Hong Kong vs Pakistan Highlights And Cricket Score 2nd Match - ODI Commentary
A 53-run stand for the 6th wicket between Kinchit Shah and Aizaz Khan helped their team's cause a bit but it was not enough. Once the partnership was broken, the following batsmen fell like a pack of cards. Usman Khan was the tormenter-in-chief as he took three wickets in an over. The Pakistani bowlers didn't allow the tail to wag as well. Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan were in their elements and took 2 wickets apiece. Looks like it will be a cakewalk for Pakistan. Can the Hong Kong bowlers spring a surprise? Join us on the other side of the break.
A terrific bowling performance from Pakistan has ensured that Hong Kong have been bundled out for a meager total. No surprise though as it was too much of an ask for the minnows to compete against a team who are at the top of their game at the moment. The Hong Kong openers started cautiously, got off to starts but failed to convert them. The Men in Green continued to take wickets at regular intervals, denying the opposition any sort of momentum.
Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur is being interviewed near the ropes and he says that his team stuck to the back of a length and kept the lines tight. Adds further that he is happy where his side is at the moment. Feels that the finger spinners did not turn the ball as much last night. Reckons it was a bit more humid and bit more conducive for spin last night as compared to today. States that all his boys have worked hard to improve their fielding standards and applauds his fielders for taking a couple of good catches and making some important run outs. Admits that Mohammad Nawaz is a good bowler and feels that the wickets will get drier as the tournament progresses and Nawaz will come into play more in the later stages. States that they will look to go ahead with a professional batting display today and chase the total down as early as possible. Informs that his team has trained hard in Lahore before coming here and also have gone through three training sessions on this ground. Hence he believes that they cannot complain about the heat and ends by saying that it is what it is and they have to work hard.
Hasan Ali to Ehsan Nawaz. OUT! That's the final nail in the coffin! On a length on middle and off, Ehsan taps it towards mid on and takes off. His partner doesn't respond and turns his back on him. The substitute, Mohammad Nawaz has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Ali is backing up nicely. He picks up the ball and lobs it to Sarfraz as Ehsan is stranded halfway. He tries to get back but the keeper takes the bails off. The Pakistan skipper looks angry. It is taken upstairs. The replay finds the batsman well short. HONG KONG ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 116!
Seems that a suicidal run out has taken place. Nawaz is the man in question. Looks like he is a goner.
Shadab Khan to Nadeem Ahmed. Outside off, Ahmed pushes at it but misses.
Shadab Khan to Ehsan Nawaz. The batsman works it down the leg side. One run added to the total.
Shadab Khan to Ehsan Nawaz. An appeal for an LBW turned down! Googly around off, Nawaz prods forward to block but is hit on the pads. Shadab is confident but the umpire shakes his head. The impact might have saved him.
If Pakistan are not able to pick up the final wicket by 1830 local, then we will have the innings break as and when the innings ends. However, if they do manage to get that final wicket before 1430 GMT, then they will come out to bat till 1900 local.

Nadeem Ahmed strides out to bat.
Hasan Ali to Kinchit Shah. OUT! Hasan Ali gets his second wicket! Hong Kong are sliding downhill in a jiffy. On a length around off, leaving the southpaw. Shah is not quite to the pitch of the ball as he pushes at it and is not in control of the shot as well. It flies towards Shadab Khan at backward point who leaps and takes it with utmost ease.
Fakhar Zaman to Ehsan Nawaz. Wicket-to-wicket line from Zaman, the batsman comes forward and blocks it.
Fakhar Zaman to Ehsan Nawaz. Coming in with the arm, Nawaz tries to defend it but gets an inside edge onto his pads.

Ehsan Nawaz is the new man in.
Usman Khan to Tanwir Afzal. OUT! Make that three wickets in the over! Usman Khan is on fire. He is running through the lower order single-handedly. Steams in from around the wicket and bowls a fuller length ball around off. The ball seams in a touch after landing and that is enough to breach the forward defense of Afzal to hit the timber. Usman will be on a hat-trick in the next over.
Tanwir Afzal comes out to bat.
Usman Khan to Scott McKechnie. OUT! Another one bites the dust! The DRS hasn't come into play because of the batsman's mistake. I think however that it would have hardly mattered as it looked dead to the naked eye. Coming back to the ball, it was full and fast around off. McKechnie shuffled across and tried to clip it across but missed to get hit on the boots. Another convincing shout from Pakistan and up went the umpire's finger. Well, Scott walked across to his partner and wanted to signal the 'T' but he was timed out by the umpire. Two wickets in the space of 4 balls for Usman Khan.
McKechnie has taken a late call to take the review against an LBW decision. However, the umpire walks across to him and tells that he has exceeded the stipulated time, that is 15 seconds, before he challenged the decision. He has been given the marching orders now.
Usman Khan to Scott McKechnie. The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads.
Usman Khan to Scott McKechnie. On a length on middle and off, defended solidly off the back foot.
Scott McKechnie comes out to bat.
Usman Khan to Aizaz Khan. OUT! Bowled 'em! The sound of timber is music to the ears of a pace bower. Usman is absolutely delighted! The promising 53-run stand has been nipped in the bud. Coming back to the ball, it is in the avenue of apprehension. Aizaz is unsure whether to come forward or stay back. Eventually, he takes a step forward gingerly in order to block it but the ball nips in after pitching and the batsman is beaten by pace as well. Misses it altogether to get his stumps shattered. Can Pakistan clean up the tail in a jiffy now?
Usman Khan to Aizaz Khan. Wide! A bit shorter in length but the line is awry. It is down the leg side as Aizaz misses his swipe across the line.

Mohammad Amir to Kinchit Shah. Straighter on this occasion, fuller in length, helped to the man at square leg.

Mohammad Amir to Aizaz Khan. Pitched up delivery, kept out watchfully.
Mohammad Amir to Aizaz Khan. Short ball but there is not much pace on this track to zip through to the batsman. Aizaz pulls it away towards square leg.

Usman Khan to Aizaz Khan. Safe! Brilliant use of the DRS from Hong Kong. Usman comes from around the wicket and bowls a good length ball around off. Aizaz tries to pull it across but is hit high on the back pad. Pakistan appeal in unison and the umpire obliges. Shah tells his partner to challenge the decision and he does so. Time for the replays. The Hawk Eye rolls in and shows that the ball is going over the stumps. Relief for the batsman.
Review time! Aizaz Khan has been trapped in front of the wickets but his partner eggs him to take the review instantly to which he agrees. Height can be the only factor which might save him.
Usman Khan to Kinchit Shah. Back of a length outside off, Kinchit guides it past the backward point fielder to rotate strike. The 50-run stand is up between the duo. These two are going along well now and need to carry on the good work.
Usman Khan to Kinchit Shah. Too many deliveries on the pads from the pacers. Shah gets forward and across to flick it through wide mid on. The deep mid-wicket fielder has a lot of ground to cover and by the time he cuts it off, the batsmen take two.
Usman Khan is back on.
Mohammad Amir to Aizaz Khan. Pitched up ball around off, Aizaz places it towards the point region.
Mohammad Amir to Aizaz Khan. Amir pulls his length back a touch and lands it in the corridor of uncertainty, Khan camps back and blocks it towards point. Wants a run but there isn't one on offer.

Mohammad Amir to Kinchit Shah. On a length, shaping in, defended stoutly off the back foot.
Mohammad Amir to Kinchit Shah. Back to hitting the good length area and the natural angle is bringing it into the southpaw. Shah comes forward and pats it towards point.
Mohammad Amir to Aizaz Khan. Shorter in length and slower in pace probably. Aizaz has ample time to pull it through square leg for a run.
Mohammad Amir to Aizaz Khan. On a length, angling across Khan. He reaches to the pitch of the ball and taps it towards the point region.
Mohammad Amir to Kinchit Shah. Fractionally overpitched on the pads, Shah clips it nicely towards fine leg to rotate strike.
Mohammad Amir to Kinchit Shah. Starts off his second spell with a full length ball around off, Kinchit leans ahead and defends it with a straight bat.
Yup. Not for long. Mohammad Amir comes back for a bowl immediately as his captain orders.
Shadab Khan to Aizaz Khan. Outside off, Aizaz has a push but misses. The keeper appeals but in vain. 'AAJA AAMIR!' he shouts. Meaning the fast bowler should come in soon.

Shadab Khan to Kinchit Shah. WIDE. Down the leg side, flick shot missed.
Shadab Khan to Kinchit Shah. Full and around off, watchfully defended.
Shoaib Malik to Aizaz Khan. SIX! BANG! That has come out of the blue. Absolutely against the run of play as Aizaz skips down the track and gets to the pitch of this tossed up ball and swings through the line of the delivery to get it over the mid off fielder. The elevation, and timing is exquisite and the ball sails over the long off boundary for a huge one. Hong Kong will love to get more of these and get some quick runs on the board.
Shoaib Malik to Kinchit Shah. The batsman rocks onto the back foot and punches the ball. The batsmen have run through for a single.
Shoaib Malik to Kinchit Shah. Straighter ball again as Shah tries to flick it but misses the ball and gets rapped on the pads. Luckily he's not in front of the wicket there.

Shoaib Malik time.
Shadab Khan to Aizaz Khan. The batsman works it down the leg side.
Shadab Khan to Aizaz Khan. Oops, lucky. Full and on middle, Khan looks to sweep but misses. The ball hits the back of his bat and the keeper is blinded, hence does not realize that there is a catch in the offing. First slip is a bit late to react and hence cannot get to the ball in time as well.
Shadab Khan to Aizaz Khan. The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
Shadab Khan to Aizaz Khan. MISFIELD, FOUR! Poor from Fakhar. Full and wide outside off, this time Aizaz picks the spin and lofts it wide of Imam-ul-Haq at short extra cover. The ball should have been cut off by the fielders in the deep but Zaman reaches, dives and tries to pull the ball back in but it rolls back into the ropes.
Shadab Khan to Aizaz Khan. Now the leggie from the leggie, Khan looks to drive but misses.

Shadab Khan to Aizaz Khan. Dishes this one a bit wide of off, Khan shoulders arms.
Shadab Khan to Aizaz Khan. Khan has been struck on the pads as he looked to play that off the front foot. The fielding side are asking the question. The impact was an issue and that is why, may be, the umpire decides the batsman is not out.
Shadab Khan to Aizaz Khan. Tossed up on the off stump, kept out off the front foot.
Aizaz Khan walks in.
Shadab Khan to Ehsan Khan. OUT! LBW! What a trap this from Shadab. Beat him with a tossed up leggie on the previous ball and then fires in a perfectly executed googly in line with the stumps. Khan is completely beaten by pace as he rocks back looking to turn it into the leg side off the back foot. The batsman expected the ball to turn away but to his shock it comes in and that too a bit quicker on landing. The ball beats his inside edge and raps the pads in front of the wickets. Pakistan go up confidently and the umpire obliges immediately. Very very smart spin bowling from Shadab. He completely foxed Ehsan there. Half the side back in the hut.
Shadab Khan to Ehsan Khan. Beaten! We have some spin here. Shadab tosses this one up and wide of off. Ehsan looks to tentatively push at it but the ball lands, grips and spins sharply beating the outside edge of his bat.
Ehsan Khan is the new man in at number 6, replacing Hayat.
Shadab Khan to Babar Hayat. OUT! Easy as chalk and cheese. Shadab strikes with his first ball. Tosses this one outside off and Hayat, without even having the patience to try and read him first, wildly jumps down the track. Looks to swing wildly but is nowhere near the pitch of the ball and misses as it turns away slightly. Sarfraz doesn't. Easy stumping.
First sign of spin. Shadab Khan into the attack.
Hasan Ali to Kinchit Shah. A full pitch ball around off, Shah defends it off the front foot.
Hasan Ali to Kinchit Shah. Fuller again a bit outside off. Shah does well to get his front foot ahead and across, drives this well but again straight to the man at covers. These strokes will surely increase his confidence. It's time to find the gaps more often now.
Hasan Ali to Kinchit Shah. Fuller in length and in line with the stumps. Shah drives this crisply but straight to mid off.
Hasan Ali to Babar Hayat. Lands this one a bit wide of off and fractionally shorter in length. Hayat waits and opens the bat face to glide it into the vacant gully region to scamper through for a single.
Hasan Ali to Babar Hayat. A length ball around off is blocked out off the back foot.
Hasan Ali to Kinchit Shah. Ali starts with a good length ball attacking the body of Shah. Kinchit works it down well into the leg side to change strike.
Drinks time. So as expected, Pakistan have managed to keep things tight and have also sent three Hong Kong batsmen packing. Hong Kong will look to build a partnership and form a strong base. The two batsmen will hope to bat until the next drinks break. Their lower order could then launch an attack during the final overs of the innings. Pakistan will be keen on entering the Hong Kong tail as soon as possible.
Faheem Ashraf to Babar Hayat. Bumper again, good height this time. Hayat does well to get under it and let it go.
Faheem Ashraf to Babar Hayat. A bit short this one around off. Hayat seems surprised as he goes back quickly to keep this one out. Well bowled by Ashraf.
Faheem Ashraf to Babar Hayat. Ashraf keeps it tight by landing this one a bit outside off on a good length. The ball has an inward angle to it which cramps the batsman for room as he blocks it out onto the ground.
Faheem Ashraf to Babar Hayat. Lands it in the corridor around off, Hayat pushes it to the cover region off the back foot.
Faheem Ashraf to Kinchit Shah. Fuller ball in line with the stumps is impressively flicked to the square leg region for a single.

Faheem Ashraf to Babar Hayat. Wide! Bumper bumped in a bit too high. Ashraf starts the over with a wide.
Hasan Ali to Kinchit Shah. Pulls the length back and keeps it around off. Shah watchfully blocks it under his eyes.
Hasan Ali to Kinchit Shah. Fuller length ball on off, Kinchit leans forward and drives this one sweetly to the left of mid off. The fielder there, substitute Nawaz, does excellently to run across and dive to stop the ball with one hand. He has saved four runs for his side.
Hasan Ali to Kinchit Shah. Dishes this one a bit fuller in length. Gets the batsman to come forward and defend solidly.
Hasan Ali to Kinchit Shah. A bit shorter of a good length on the batsman's body. Shah turns this around into the square leg region.
Kinchit Shah is the next batsman in.
Hasan Ali to Christopher Carter. OUT! Three down. Hasan strikes! No celebration though. Oh there it is... a mild one. A length ball outside off, Carter walks down the track and tries to hit it through the covers. However, he does not keep it down. Imam-ul-Haq at extra cover takes a sharp catch and Hong Kong have lost another. Whenever such dismissals are seen, I remember the great Ian Chappell on air during the 2007 ODI World Cup. Ian Bell of England got out to Australia during a league game, trying to hit the ball over the top, getting caught in a similar fashion as Carter today. That time, Chappell had remarked, 'Well, there is no point in playing this kind of a shot. You either go over the top and clear the infield or hit the ball along the ground. Not the in-between shots which are neither over nor along.'
Hasan Ali to Babar Hayat. Starts the over with a short of a length ball around off, Hayat taps it into point for a quick single.
Faheem Ashraf to Christopher Carter. Swerving in on a length, too straight for the bowler's liking. The batsman tucks it with a closed bat face towards wide mid on. Another tidy over, only 1 from it.
Faheem Ashraf to Christopher Carter. Back of a length around off, Christopher hangs back and plays it with an angled bat towards cover-point. Wants a run but it is not there on offer.
Faheem Ashraf to Christopher Carter. Faheem brings out the shortish delivery and it is pretty well-directed too. Carter drops his wrists, sways away from the line and evades it nicely.

Hasan Ali to Babar Hayat. A good length ball on off, Hayat pushes at it and gets an inside edge onto his pads. The ball rolls down towards square leg and the batsmen pinch a single.
Hasan Ali to Babar Hayat. Banged in short. Hayat looks to pull but the ball bounces a bit more than he expected and is beaten. Sarfraz behind pouches it with his fingers pointing upwards. Effort ball from Ali, he's known to produce these from time to time.
Hasan Ali to Christopher Carter. This time Carter steers it a bit to the left of point and gets a single.
Hasan Ali to Christopher Carter. A similar delivery is tapped towards point. The batsmen look for a single but it's not on offer.

Hasan Ali into the attack.
Faheem Ashraf to Babar Hayat. Ends the over with a back of a length delivery around off. Hayat dabs it into the point region for a single. He will retain the strike.
Faheem Ashraf to Christopher Carter. Ashraf dishes this a bit wide of off stump and a bit shorter of a length. Carter slashes at it, gets a thick outside edge and the ball flies towards third man, but they take just a single. The batsman and bowler both would feel a bit unlucky.
Faheem Ashraf to Christopher Carter. Fuller ball on the legs, flicked but straight to the man at square leg. No run again.

Usman Khan to Babar Hayat. Good ball to end the over as this length ball on middle and off is kept out with a straight bat.
Usman Khan to Babar Hayat. Good wrists there from Hayat as he flicks it well but straight to the man at square leg. Needs to find the gaps more often.
Usman Khan to Babar Hayat. A shortish length delivery is defended off the back foot by Hayat.
Usman Khan to Babar Hayat. Fast and straight by Usman. Hayat tries to flick again but is beaten in pace and is rapped on his thigh pad.
Usman Khan to Babar Hayat. Hayat misses out here as he flicks this length ball straight to square leg. The timing was good there but the placement wasn't. No run there.
Usman Khan to Babar Hayat. Usman starts with a good length ball around off, Hayat defends solidly from the crease.
Faheem Ashraf to Christopher Carter. Ashraf angles this outside off, left alone watchfully by Carter.
Christopher Carter is the new man in.
Faheem Ashraf to Anshy Rath. OUT! Nicked and pouched! The angle away from the left-hander does the trick. Ashraf continues with the good length delivery around off. Rath is enticed into playing at it but the ball lands and moves further away from the skipper who is looking to push at it with no real positive intent. The half-hearted attempt without any foot movement does him in as he gets a faint edge and Sarfraz behind is safe as a house. Two down, Hong Kong.
Faheem Ashraf to Anshy Rath. A fuller length ball around off is blocked out off the front foot.
Faheem Ashraf to Anshy Rath. A bit short and wide again. Rath cuts it hard but this time does not find the gap. The fielder at point does well to react quickly to his left to stop the ball from going past him. Rath misses out this time.
Faheem Ashraf to Anshy Rath. A short of a good length ball on middle and off is defended off the back foot.
Faheem Ashraf to Anshy Rath. FOUR! Cracker of a cut! Ashraf starts off with a loosener as he dishes this one on a shorter length and well outside off. Rath has enough time to rock back and across and cut it fiercely through point. The ball zips across the outfield and to the boundary. Ideal start to the over by Hong Kong.
Faheem Ashraf into the attack.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Dishes this one on a length attacking the stumps with a bit of inward angle on it. Rath leans across and flicks it into the square leg region for a single. Good over this for Hong Kong.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. FOUR! BLAST! Short and outside off, Rath flays his arms and crashes this uppishly, over point for a boundary.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Full and around off, AR looks to drive but the ball swings in and goes off the inner half towards mid on.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. That is quick. Perhaps the Hong Kong batsmen would not have faced so much pace back home. A quick bouncer, outside off, Anshuman looks to hook but misses.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Comes in again, Rath misses his flick and gets hit on the pads.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. A length ball around off, coming in, defended from the crease.
Mohammad Amir to Babar Hayat. A good length ball around off is kept out with a straight bat.
Mohammad Amir to Babar Hayat. Bouncer again, Hayat not taking him on so early in the innings. He ducks down and lets the ball go behind.
Mohammad Amir to Babar Hayat. BUMPER! Surprisingly, the first one of the innings. Hayat watchfully ducks under it.
Mohammad Amir to Anshy Rath. Tries a bit too hard and in the process strays on the pads, Rath stays in his crease, lets the ball come near him and flicks it to the square leg region for a single.

Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Short ball attacking the body of the batsman as he pulls it through square leg for an easy run.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. FOUR! Not that convincing but he will take it! Back of a length and some room on offer, the Hong Kong skipper stays back and with minimal footwork guides it past the slip region to the third man fence.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. The batsman defends it from within the crease.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Good length ball around off, Rath hangs back and defends it with a straight bat.

Mohammad Amir to Babar Hayat. A fuller length ball on off is defended off the front foot.
Mohammad Amir to Babar Hayat. Tapped towards point, no run on offer.
Babar Hayat comes out to bat.
Mohammad Amir to Anshy Rath. OUT! Lack of experience showing here. Hong Kong have gifted away a wicket. Nizakat will be kicking himself as he won't be getting such chances more often. Coming back to the dismissal, Amir lands this a bit shorter of a good length around off. Rath taps this towards point and takes off. Nizakat responds but is a bit slow to start. Shadab quickly moves across, picks up the ball and has a shy at the batting end. Nizakat is seen jogging to the crease and does not even drag his bat as the ball hits the stumps directly. There is a run out appeal and it has been referred upstairs. Replays show that as the ball hits the stumps, Nizakat's bat is in the air and he is also not inside the crease. May be he was trying to avoid getting hit and that has cost him his wicket, not very smart.
Direct hit! Is Nizakat in trouble? Referred upstairs...
Mohammad Amir to Anshy Rath. Fuller length ball around off is driven straight to covers.
Mohammad Amir to Anshy Rath. Good start by Amir as he has seemed to hurry the batsman into the block. He keeps it a bit outside off and shorter than a good length. Rath gets his bat down in time to defend this one off the back foot.
Usman Khan to Nizakat Khan. A shorter of a good length ball around off is pushed towards point.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Shot! That is impressive from Rath as he stands tall to this short of a length delivery around off and punches it through the cover region. He finds the gap but the timing is not enough as the fielder stops it to just three.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Usman from over the wicket is angling these from a wide angle and the batsman seems to have beaten by the acute angle into him. Usman fires this one a bit fuller but on the middle and leg line. Rath looks to flick this onto the leg side but is beaten due to the inward movement and is rapped on the pads. Pakistan appeal, but the umpire is unmoved. Missing leg probably.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Usman Khan looks to have found his rhythm as his pace looks to be increasing with every ball. He keeps this on a length attacking the stumps. Rath shows respect and defends it onto the ground.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. A bit shorter again but Rath keeps it out solidly from within his crease.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Lands this one a bit shorter outside the off stump line. Rath gets on the back foot and taps it towards the point region.
Mohammad Amir to Nizakat Khan. A good ball in the corridor of uncertainty is blocked out well by Khan to end the over.
Mohammad Amir to Anshy Rath. A fuller length ball is driven crisply to mid on and the batsmen scamper through for a quick single.
Mohammad Amir to Anshy Rath. Good tight bowling this from Amir. Not much of movement but he needs to keep it tight and build some pressure on these Hong Kong batsmen. Rath defends this one of the front foot.
Mohammad Amir to Anshy Rath. A good length ball on the middle stump line is blocked out with a straight bat.
Mohammad Amir to Nizakat Khan. Similar delivery but this time Khan drives it to the right of mid on and takes a quick single.

Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Good length ball on off is defended off the front foot.

Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Keeps it a bit wide of off and Rath leaves it alone.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Similar delivery and a similar result. The batsman is beaten again by some extra pace and bounce.
Usman Khan to Anshy Rath. Beaten! Good start from Usman. He keeps it a bit shorter of a length just outside off. He's getting good bounce off the surface. Rath looks to tentatively push at the ball but misses completely.
Usman Khan to Nizakat Khan. Khan fires this one on the legs of Khan who nudges it to fine leg to get another single.
Usman Khan to bowl with the second new ball.
Mohammad Amir to Nizakat Khan. Keeps it a bit fuller on the off stump line. Khan pushes it into the cover region to retain strike for the new over. Good start for Hong Kong.
Mohammad Amir to Nizakat Khan. Good this from the top quality bowler. He keeps this on a good length around off. Well defended by Khan off the front foot.
Mohammad Amir to Nizakat Khan. FOUR! Amir misses his line again and strays down the leg side. Khan gets some bat on it which is more than enough to take the ball racing to the fine leg boundary. Amir not getting it right here. He needs to focus and come back strong now.
Mohammad Amir to Nizakat Khan. Edged but falls short. Good line and length this from Amir. He keeps it on a length around off angling across the batsman. Khan plays for the inward movement and edges it. But the loose hands ensure the ball does not carry to the second slip fielder.
Mohammad Amir to Nizakat Khan. FOUR! If they dreamt of a start, it would have been similar to this. Classic timing there by Khan as he flicks this full length delivery angling onto his pads. The ball races across the deep square leg boundary and Hong Kong have started on a high.
Mohammad Amir to Nizakat Khan. Nice shot to get things underway. Amir dishes out a fuller length delivery just outside off. Looking for some inswing but not much there. Khan, elegantly drives on the up and finds the gap in the cover region. They take a brace to get going.
The players are getting ready to pose for the team photographs. It is now time for the national anthems. After the completion, we are ready to get rolling. Nizakat Khan and Anshuman Rath will open the batting for Hong Kong. Mohammad Amir to steam in with the first new ball. Two slips in place. Here we go...
Pakistan captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, says they also wanted to bat first but the toss is not in their control. Adds further that they will try to restrict Hong Kong to the lowest possible total and chase down the target at the earliest. Congratulates the Hong Kong team for qualifying for this tournament. States that his team will not relax even a bit and will look to play some hard cricket. Mentions that this a long tournament and they are just focused on playing well. Also reckons that as the tournament will progress, the surface will start to get slower and will turn more. Ends by saying that they are going in with four pacers and one spinner.
Hong Kong captain, Anshuman Rath, says there is no better place to perform for them than the Asia Cup. Adds further that as a team they are fit, in good form, full of confidence and raring to go out and perform. Reckons that they have beaten top teams in the past and are confident of repeating it. States that at this level it is all about confidence. Ends by saying that they will look to continue with their good form and confidence with which they won the Qualifiers a few days ago.
TOSS - Hong Kong have won the toss and elected to bat.
Hello and a warm welcome to the second match of the tournament between the 2017 Champions Trophy winners, Pakistan and the winners of 2018 Asia Cup Qualifiers, Hong Kong. Even though Pakistan are expected to roll over Hong Kong, if yesterday's match is of any relevance, a fighting performance from the underdogs is a strong and exciting possibility. Pakistan will be keen on taking their ODI form into the tournament and kick start their 2018 Asia Cup journey with a bang. Hong Kong, on the other hand, will look forward to enjoy this experience of playing against one of the top sides in world cricket and will be keen on putting in a competitive performance and make a match out of today's game.
Game 2 done and dusted. Cannot really say we have made the most of our weekend, can we? But Monday's match promises to be a cracker. It is a do-or-die game for Sri Lanka as they take on Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi at 1530 local (1130 GMT). Do join us. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
USMAN KHAN HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. He too, thanks the almighty and also his parents for supporting him throughout. Says that he always tries to take wickets when he comes on to bowl but today, luck was not with him when he bowled with the new ball. When he came back for his second spell, that time the ball was reversing and he made full use of that. On his injury while bowling, Usman says that it was not anything serious but just a bit of bleeding around the toe which he did not want to ignore. Hopes he continues to do well in his career.
Victorious Pakistan captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, thanks the almighty and rates the win as an 'easy' performance. Adds that there are small pieces they need to look into. Now, Ramiz Raja wants to know what are those small pieces. So Sarfraz says they should have won by 9 or 10 wickets while with the ball, his bowlers struggled early on. Given that their next match is against India, the skipper understands that all flaws need to be ironed out before the India game on Wednesday. Is not too happy with a few lapses in the field too. Tough guy, the captain. On the big match, he says that Pakistan will always look to give their best against India and September 19 will not be any different.
Hong Kong captain, Anshuman Rath, says that there were a lot of soft dismissals in the first innings. Agrees that their score was not good enough, especially, when they pride themselves in their batting. Credits the Pakistan bowlers, praises them as top class, but still laments the way his batsmen got out. Is disappointed that they did not show up tonight and did not even offer a fight. On the match overall, Anshuman says that early on, there was a bit of swing and there was some movement too but the batsmen struggled.
With the bat, well, Pakistan would have wanted to win by 10 wickets but they will be happy that all of Imam, Zaman and Azam got good runs in the middle. They will like to believe that they are in good stead heading into that big clash against India on September 19. And given that this is a game of numbers, how about this - Since 2016, Pakistan have won 14 out of 14 games in white-ball cricket in the Middle East. Please stay tuned for the presentation. Should not be long...
A mission which Pakistan would have wanted to achieve tonight. Hong Kong is such an opposition where complacency can cost one team and given that other units would fancy themselves to defeat them by big margins, the Men In Green would have wanted to make a statement. The bowlers struggled initially but then smartly lined to bowling tight lengths and restricted Hong Kong to 116. Usman Khan strut his stuff again, with a 3-fer while Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan took 2 wickets each.
6th consecutive win in ODIs for Pakistan. Agreed that all of those have been against minnows - 5 against Zimbabwe and one tonight. But still, they cannot control whom they play. Before these 6 games, they lost 0-5 to New Zealand and that is how they started 2018.
Aizaz Khan to Shoaib Malik. FOUR! PAKISTAN WIN BY 8 WICKETS AND 158 BALLS TO SPARE! A short ball, around off, probably rises a shade but no issues for Malik as he pulls it with authority over mid-wicket to end the game. It has barely lasted 60 overs.
Aizaz Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. MAIDEN ODI FIFTY FOR IMAM! This is the 5th time in ODI cricket that he has reached 50 but the previous four have seen him convert those into triple figures. A simple nudge through square leg to reach that small milestone. Scores are level now.
Aizaz Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Could have had his half century there. Outside off, Imam guides it slightly away from backward point and sets off for a single but Malik sends him back.
Aizaz Khan to Shoaib Malik. Outside off, tapped towards point for a single. Can Imam finish this off?
Aizaz Khan comes charging in as the new bowler but Malik is calm as a rock and just puts his hand up to stop him. Reason? Not ready.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. FOUR! Up and over. Good use of the feet. Dances down, gets to the pitch of the flighted delivery and thumps it over mid on. Two bounces and into the fence. Moves to 49. Pakistan need 3 to win.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Full and outside off, pushed straight to cover.
Ehsan Khan to Shoaib Malik. A short ball again, worked wide of mid-wicket for a run.
Ehsan Khan to Shoaib Malik. That's hit the batsman on his pads.
Ehsan Khan to Shoaib Malik. WIDE. Down the leg side, Malik lets it go.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. The quicker delivery now, but down the leg side. Nudged away past short fine leg and it is a bit of a teaser as the fielder jogs after it. Manages to pull it back inside the ropes and three runs are taken. 9 to win now.
Ehsan Khan to Shoaib Malik. On middle and leg, flicked through mid-wicket for a single.
Ehsan Nawaz to Shoaib Malik. Works this down the leg side for a run.
Ehsan Nawaz to Shoaib Malik. On middle, flicked towards square leg.
Ehsan Nawaz to Shoaib Malik. A bouncer on middle, Malik ducks.
Ehsan Nawaz to Imam-ul-Haq. On middle and leg, flicked towards mid-wicket for a single.
Ehsan Nawaz to Imam-ul-Haq. The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground.
Ehsan Nawaz to Imam-ul-Haq. SIX! What a shot. Seemed like a top edge but dear me, it has gone all the way! A flat hit. A short ball, Imam rocks back and tries to pull. From the first look, it seems like he is hurried into the stroke and gets a top edge. But no messrs, the ball flies over the mid-wicket fence.
Ehsan Nawaz to Imam-ul-Haq. WIDE. That is harsh on the bowler. Nawaz comes charging in and Imam also charges down. Now, seeing that, the bowler drops it short. However, it goes well over the head of the batsman who lets it go.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Outside off, eased towards cover for a run. 2 runs and a wicket from that over. Ehsan Khan has stood out tonight - 7-0-24-2 so far.
Ehsan Khan to Shoaib Malik. On middle, turning in, bunted down to long on for a single.
Ehsan Khan to Shoaib Malik. Almost a similar shot to the one played by Babar Azam in his dismissal. Again, the length is not all that short but Malik goes deep in his crease and at the last moment, opens the face of his bat to guide the ball towards backward point. Too much risk for a dot ball.
Ehsan Khan to Shoaib Malik. Down the leg side, Malik looks to flick, but then decides to pad it away. The ball goes towards short fine leg.
Shoaib Malik comes in at number 4 for the last rites...
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. OUT! Got him! Ehsan Khan has his second wicket. Just keeps the length a bit fuller than the previous one but Babar thinks it is there for the cut. Perhaps the ball stayed a touch low as well. An outside edge is induced and this time, Scott McKechnie behind does not fumble. A clean catch and a good one. He immediately is up in celebration and now, the umpire does not disagree for a change. Nice to see the players celebrating and not being consumed by the match situation...
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. A short ball to start the over, punched towards short mid-wicket.
Ehsan Nawaz to Babar Azam. 'AAJA, AAJA, AAJA!' is the call from Babar. This time he gets to do what he wanted to on the third ball, a tap and run behind the wickets, towards where gully would have been. An easy run.
Ehsan Nawaz to Babar Azam. Full and outside off, driven straight to mid off.
Ehsan Nawaz to Babar Azam. On middle and leg, flicked straight to short mid-wicket.
Ehsan Nawaz to Babar Azam. Back of a length outside off, coming in, Babar tries to tap and run to the off side but the ball drops just beside his feet and the bowler gets to it quickly. The thought is aborted immediately.
Ehsan Nawaz to Imam-ul-Haq. Outside off, Imam calmly steers it to third man for a single.
Ehsan Nawaz to Imam-ul-Haq. On a length around middle, defended back to the bowler. Seemed like there was some extra bounce on that.
Ehsan Nawaz into the attack now.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. 50-RUN STAND IS UP. In just 65 balls. The good thing about this partnership is that the batsmen have not done anything extraordinary to maintain the tempo. A touch short, around off and middle, Imam calmly works it through square leg to bring up that run.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Floated outside off, driven straight to cover.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Tossed up around off, watchfully defended back to the bowler.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. The batsman has punched the ball off the back foot. One run added to the total.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. A bit flighted outside off, Imam reaches out and drives it aerially, but wide of any human being around cover. There is a man in the deep and it is a single.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Full and outside off, Imam jumps down the track and blocks.
Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. FOUR! Classic shot. Landed outside off, Azam goes back, waits for the ball to come to him and then dabs it behind point for a boundary! Just 29 more to win now...
Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. On middle and leg, flicked towards mid-wicket.
Nadeem Ahmed to Imam-ul-Haq. Short and outside off, cut through point for a run.

Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. FOUR! Full and outside off, Azam comes down the track and drives it straight down the ground past mid on. No one in the deep and that is a boundary.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Short and outside off, cut towards backward point.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. Outside off, punched through the covers for a run.

Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Full and outside off, driven towards mid off.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. On middle, flicked through mid-wicket for a run.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Full and outside off, driven through mid off for a single.
Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. Jumps down the track, does Babar, but is not to the pitch of the ball. Forced to defend.
Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. Around middle and off, watchfully defended by coming forward.
Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. They manage to come back for the second.
Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. Full and around off, watchfully defended.
Nadeem Ahmed to Imam-ul-Haq. The batsman has driven it through mid on. They pick up a single.
Nadeem Ahmed to Imam-ul-Haq. Massive, massive LBW shout! Oh dear... Imam certainly seems to be riding his luck. This looked stone dead. Nadeem tossed this up from over the wicket and landed the ball in line of the stumps, at least, to the naked eye. Imam seemed to play all around that one as he looked to flick but missed the ball and was hit right in front of the sticks. Nadeem appealed and appealed but umpire George simply shook his head. Hawk Eye shows that to be plumb. Perhaps, the umpire might have thought the ball pitched outside leg. Sad day for Hong Kong. Nothing seems to be going their way.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. FOUR! Nice way to end a good over by Ehsan Khan. Babar shows his class as he rocks quickly onto his back foot seeing the ball a bit short and wide of off, the right-hander cuts it immaculately through the point region. His foot work was classy there as he moved back and across so quickly to get into a perfect position to play that shot. The execution was even better from the world class batsman there. Just 46 more to get now...
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Short and outside off, cut through point for a single.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Comes down the track to defend but is nowhere near the pitch of the ball and gets a thick inside edge onto his pads.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. The batsman works it down the leg side. They pick up a single.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Full on middle, Imam looks to flick it to the leg side but the ball turns a touch and goes off the leading edge towards cover.

Nadeem Ahmed to Imam-ul-Haq. Another flick, another single.

Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. Full and outside off, driven straight to cover.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Tossed up on off, defended off the front foot.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. The batsman defends it from within the crease.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Not Out! And that has surprised everyone of us here. Ehsan Khan fires this one from around the wicket and angling into Imam. The length is not short enough for the batsman to go back but that's exactly the mistake Imam has committed. The ball hits the deck and skids on with the arm, hitting the batsman in front of the wickets. It looks very close as Hong Kong go up in a big appeal. The umpire gives it not out though to our surprise. Hong Kong think for a while and then go for the review. The replays roll in and show that the ball is very close to the bat as it passes it and hits Imam's pads. There is no clear evidence of any involvement of the willow. There is a spike on the Snickometer but that seems to be after the ball passed the bat. However, the decision from Rod Tucker upstairs is Not Out. Hong Kong players look stunned but they have to move on with the game. Close call for Imam.
Review time! Imam-ul-Haq is the batsman in question. Big moment for Hong Kong.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Imam gets to the pitch of the ball and defends it.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. Fires it down the legs and Azam does well to get some bat on it and tucks it into behind the square leg region for a single.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. A bit flighted and shorter and outside off, punched into the covers for a single.
Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. Fuller ball on the stumps is flicked to square leg.
Nadeem Ahmed to Imam-ul-Haq. A short of length delivery has been cut away through square on the off side. Good effort by the fielder to ensure the ball does not cross the line at the deep point fence. Good running between the wickets by the Pakistani duo to pick up three runs for their team.
Nadeem Ahmed to Imam-ul-Haq. Defended off the back foot by the batsman.
Nadeem Ahmed to Imam-ul-Haq. Beaten! Beautifully bowled. He's bowled this a bit slow and gives it more flight than the previous deliveries.
Nadeem Ahmed to Imam-ul-Haq. Ahmed fires this one a bit outside off, Imam waits for the ball to arrive and smartly opens the face of his bat at the last moment to steer it into the third man region to pick up another brace. Pakistan are moving towards their target in a canter.
Nadeem Ahmed to Babar Azam. Ahmed tosses this one up on off, Azam drives this straight to covers.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Imam square cuts this shorter ball into the point region and gets a brace as he finds the gap there but the timing is not that good to take it across the fence.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. A bit quicker and shorter, blocked off the back foot.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. A bit wider of off, Imam looking to guide it behind into the third man region is beaten. On a different day it could have taken he edge and Khan would have got a second wicket for his team. However Imam survives.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Fuller and slower ball is driven to mid off.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Shorter and wider, cut straight to point.
Ehsan Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Starts nicely with a tossed up one just around off. Good signs for the spinners as the ball pitches, grips and turns away from Imam who defends off his back foot.
Aizaz Khan to Babar Azam. Unlucky! Full and outside off, Babar drives it straight back down the ground. But it is so straight that it hits the timber at the other end. 46/1 at the end of Powerplay 1.
Aizaz Khan to Babar Azam. Defended off the front foot by the batsman presenting the full face of the bat.
Aizaz Khan to Babar Azam. Full and outside off, Azam gets a good stride forward and defends it to the off side.
Aizaz Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. On middle and leg, flicked through square leg for a single.
Aizaz Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Comes down the track and drives it straight to cover.
Aizaz Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Full on middle, flicked straight to short mid-wicket.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. Tossed up slightly, Azam leans and drives it through the covers for a brace again.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. The batsman has defended it by getting right behind the line of the delivery.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. Off the mark in grand style. Full and outside off, Azam leans and drives it through the covers for a couple.
Ehsan Khan to Babar Azam. Fired on the pads, flicked to square leg.
Babar Azam is the new batsman in.
Ehsan Khan to Fakhar Zaman. OUT! Well, spin it is then to get that first breakthrough for Hong Kong, a big one at that. Can they build up on this and continue to pile pressure on the Pakistani batsmen? We surely will like to see a fight from the minnows. As for the dismissal, Ehsan Khan fires this one a bit outside off and shorter than a good length. Zaman sees the width on it and goes after the ball to cut it through the point region. However, the ball lands and skids through and Zaman is a bit late on the shot. He gets an outside edge but the keeper behind, Scott McKechnie, is not ready for the catch and is late to get up. As a result, the ball goes past his glove. But this is where luck comes in. The ball does not go past him. Instead, it hits his left thigh, then lobs up to his stomach, hits his right glove and eventually, he pouches it with his left glove! Now that is what is called - in the bread basket. Zaman, for some reason, wants a review but is then sent back. Snickometer detects a fat spike. Why would one review that? Anyways... let's move ahead.
Ehsan Khan into the attack from the other end.
Aizaz Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. FOUR! A beautiful cover drive. One of the most beautiful sights in cricket. Khan keeps it on a good length around off, a bit wide of off may be because of the angle. Imam drives beautifully on the up and finds the gap in the covers region for the ball to races across the boundary. Nice start after the break and Pakistan. 76 more needed...
Aizaz Khan to Fakhar Zaman. Keeps it full again and on the stumps. Zaman drives it cleanly to mid off and crosses over for a quick single.
Aizaz Khan to Fakhar Zaman. A bit fuller in length on middle, Zaman flicks it but straight to square leg.
Aizaz Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Strays on his pads again but this time Imam flicks it towards mid-wicket for a single.
Aizaz Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Drags the length a bit shorter and attacking the batsman's body. Imam swivel and short arm pulls it to square leg. No chance of a run there.
Aizaz Khan to Imam-ul-Haq. Starts off with a good length ball around off with a slight inward shape on it. Imam waits in his crease and defends off the front foot.
The players and the umpires are making their way out to the middle after a satisfying dinner. The Pakistani opening duo of Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq will resume their innings with the latter taking strike. Aizaz Khan to start the proceedings for Hong Kong.
Nearly 30 percent of the target has been ticked off. The ball is not doing much and even if it is, the Hong Kong bowlers simply do not have the pace to trouble their opposition. As Mickey Arthur mentioned during the innings break, Pakistan would wish for a solid victory tonight. A 10-wicket one would be ideal. At the same time, Hong Kong might look to try and take a wicket or two and stall the proceedings a bit. Join us back at 1945 local (1545 GMT).
A cautious period of play for Pakistan. They preferred to keep calm than go bang-bang in this small passage. However, towards the end of that 'session', Zaman seemed to lose patience.
Tanwir Afzal to Fakhar Zaman. Aahhh... comes down the track again and powers another straight drive, but this hits the stumps at the other end! DINNER BREAK!
Tanwir Afzal to Fakhar Zaman. FOUR! No mercy. Save yourself. A length ball, on middle, Zaman comes down the track and hammers it straight back.
