is coming from. Bairstow returns a nice sharp throw to Buttler who disturbs the stumps. Stoinis is yards short. No communication with Maxwell at all. The Big Show had waited at the striker's end for a second, just to check whether Stoinis wanted the second. Then he started to run after seeing Stoinis charge. What a waste of a wicket.

He could have easily bowled a dart after getting hit for a six on the previous ball but he backed his guts and tossed it on middle. Liam Plunkett to Marcus Stoinis. A short ball now, pulled through mid-wicket for a single.

DRINKS BREAK. Australia have done well to maintain a healthy run rate so far. But the asking rate is so high that it looks meaningless. Once again, Moeen is putting a lid on the proceedings and has already picked up 2 scalps. How long can Australia fight?

14.1 W

Moeen Ali to Shaun Marsh. OUT! Marsh is outta here. He tries to send this out of the park but this is one of those areas where he could not clear. No explanation though. Did the ball stop on him? Did he not get to the pitch of the ball? Did he get more height than elevation? Most of us are puzzled. Because it seemed a very good shot. Tossed up on middle, Marsh comes down the track and sends it into oblivion. At first sight, it seems like it is a big hit but then when the ball comes down, we find Liam Plunkett taking the catch at the long on fence! Second wicket for Moeen.
