Rahmat Shah and Asghar Afghan steadied the ship and put together a 120-run stand. In the process, Rahmat became the first Afghanistan player to get to the triple figure mark in Test cricket. He though could not continue his good work and departed straightaway after reaching the milestone. Nabi followed him without troubling the scorers. It looked like Afghanistan would collapse but a brilliant 81-run stand put the visitors back on top.

A brilliant quickfire fifty from the Afghanistan skipper has taken his side over 340. A total that is a not just competitive but also very good on this wicket.

PITCH REPORT - Tino Mawoyo is down with the pitch report. Mawoyo starts by saying that the pitch is a good one to bat on. Mawoyo reckons that though the Bangladesh spinners bowled well, he credits the Afghanistan players for unsettling them by using their feet. On the weather, Tino says it was dark yesterday but today it is starting to brighten up. Mawoyo feels if Afghanistan can score 400 then they would put themselves in command.

Hello and welcome to the coverage of Day 2 of this one-off Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. After a historic Day 1 for Afghanistan, the hosts would look to put on a better show today. The ploy to not play any genuine pacer seems to have backfired for Bangladesh as on the first day of this Test they looked one dimensional at times. Afghanistan, on the other hand, will hope that the experienced Asghar Afghan can continue his good work along with Afsar Zazai and build on their stand. Another record is on the cards for the visitors as their former skipper who is unbeaten on 88 is inching closer to becoming their second player to score a ton. Will Afghanistan continue to prove why they belong with the big boys or will the sun shine brighter on the Bangla shores?

The Bangladesh side filled their XI with only spinners but the wicket did not play on Day 1 as they thought it would have. There was not a lot of turn and bounce. It was hard work for their bowlers. Islam was the pick though as he took a 2-fer. Nayeem Hasan was also good. Mehidy and Shakib though were a touch disappointing.

Rahmat raked up the first ever Test ton for Afghanistan while Afghan got to his half century and he is still unbeaten. Just as it seemed that Bangladesh were looking to crawl back into the game through 2 quick wickets, Afghan, along with Afsar Zazai have added 74 unbeaten runs and have made sure the visitors head into Day 2 on top.

Afghanistan's start though was not up to the mark as the openers, after a fighting first hour of the first session, went back to the pavilion in quick time. Shahidi too did not stay out for long. Rahmat Shah though combined with Asghar Afghan to add 120 runs and take the visitors to a commanding position. The two played with a lot of determination and were also not bogged down as they played attacking shots on timely occasions too.

We are back for the second session! Rahmat Shah and the new batsman, Asghar Afghan make their way out to the middle. Bangladesh players also are out in the middle. Mahmudullah will continue his over.

So after a fast first session what is in store for us in the second? Will Bangladesh continue to spin the web or will Afghanistan find a way to fight it out? Join us after the break to find out.

Afghanistan have done better than the last time they played a Test in the subcontinent. But the lack of experience has been quite evident. They started off cautiously but have been unable to build on the budding stands. Rahmat Shah has shown technique and composure but he needs someone to hang around with him if Afghanistan are to reach a decent total.

LUNCH! Bangladesh will be the side heading into the break with their heads held high. They have done brilliantly to peg the visitors back. In a side where all the front line bowlers are spinners, without any surprise all wickets have fallen to the spinners. Taijul Islam has been the pick of the bowlers in the morning session, picking up two wickets and in the process becoming the second highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in Tests. Mahmudullah was the other bowler to get into the wickets column.

Mahmudullah to Hashmatullah Shahidi. OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! The bowling change works wonders. Mahmudullah, out of all the spinners Bangladesh have, is the one to get the breakthrough. A sharp catch there by the slip fielder. Not easy when it goes that quickly. Mahmudullah bowls this flatter and shorter outside off. Shahidi looks to play it late but the ball skids through, flies off the outside edge and Sarkar at first slip takes it nicely. The Bangladesh players are ecstatic. Shahidi walks back without making an impact. The other players follow him too as IT IS LUNCH ON DAY 1!

The bowlers have not offered freely but there isn't much assistance for them. Interesting to see how the duo of Zadran and Rahmat tackle the spinners after this first hour.

Bangladesh and Afghanistan, the two spin-heavy sides collide against each other at Chittagong in One-off Test before they get into the white ball mode for the tri-series involving Zimbabwe. Bangladesh's last Test encounter was against the Kiwis in New Zealand before the World Cup which they lost. However, at home, Bangladesh are a powerful Test team and Afghanistan, playing only the third Test will be vary of that. Shakib Al Hasan is back to lead the Test side. He had a terrific World Cup on a personal note and would look to continue doing the same for his side in the longest format of the game. The Afghans raked up a win against Ireland in their second Test and would like to repeat the same against the hosts to take their rivalry to another level. They will look at their skipper Rashid Khan for all the inspiration along with their batters like Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi to tackle the Bangladeshi spin threat. Notably, this game is not a part of ICC World Test Championship but Bangladesh who are part of the tournament will look to have a positive start before getting into the grove of the 2-year long tournament. Liton Das, Mominul Haque and Mosaddek Hossain. Only this trio put on some fight and if not for them Bangladesh might have found themselves following on in this Test. There was little to no resistance from the Bangladeshi batsmen. Taijul did offer to some support to Mosaddek but was dismissed in the very first over of the day.

Brilliant bowling display from the visitors. Everyone who bowled did really well and it has been a collective effort from this young Test playing nation. The skipper, Rashid Khan led from the front getting a 5-wicket haul to his name. He was well supported by the other bowlers. Apart from Zahir Khan everyone else had a wicket to their name with Nabi getting a 3-fer in his last Test.

He says that it is a different weather than the previous day as there are lot of dark clouds and also informs us that it rained a bit overnight. On the surface, he says there has been a lot of rough on the pitch which has been created by Ahmadzai. Tells with Bangladesh needing to chase in this game on this pitch it will be a tough task.

The hosts had a terrible day with the bat yesterday and at one stage it looked like they would struggle to even get to 200 but the duo of Mosaddek and Taijul have taken them to a total of some parity. Their job is not done and they would look to continue the fight and reduce the deficit even further. Afghanistan were excellent with the ball yesterday but this batting pair has annoyed them. When the hosts came out to bat, they were caught in a defensive web. No strokes were being played and the Afghan spinners were allowed to be on top. Liton Das and Mominul Haque tried to show some fight but eventually were consumed by the pitch. Mosaddek has definitely shown some grit and has got some support from Taijul. The deficit is under 150 but the last 2 wickets would need to add at least 100 to get their side into some sort of contention.

Starting the day at 271/5, Afghanistan lost Asghar Afghan and Afsar Zazai pretty early and at that stage, Bangladesh would have harboured hopes of a collapse but a Rashid Khan blinder delayed proceedings. With 342 on the board, it looked a bridge too far for the home side and the batting showed.

Day 1 was about Afghanistan fighting hard. Day 2 has seen them nearly crush Bangladesh under immense pressure. Getting close to 350, then reducing the hosts 8 down before 150 - well, it has been their day.

Afghanistan bowlers were right on the money. They continued from where they left off in the 1st Session and did not allow the hosts to get away with things easily. Just when Liton Das started to break free, the Afghanistan bowlers pegged Bangladesh back by first breaking the slow stand of Sarkar and Das. Then the introduction of skipper, Rashid Khan continued Afghanistan's dominance as he got rid of Das who was starting to look dangerous. The Afghanistan skipper added the experienced and dangerous duo of Shakib and Mushfiqur to his name ending the session with 3 wickets to his name.

TEA! Wonderful session for Afghanistan! They have picked up five wickets for 88 runs which is a huge advantage on this wicket. The hosts are in huge trouble here with their premier batsmen, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim back in the hut. After the early loss of Shadman Islam, Soumya Sarkar and Liton Das played cautiously before the gates opened with the fall of Sarkar's wicket. Liton, Shakib and Rahim followed soon after to leave the hosts reeling.

The umpires have gone upstairs for a catch. The SOFT SIGNAL IS OUT. Mushfiqur Rahim is the man in question. If this is out then Bangladesh are in deep, deep trouble. A very tough call this as the dust which popped out is making it very difficult to come to a conclusive decision. Seems like the soft signal will play a decisive role here.

It has been Afghanistan that have been on top in majority of the play so far. Can they continue to be on top or will Bangladesh find a way to fight back in this batting friendly track? Join us after the break to find out.

The hosts started the day brightly as they picked up quick wickets of the well-set Asghar Afgan and Afsar Zazai early on in the session but Rashid Khan did not allow the hosts to run away with the advantage as he made sure that the visitors get to a total close to 350 with his quickfire fifty. The hosts bowled really well but they would be disappointed not to wrap up the innings early on.

LUNCH! Solid end to the session for Afghanistan as they have picked up an important wicket of Shadman Islam in the very first over of Bangladesh's innings and have given only one run in the four overs that they bowled in the session.

Coming to Afghanistan, a bit puzzling to see them bat this morning, to be honest. With a pretty poor forecast of the weather for today and tomorrow, it would have been logical to have declared overnight but they chose to bat and extend the lead. Not a very good batting display but Ibrahim Zadran and Asghar Afghan ensured that Bangladesh do not have a sniff to win. Shakib got 3 wickets, being the best of the bowlers easily while the others were there on and about but struggled mostly.

So just under 7 overs needed for Bangladesh to wrap things up this morning. But they have a tall task in front of them. The overall lead is 397 and even though Bangladesh have two days technically, it is going to take a huge effort.

Tino Mawoyo is out there for the pitch report. Mawoyo says there has been a lot of rain overnight. He says that the pitch has taken a lot of turn which is more than what happens in Chattogram. Further states that the pitch will take more turn as the day progresses and if you are a left-hander, it will be tough work as the patch of dust will rise up.

Update - 1135 Local - Good news! The pitch inspection is done and play will start at 1150 Local time. Lunch will be taken at 1300 Local with Tea at 1540 and the play will go on till 1740 with an extended half an hour if the overs are not completed.

Update - 11.04 am local (0504 GMT) - We are hearing that the covers are being slowly peeled off and some sunshine has appeared. Fingers crossed for a start soon.

We are getting information that a depression is being formed on the Bay of Bengal and there is forecast for heavy rain for both the days. So a draw cannot be ruled out.

Oh dear. Bad news to begin with. We were supposed to start 20 minutes early but it is raining in Chittagong. However, it is not too heavy at the moment. Hopefully, it is not for very long. Stay tuned for further updates.

Bangladesh would not mind the weather forecast one bit. They have been behind the 8-ball ever since the Afghan-Rahmat partnership in the first innings and not been able to recover. They would love if it rains but then would not want to be over-reliant on the same. Afghanistan would believe that if they get close to 50-60 overs at the home side, they can win this Test. But the longer they bat, the better it will be for the Bangladeshis.

Hola there! Day 4, only Test. Final day probably? Who knows. Afghanistan would believe that 374 is more than enough but after what happened to Australia in 'Stokes'ingley, they would just want to get to 400 to bat Bangladesh out of the game. Having said that, the forecast for the remaining two days is iffy. Should that pave way for an overnight declaration?

Bangladesh, well, seem to be just going through the motions. They would have wanted their last two wickets to last a bit longer than they did and with the ball, would have wished to get quick wickets. They got 3 quickly but once that massive partnership came, shoulders started to droop. Nothing much was available from the track either which made life difficult for the bowlers.

After bowling out the Bangladesh batters for 205, the hosts did not start all that well losing two wickets in the first over itself. But Ibrahim Zadran and Asghar Afghan stitched a magnificent 108-run stand to give an advantage to the visitors. Following their wickets, Rashid Khan played a brief cameo showing signs of declaration but they let the lower order batsmen have all the fun before bad light stopped play.

Another excellent outing for the visitors here, they have gotten a huge lead of 374 runs and are in the driver's seat at the moment. With two days to go still in the Test match, Afghanistan are likely favorites to upset the hosts here.
