Bangladesh vs Afghanistan Highlights And Cricket Score Super Four - 4 Match - ODI Commentary

End of Over : 50.0 BAN: 249/7

Now, the Afghans have a big task ahead of them. A positive start will be key in the chase, as they have quality bowlers to tighten the noose in the middle overs on a relatively slower deck. You don't want to miss it. Join us on the other side of the break.

The Afghanistan bowlers will be disappointed with the fact that they couldn't capitalize on the advantageous position they were in at one stage. They will rue the fact that they didn't finish things off and let Bangladesh run away like they did. Aftab Alam led the charge with 3 wickets while Mujeeb and Rashid picked 1 apiece. Though, it can be argued that Mahmudullah and Kayes did play them well, especially Rashid, taking no major risks against him.

A splendid turnaround from Bangladesh. From being 87/5 they have managed to almost touch the 250-mark and it's all thanks to the century stand between Mahmudullah and Kayes. Electing to bat, the Tigers lost a couple of early wickets but found their way back when Das and Rahim put up 63 between them. Though, some brainfade moments in the middle which resulted in a couple of run outs put Afghanistan back on top. The game seemed to slip away but the marathon Mahmudullah-Kayes stand of 128 turned the tide in their favour again and put Bangladesh in a competitive position at the end of the innings.

49.6 4

Gulbadin Naib to Imrul Kayes. FOUR! What a way to finish the innings. Superb shot from Imrul Kayes. He leans into the full ball outside off and drives it ever so well through the covers for a boundary. BANGLADESH FINISH ON 249/7!

49.5 1

Gulbadin Naib to Mehidy Hasan. That's poor from Shahzad, concedes a run unnecessarily. Naib bowls a length ball down leg and Mehidy looks to work it away by moving a bit across. Misses and so does the keeper and the batsmen steal a bye.

Mehidy Hasan comes in next.

48.5 W

Aftab Alam to Mashrafe Mortaza. OUT! A bit of a comical dismissal. Trying to be too smart there Mortaza and perishes in the effort. He goes down looking to scoop it over the keeper's head, moves much before the ball has left the bowler's arm, Alam does well to float in a slower ball, the right-hander has to wait a bit longer and then tries to scoop it, gets a top edge and the ball goes up towards Shahzad who does not have to move a step to take it safely.

48.4 1

Aftab Alam to Imrul Kayes. Kayes goes for the big hit but mistimes this as the ball lobs towards the mid on region and the batsmen cross to add a run.

47.6 1

Rashid Khan to Mashrafe Mortaza. The Bangladesh captain will feel that he has missed an opportunity to add 6 runs to the total. Mashrafe Mortaza, the Bangladesh skipper, walks in the middle.

46.2 W

Aftab Alam to Mahmudullah. OUT! The massive partnership of 128 is broken at last. What a valiant effort from Mahmudullah. Came in at a time when his team was in dire trouble, has bailed them out superbly well. Alam goes completely opposite with his line, length and speed. He lands this very short and way wide of off. He seems to have rolled his fingers over it and the leg cutter reaches Mahmudullah on its way down. The batsman tries to hit it hard over the deep cover fence. Gets good connection but not enough distance, as he could not hit it with the desired power because of the slower pace. Rashid Khan at sweeper cover doesn't move a single step as he takes it easily. Big wicket for Afghanistan, could make a difference of around 15-20 runs to the final total.

Powerplay 3 has been signaled. A maximum of 5 fielders will be allowed outside the ring till the end of the innings. Also, Mujeeb is going off the field. Doesn't seem too comfortable, must have picked up some kind of niggle. And, Aftab Alam comes back into the attack.

Drinks are on the field. Bangladesh have recovered well after that middle-overs mishap. From 81/2 they were reeling at 87/5, all down to some horrible communication in the middle, resulting in needless run outs. But since then, Kayes and Mahmudullah have taken things under control with a 50-partnership and even taken the attack to the opposition bowlers on occasion. 25.5 0

Gulbadin Naib to Imrul Kayes. Could have been another run out. The Tigers look nervy out in the middle. Kayes works this on the leg side and initially calls for the run. Though this time, he sends his partner back in time. No harm done.

20.5 W

Rashid Khan to Imrul Kayes. OUT! Rahim is out of here! This is a big, big wicket for the Afghans. Kayes works this in front of square leg and calls for the run. Mushfiqur is halfway down the track and at this point, Imrul sends his back. Nabi gets to the ball and throws it to Rashid. The bowler collects, runs back and takes the bails off. Rahim is well out of the crease, but the issue remains whether he took the bails off with his leg first. Replays roll in as the umpire refers it upstairs and they show that all is fine. No problem with the run out. Rahim makes the long walk back with his head dropped down.

Well what's happening here? Total mayhem. Rahim has been run out, but has Rashid fallen on the stumps before taking the bails off? Only thing that could save him there. Let's see now...

20.4 0

Rashid Khan to Imrul Kayes. Hangs back to this one and keeps it out with the full face of the bat.

20.3 4

Rashid Khan to Imrul Kayes. FOUR! Just uses the pace and a misfield from the man at short fine leg helps his cause. Turning in on the pads, Kayes works it fine down the leg side. Imrul Kayes is the new man in.

End of Over : 19 5 Runs BAN: 81/4
18.6 W

Rashid Khan to Shakib Al Hasan. OUT! THIS IS SUICIDE! Shakib Al Hasan had come at No 5, instead of walking out at the fall of the first wicket, as he wanted to play Rashid Khan himself and negate his threat. But his plan has failed miserably as he is run out on just his second ball. Bangladesh now in deep deep trouble. Not good cricket there by the experienced all-rounder. Going back to the ball, it is a googly on his pads, the southpaw flicks it to mid-wicket and just takes off. Mushfiqur sees no run there and asks Shakib to go back. Shakib slips as he looks to turn and get back. Shenwari, the fielder there, picks it up and fires in a one bounce throw at the striker's end which hits the target bang-on and they start the wild celebrations. They have got the big fish.

18.5 0

Rashid Khan to Shakib Al Hasan. The batsman defends it from within the crease.

Shakib Al Hasan is the new batsman in for Bangladesh. He usually comes in at number 3 for his side, but this time has come down the order so that he can deal with Afghanistan's biggest weapon, Rashid Khan.

18.4 W

Rashid Khan to Liton Das. OUT! Some classic cricket on the previous delivery and some irresponsible cricket on the next. This is full and on the off stump, ripping away late, it has an inward drift. He goes down looking to sweep, a risky shot against this bowler because of his pace. Gets a top edge on it and Insanullah in the slip region settles under it and takes it with a couple of steps to his right. That is a very sad ending to a promising innings.

18.3 4

Rashid Khan to Liton Das. FOUR! Class! That is so elegant and classic from Das. Rashid tosses this one up and keeps it on off. Das, ever so gently, plays a lofted extra cover drive. The timing is exquisite and placement is even better as the ball races through for a boundary. That's how you play Rashid Khan.

18.2 1

Rashid Khan to Mushfiqur Rahim. A bit shorter this from Rashid and this allows Rahim to rock back and punch it into the gap at cover-point and goes to the other end.

18.1 0

17.1 1

Mohammad Nabi to Liton Das. Tossed up on off, flicked into the mid-wicket region for a single.

Drinks. Afghanistan did well to get two early wickets and force the Bangladesh batsmen on the back foot. But the pair of Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim have steadied their ship. They will want to continue further and go deeper into their innings. Afghanistan will look to break this stand as early as possible.

End of Over : 17 11 Runs BAN: 72/2
16.6 0

Aftab Alam to Mushfiqur Rahim. A bit shorter this on off, cut to point.

16.5 6

Aftab Alam to Mushfiqur Rahim. SIX! A maximum this time. Alam again bangs it in short and gets the ball rising onto Rahim, Rahim stays back and goes for the pull shot and gets a top edge. The ball flies down towards fine leg and the pace on it has taken the ball sailing over the ropes to bring up the first biggie of the innings. The 50 stand also comes up.

16.4 4

Aftab Alam to Mushfiqur Rahim. FOUR! Rahim gives the charge, sees the ball banged in short but still goes for the pull. The front foot forehand swat goes through the mid-wicket region racing through and across the ropes in a flash. Rahim has had enough of it, it seems.

14.2 0

Gulbadin Naib to Mushfiqur Rahim. Good ball by Naib as he keeps this in the corridor of uncertainty, Rahim defends off the front foot.

14.1 0

Gulbadin Naib to Mushfiqur Rahim. Rahim has missed out on a scoring opportunity. Naib lands this short and wide of off, it's there to be cut and Rahim does exactly that, but again he has found the fielder at point.

12.3 0

Gulbadin Naib to Liton Das. Just ahead of a length, around off, kept out off the front foot.

12.2 4

Gulbadin Naib to Liton Das. FOUR! Wonderful aggression from Liton Das. Stays positive and gives the charge to this length ball. Lifts it cleanly over mid off and the ball seemingly hits the rope. The umpire isn't sure, it looks like a maximum to the naked eye, but it's taken upstairs. Replays show that it bounced just before crashing into it. So a boundary is signalled.

Gulbadin Naib to Liton Das. Good length ball close to off, blocked from within the crease.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman to Liton Das. Starts with one which drifts into the batsman, Das flicks it into the square leg region and gets a single.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman to bowl from the other end with the second new ball.

End of Over : 1 4 Runs BAN: 4/0
0.6 2

Aftab Alam to Nazmul Hossain Shanto. Nicely done. On the pads again, tucked behind square on the leg side and the batsmen rush to come back for the second. Good running.

0.5 0

Aftab Alam to Nazmul Hossain Shanto. A bit of a muted appeal but it's turned down, rightly so too, that pitched outside leg. Length ball which raps the southpaw high on the pads. He looks to flick but misses.

0.4 0

Aftab Alam to Nazmul Hossain Shanto. Moving away from the batsman from around off, a hint of extra bounce on that occasion. Shanto plays it off the outer half square on the off side.

0.3 0

Aftab Alam to Nazmul Hossain Shanto. Length delivery on middle and leg, defended solidly to the left of the bowler.

0.2 0

Aftab Alam to Nazmul Hossain Shanto. Shaping back in on middle and leg, on a good length, Shanto works it down gently in front of mid-wicket.

0.1 1

Aftab Alam to Liton Das. First runs of the afternoon. Liton Das reaches out to this length delivery outside off and runs it down to third man for a single.

0.1 wd

Aftab Alam to Liton Das. Wide! False start for Aftab. Hurls it way wide outside off, Das doesn't have anything to do with that. It's across the tramline and that's a wide.

We are done and dusted with the national anthems of both teams and ready to begin proceedings. Out come the Bangladesh openers, Liton Das and Nazmul Hossain Shanto, walk out to the middle. Afghanistan spread out across the field after a last-minute pep talk from their skipper. It's a hot day, and Aftab Alam will be taking the new ball first up. He has a slip in place. Here we go...

Afghanistan captain, Asghar Afghan says they also wanted to bat first. Informs that they have made one change as Samiullah Shenwari comes in place of Najibullah Zadran. Adds further that their team has rested and recovered well yesterday to get over the fatigue after playing back-to-back matches. Admits that their last match was tough and hence a bit tiring. Feels that today's game is also important and it was essential for them to get back to full fitness and give their best performance. Ends by saying that, now a days, Afghanistan team does not hope of just playing cricket but now they want to win matches as well.

Bangladesh captain, Mashrafe Mortaza says they have made two changes, an extra spinner (Nazmul Islam making his debut) and Imrul Kayes come in. Adds further that in order to tackle the world class Afghan spinners their batters will have to play with confidence and back their technique. States that they will look to get a good start first and then will want to carry on from there. Reckons that it is important to drink lots of fluids and keep oneself hydrated in such hot conditions. Ends by saying that their team has recovered well in the rest they got yesterday and now is eager to give it its best shot.

TOSS - The coin is flipped, Mortaza calls it right and Bangladesh elect to bat.

Hola, everyone, and welcome to the coverage of Match No. 4 of the Super Four stage between the passionate Bangladesh and the ever energetic Afghanistan. Having lost their first match of this stage against the tournament favorites, both teams will be keen on getting a win under their belt and keep their hopes of reaching the final alive. Also, even though they lost their last match, Afghanistan have a balanced side. However, Bangladesh's batting woes will haunt them as they will be missing their star opener, Tamim Iqbal and their batting in general seems to be struggling in the tournament. With the intensity and exuberance with which these two teams play, we definitely have an exciting contest on our hands. Also, another factor to watch out for is how the Tigers handle the world class Afghan spinners. Let's see who roars louder and manages to go one step ahead.

End of Over : 50.0 AFG: 246/7

Bangladesh win and keep themselves in the hunt. A good showing with the ball in the death, along with some fine batting from the middle order puts them in a virtual semi-final when they face Pakistan in a few days. Also, another Afghanistan game, another thrilling contest. It's been a roller coaster ride for them in this tournament, but there's still one more game to go. This team has taken great strides forward in its progress, so they'd like to cap it off with a win. They face India on Tuesday in Dubai at 1530 local (1130 GMT). Do join in for it. Till then, cheers!

Man of the Match, Mahmudullah says that the weather was hot and he was feeling a bit tired while he was batting. Adds further that they did well at the end to keep their nerves and eventually win it. Credits Mustafizur for how he finished the last over even after his cramps and calf strain. Reckons that Afghanistan have some good hitters but feels his bowlers did a really good job to win it for them today. States that he always feels happy to contribute for his team. Admits that Imrul Kayes and himself had a good partnership in the first innings when Bangladesh were in a spot of bother. Ends by saying that they will need to bring their A game out on the 26th if they are to have any chance of beating Pakistan as they are playing some good cricket.

Mashrafe Mortaza, the Bangladesh captain says, end of the match must was like a magician. We could no9t score 8-9 runs, but this time we defended. Shakib bowled really well in the death, Must focus was to look for wicket and stop run flow. Mahmudullah and Kayes played really well on this slow and sticky pitch not the best for batting, they played well to get that total. Must was running a bit slow and bowled cutter as he was not able to bowl the yorkers because of his calf strain,. This win will instill confidence and we hope to take it ahead in the tournament.

Afghanistan captain, Asghar Afghan thanks the almighty first. He then congratulates the Bangladesh team and states that they played well. Admits that to make 8 runs off the last 6 balls was not difficult. Feels that Gulbadin Naib was their main batsman who could have taken them across the line in the last over but sadly he failed to do so. Also feels that Mustafizur Rahman is a very good bowler with lots of variations and he bowled really well in the death overs. Mentions that during the middle overs they were progressing well and on course while executing their plans. Adds further that they had enough wickets at the end and that was the initial plan. Reckons that if their batsmen had taken singles and doubles instead of looking for the big shots in the final over, they would have got over the line. Also says that chasing a total of 250 is not very difficult on this ground and feels they should have got the job done. Ends by saying that they have learnt a lot by playing against full member teams.

Bangladesh were good with the ball for the most part. Started well, were frugal but just lost it a bit towards the end when Nabi decided to take the attack to them, but a phenomenal last over from Mustafizur ensured they got maximum points from this game. Mortaza was good in his second spell when he came back on, the rest were decent, but Mustafizur was sensational. A lot of the credit for the win goes to him. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh got close to 250 on the back of a century stand between Mahmudullah and Kayes, with both of them scoring a fifty each. It eventually proved enough for their opposition.

Chasing a target of 250, Afghanistan didn't get off to the best of starts losing two early wickets. Post that, the Bangla bowlers kept applying the pressure and kept the run flow very much in check. There were two good partnerships in the middle, one between Shahzad and Shahidi and the next between Shahidi and Asghar, but the former went at a slow rate and that hampered things quite a lot. Still, despite that, some big hitting towards the end from Nabi saw his team come close, but it wasn't to be.

Death bowling at its best. The left-armer Rahman shows once again why he's one of the best in the business. Afghanistan came close, but just couldn't get themselves over the line. For the neutral, it made for some excellent viewing. One to remember for a good while.

49.6 0

Mustafizur Rahman to Samiullah Shenwari. And that's it! BANGLADESH WIN BY 3 RUNS! What an over from Mustafizur Rahman. Still so young but has so much experience already and he's shown that here tonight. Superb stuff. He angles it across the batsman on a back of a length, Shenwari goes for the big pull. Misses the ball and the bat slips out of his hands as well.

49.5 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Gulbadin Naib. Another leg bye. 4 needed to win now for Afghanistan. If the heat in Abu Dhabi wasn't enough, this game just brought a whole lot more with it. The left-armer lands a length ball on the stumps, Naib moves across his sticks to scoop it over the keeper's head but it goes off his pads towards short fine leg and the batsmen cross over.

49.4 0

Mustafizur Rahman to Gulbadin Naib. Beaten! Length delivery hurled across, Naib swings and misses.

49.3 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Samiullah Shenwari. Everyone is appealing for a catch but the umpire signals a leg bye. Interesting. Length ball around leg, the cutter, Shenwari looks to clear short fine leg but apparently misses and the ball lobs towards the same position. Mortaza takes the catch and all appeal, but in vain. A leg bye is taken.

Gulbadin Naib will be the new man in.

49.2 W

Mustafizur Rahman to Rashid Khan. OUT! Rashid doesn't last very long! Mustafizur cramps Khan for room seeing him back away. Bangs it short and the batsman looks to swing across the line. Gets it off the top half and it pops back to the bowler who gobbles it up. Still 6 in 4. Still some batting left for Afghanistan. The game, still very much in the balance.

49.1 2

Mustafizur Rahman to Rashid Khan. Superbly placed. Length delivery around off, Khan backs away and slaps it past the diving extra cover fielder. That instantly means an extra run and the batsmen take two as the sweeper mops it up.

End of Over : 49 11 Runs AFG: 242/6
48.6 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Rashid Khan. High full toss on the stumps and Rashid misses out. He slaps it over covers and the batsmen just take the one. Khan wanted the second but his partner refused. 8 off the final over to win for Afghanistan.

48.5 2

Shakib Al Hasan to Rashid Khan. Played to the point region by the batsman. Two runs added to the total.

48.4 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Samiullah Shenwari. Fuller around leg, Shenwari swings and it goes off the back of the bat past the keeper down the leg side. A single is collected.

Rashid Khan in next.

48.3 W

Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Nabi. OUT! Gone next ball! What's going to happen here? Nobody can tell. Can go either way. Nabi takes it on the full and looks to clear wide long off. Doesn't get enough elevation on it and it flies towards Shanto there. He moves to his left and takes a good diving catch. Nabi departs, but he's brought his team in a good position.

48.2 6

Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Nabi. SIX! Take a bow, Mohammad Nabi. Doing it for his team and taking it home. Beautiful. Shakib floats it up and Nabi gives the charge. Connects sweetly and sends it sailing deep into the long off stands for a biggie.

48.1 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Samiullah Shenwari. Good running. Samiullah works it down in front of mid-wicket and within no time calls for the run. Both batsmen take off and complete the run.

Shakib Al Hasan will bowl the penultimate over.

End of Over : 48 12 Runs AFG: 231/5
47.6 4

Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi. FOUR! Fine placement from Nabi. Poor line from the Fizz, spills a length delivery on the pads, Nabi works it nicely past short fine leg for a boundary. 19 off 12 now.

47.5 2

Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi. Flicked away on the leg side for a couple of runs.

47.4 0

Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi. Another appeal, but shut down for the same reason as the previous delivery. It pitched outside leg. It lands and raps Shenwari on the pads. Correct call by the umpire.

47.3 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Samiullah Shenwari. Not out! Shenwari survives. Mustafizur bowls the cutter on a fullish length and it raps Samiullah on the pads who for some strange reason gets low to sweep it away. Big appeal and the umpire doesn't bother with it as the batsmen cross over. Bangladesh contemplate and eventually take the DRS. Replays show that the ball pitched outside the line of leg stump. Also, there was a slight glove on it. So a run taken as well.

Review taken. It's for an lbw decision against Samiullah Shenwari. The ball seemingly has pitched outside leg. Over to the TV umpire now.

47.2 4

Mustafizur Rahman to Samiullah Shenwari. FOUR! Oh that's poor positioning. Should have been right at the rope. He was too far in and hence missed the catch. Behind and that's an easy catch. Shenwari pulls this short ball on off and sends it flying towards deep mid-wicket. Shanto is the man there and he leaps ahead, only to miss it. It goes over him and falls just inside the rope before going across.

47.1 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi. Full delivery at the base of off stump, Nabi slogs it from the inner half through the mid-wicket area for a run.

End of Over : 47 11 Runs AFG: 219/5

46.4 2

Mashrafe Mortaza to Mohammad Nabi. High full toss on middle and leg, Nabi works it in the big gap in the mid-wicket region and takes the first one fast. Rushes back and completes the second. No problem.

46.3 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Samiullah Shenwari. Angling in on middle and leg, Shenwari closes the face early and gets a safe leading edge towards covers for a single.

46.2 6

Mashrafe Mortaza to Samiullah Shenwari. SIX! Mighty blow from Samiullah Shenwari! That's a big hit. Back of a length around off, Shenwari swings his bat with all his might. Connects beautifully well and clears the wide long on boundary with absolute ease. Afghanistan need more, a lot more of these.

46.1 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Mohammad Nabi. Length delivery outside off, Nabi swings and gets an inside edge past the leg stump, towards square leg for a single.

Mashrafe Mortaza to bowl out. Can he make one final breakthrough before he's done for the night?

End of Over : 46 9 Runs AFG: 208/5
45.6 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi. Moving away from the right-hander, it's cut down to third man for a run. 9 off the over. 42 needed off 24 now.

45.5 4

Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi. FOUR! That'll be a boundary! It was wide and short and Nabi just had to go for it. He flayed it over point and sent it across the boundary line. Super shot.

45.4 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Samiullah Shenwari. Shenwari makes good connection on that but is unfortunate to find the fielder. Moves inside the line and swipes it across the line to deep square leg for one.

45.3 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi. Length delivery going across, outside off, Nabi walks down the track and mistimes the loft towards long off for a single.

45.2 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Samiullah Shenwari. Aims the top of the off stick with a length ball, Shenwari wrists this away in front of square leg and crosses over.

Mustafizur is down with a bit of a cramp in his hamstring. Nothing too serious though, from the looks of things he should be fine to continue.

45.1 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi. Fuller length delivery angling across, Nabi throws his bat at this and finds point. Still takes off and completes the run without any trouble.

Mustafizur Rahman returns to the attack.

End of Over : 45 6 Runs AFG: 199/5
44.6 2

Shakib Al Hasan to Samiullah Shenwari. Coming in with the arm again. Shenwari goes for a slog across the line but gets it off the inner half through backward square leg. A couple taken. 6 from the over, that's really good for Bangladesh. 51 needed from 30 balls.

44.5 0

Shakib Al Hasan to Samiullah Shenwari. Shenwari leans ahead and plays it with the angle to mid-wicket.

44.4 0

Shakib Al Hasan to Samiullah Shenwari. Ball hits the batsman low on the pads.

44.3 0

Shakib Al Hasan to Samiullah Shenwari. Not Out! Well, I was completely wrong there. Brilliant use of the DRS from Afghanistan. Coming in with the arm and straightening ever so slightly. Shenwari goes for the reverse sweep but misses to get hit on the front pad. Up go the Bangladesh players in unison and the umpire obliges. Samiullah walks across to his partner and after some discussion, signals for the 'T.' Time for replays. There is nothing on Snicko. Now, here is the surprise. Hawk Eye rolls in and shows that the ball is going down the leg side. It didn't straighten and kept on going down with the angle. Shenwari will fight on.

Seems like Afghanistan have lost another one. Shenwari has been trapped in front of the stumps but after having a chat with his partner, he opts for the review. Looks dead to the naked eye.

44.2 2

Shakib Al Hasan to Samiullah Shenwari. Coming in with the arm, Shenwari pushes at it but gets it off the inner half through square leg and sets off. While coming back for the second, he runs across and almost bumps into his partner but just avoids it. The second run is completed safely.

44.1 2

Shakib Al Hasan to Samiullah Shenwari. Good running! Tossed up in line of the stumps, Shenwari makes room and drills it past the extra cover fielder. A couple taken.

End of Over : 44 2 Runs AFG: 193/5
43.6 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Samiullah Shenwari. Good length ball on middle and leg, worked away wide of mid on for a run. A wicket and 2 from the over. Game on!

43.5 0

43.4 0

Mashrafe Mortaza to Samiullah Shenwari. Back of a length ball, punched out off the back foot.

Samiullah Shenwari is the new man in.

43.3 W

Mashrafe Mortaza to Hashmatullah Shahidi. OUT! Bowled 'em! Just what the doctor ordered for Bangladesh. Mortaza was a bit off color in his first spell but he has come roaring back to pick up his second wicket. He delivers an off cutter around off. Shahidi shuffles across, crouches and tries to scoop it over short fine leg but has no pace to work with. Gets beaten as the ball kisses his back pad and deflects onto the stumps. This is Mortaza's 250th ODI wicket. Afghanistan need 58 from 39 balls.

43.2 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Mohammad Nabi. The batsman has flicked the ball off his pads. One run added to the total.

End of Over : 43 10 Runs AFG: 191/4
42.6 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Nabi. This is sensible cricket from these two! Places this against the spin towards mid on for a run. 10 from the over. 59 needed from 42 balls.

42.5 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Hashmatullah Shahidi. Shakib bowls this one slower in pace outside off, Shahidi has enough time to kneel and reverse sweep it through point for a single.

42.4 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Nabi. Shorter in length, Nabi goes for a flashy cut but gets it off the outer half past short third man who chases it and keeps the batsmen down to a single.

42.2 6

Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Nabi. SIX! Straight as an arrow and clean as a whistle! Slower through the air in line of the stumps, Nabi has his dancing shoes on and tonks it down the ground for a flat maximum. We all know about his big-hitting ability.

42.1 1

Shakib Al Hasan to Hashmatullah Shahidi. Tossed up delivery, knocked down to long off for a run.

Shakib Al Hasan comes back for a bowl.

End of Over : 42 5 Runs AFG: 181/4
41.6 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Hashmatullah Shahidi. Length ball outside off, Shahidi plays it with soft hands behind square on the off side, takes a run and will retain the strike. Brilliant over from Mortaza, only 5 from it. Afghanistan need 69 runs from 48 balls.

41.5 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Mohammad Nabi. Very full ball outside off, Mohammad drills it away to sweeper cover for a single.

End of Over : 41 7 Runs AFG: 176/4
40.6 1

Nazmul Islam to Mohammad Nabi. Another one in line of the stumps, Nabi whips it through the leg side for a run. Afghanistan need 74 from 54 balls. Very much doable with 6 wickets in hand.

40.5 1

Nazmul Islam to Hashmatullah Shahidi. Full and quick on off, clipped away through mid-wicket for a run.

40.4 4

Nazmul Islam to Hashmatullah Shahidi. FOUR! Too easy for Shahidi! This is what Afghanistan need to do, hit a boundary in every over and keep rotating the strike. A half-tracker on middle, Shahidi pulls it away past the left side of the backward square leg fielder to find the fence.

40.3 1

Nazmul Islam to Mohammad Nabi. Pitches on middle and holds up a bit. Nabi hangs back and tucks it through wide mid on to rotate strike.

40.2 0

Nazmul Islam to Mohammad Nabi. Islam gives this one a bit more air, encouraging Nabi to come down the track. He does use his feet but is not quite to the pitch of the ball. Pushes it towards extra cover in the end.

39.5 1

Mashrafe Mortaza to Hashmatullah Shahidi. Back to around the wicket to the left-hander, it's coming back in on leg, Shahidi works it off his pads down on the leg side and gets to the other end.

Mohammad Nabi is the next man in to bat. 83 needed in 62 to win. The game still very much in the balance if this man has something to say about it.

39.4 W

Mashrafe Mortaza to Asghar Afghan. OUT! The Bangladesh skipper strikes! He was struggling in his first spell, but has come back now and got the big wicket of the Afghanistan captain. 38.3 wd

Nazmul Islam to Hashmatullah Shahidi. Wide! It's fired down the leg side, wide called by the umpire.

Shahidi is down on the ground with the helmet off. Not sure what the issue is. Is it the hamstring? His back? The physio is out. And both batsmen and the fielders use this chance to get some fluids in. It is really hot out there after all.

38.2 1

Nazmul Islam to Asghar Afghan. Risky stuff from the Afghan pair. Asghar pats it down in front of mid-wicket and both batsmen take off. The fielder charges to the ball but doesn't collect it cleanly as he looks to under arm it. The run is completed with ease but Shahidi seems to have hurt himself.

35.3 1

Mustafizur Rahman to Hashmatullah Shahidi. 5th ODI fifty for Hashmatullah Shahidi! Solid knock so far. His 2nd fifty of the tournament, both have come against Bangladesh only. Gets to the milestone by pushing it through the covers for a single. Has to stay there till the end now. He's the set batsman for his side.

35.2 0

35.1 0

Mustafizur Rahman to Hashmatullah Shahidi. Bangs in a bouncer and takes the batsman by surprise, Hashmatullah ducks and evades.

Drinks. Bangladesh will be satisfied with the last hour of play. They lost just the one wicket of their attacking opener, Shahzad but the current pair of Shahidi and his captain have some what steadied their ship. They will now look to take the match deeper and have wickets in hand to launch an attack at the end, if required. Nazmul Islam to Mohammad Shahzad. OUT! Shah is run out! Much like in the first innings, there's a serious miscommunication from Afghanistan now. But take a bow, Shakib. How good are you? What a throw. Shahzad cuts it towards point and takes off initially. Shah responds and when he's halfway down, Shahzad tells him to go back as Shakib is quick to the ball. He collects and scores a direct hit at the bowler's end. Rahmat tries to get in but he looks short. It's taken upstairs and replays confirm he is. Another wicket for the Tigers and they're on top here.

Direct hit! Looks to be gone. Rahmat Shah is in trouble here from the looks of it. Let's see now...
