Afghanistan vs Bangladesh Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - T20I Summary
So, that's it from us! Afghanistan cricket takes another step forward, a big step forward with this emphatic whitewash over Bangladesh. The Tigers will be disappointed with their outing in this series, especially how they fared with the bat. Plenty to work on for them. Anyway, we thank you for your company and hope you join us for future matches. In the meantime, you can switch tabs and catch all the action from the 1st Test between West Indies and Sri Lanka. Cheers!
Asghar Stanikzai says he's happy they won the series 3-0. Reckons this series has been a good preparation for the upcoming Test series against India. Feels all the players have been working very hard to improve Afghanistan cricket on the whole. Adds that everyone is doing their job in all the departments and as a result, everything falls in place. Thanks his board for the continued support and also thanks the crowd for their support throughout the series.
Shakib Al Hasan says his side performed better than the first two games so is disappointed they lost out tonight. Feels they restricted Afghanistan to a reasonable total and rues the middle overs where they didn't score as many as they would have liked. Applauds Rahim and Mahmudullah for their effort and says anything can happen in a T20 game as everything is so close. Admits there are plenty of areas they can work on and will get down to it as soon as possible.
Man of the Series, Rashid Khan, thanks the Almighty first up. Is happy as they won the game and is delighted he's able to execute his skills and perform for his side. Emphasizes that it's important to enjoy every ball and that's what helps him do so well. Mentions that with the way the wicket was, it was important to bowl in the good length areas. Credits his fitness mainly for his success as he stresses that it's important in every department of the game. Ends by thanking the crowd for their continued support throughout the series and hopes he and his side can come back soon to play again in Dehradun.
Man of the Match, Mushfiqur Rahim, says he knew it was going to be a difficult task. Thought they were a few runs short in the last over because it's quite hard to score so many runs. Credits Afghanistan for the way they played and vows to come back stronger whenever they play Afghanistan next. Reckons 145 was a par score and with the bowlers the Afghans have, it's a difficult task as it is. States that they lost a few early wickets but knew that he and Mahmudullah could do it if they took the game deep, but Rashid Khan bowled a superb last over which they couldn't overcome.
The Afghans were terrific for the most part with the ball and in the field as well. They applied a lot of pressure on the Bangladeshi batsmen. Had someone from the top order managed to do just a bit more, the outcome could have probably ended differently. Earlier in the evening, a solid start from the Afghan openers and some late hitting from the middle order saw them get to a total which eventually proved to be just enough.
With 9 needed off the final over, Rashid Khan proved once again why he's held in such high regard. He dismissed Rahim off the first ball and kept things really tight. But, on this night, even he needed some assistance and it came via some outstanding work in the field from Shafiq. If not for his heroics right at the end, Bangladesh would have won this game. A superb effort all around.
A cliffhanger of a contest has come to a close. It went right down to the wire but Afghanistan clinched the victory to whitewash Bangladesh 3-0 to take the series by storm. With a target of 146 in front of them, the Tigers did not get off to the best of starts. Were 35/3 inside the Powerplay and looking down and out. But, Rahim and Mahmudullah stepped up to the plate and took it on their shoulders to put up a fight. That 19th over gave them a real impetus where Rahim scored 21 runs against Janat.
Rashid Khan to Ariful Haque. AFGHANISTAN WIN BY 1 RUN! But what drama on the final delivery. Oh, dear me! Dear me! Shafiqullah Shafiq, you absolute beauty. Talk about a stunning effort to win your side the match. Unbelievable stuff. Fuller in length around off, Haque lofts it down towards long on. Shafiq is the man there, he moves to his left and leaps to get his hands to the ball. He still has a lot of work to do as the ball starts to travel across the rope. He moves swiftly once again, stretches low and pulls it back in. Nabi from long off comes to the ball and throws it back in towards Shahzad. He collects the ball and whips the bails off as the batsmen are coming back for the third. Mahmudullah is the batsman who's out and Afghanistan celebrate. But, they are going to have to wait a moment as the umpire wants to check if it's a boundary or not. It's taken upstairs and the replays show that Shafiq managed to do just enough to keep the ball in. Phew!
Rashid Khan to Mahmudullah. Quite full and quicker in pace, slogged through to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Rashid Khan to Ariful Haque. Loopy leg break around off, Haque plays it off the outer edge towards short third man for a run. Mahmudullah on strike now, 5 needed in 2. What's going to happen here?
Rashid Khan to Ariful Haque. Runs will be welcome no matter how they come by Bangladesh. Fuller outside off, Haque goes down to sweep and gets it off the under edge through the keeper's legs for a double.
Rashid Khan to Mahmudullah. Googly on middle and leg, spinning in, Mahmudullah gets some bat on it as it goes down towards short fine leg. Quick run taken.
Rashid Khan to Mushfiqur Rahim. OUT! Rashid Khan strikes off the very first ball! Mushfiqur Rahim holes out. His favourite shot, the momentum on his side and it's an unfortunate dismissal for his side. Tossed up on the stumps, Rahim gets down and slog sweeps. It's flat and right towards Najibullah out at deep mid-wicket, who dives forward and takes a superb catch.
Karim Janat to Mushfiqur Rahim. No! Just the single. But it's still a phenomenal over. 21 from it. Rahim digs out the yorker and keeps strike.
Karim Janat to Mushfiqur Rahim. FOUR! What a gem of a knock Rahim is playing here. Batting of the highest quality. Overpitched on off stump, Rahim gets low and brings out the reverse sweep. The placement is perfect as he beats the diving backward point fielder for the fifth boundary of the over. 6 in 6 coming up?
Karim Janat to Mushfiqur Rahim. FOUR! 4 boundaries in 4 balls. This is sensational from the veteran Mushfiqur Rahim. He's seeing his side home here. Lofts this full ball over mid off comfortably. 14 needed in 7 now.
Karim Janat to Mushfiqur Rahim. FOUR! Three in a row. This time it's too full, Rahim takes full advantage of it by staying leg side. He drills this past mid off and finds the fence.
Karim Janat to Mushfiqur Rahim. FOUR! Two in two for Rahim! This is stupendous batting. Shortish in length, Rahim goes across the line this time and pulls it through mid-wicket. Beats the man in the deep and sends it across the rope for a boundary.
Karim Janat to Mushfiqur Rahim. FOUR! Good start to the over for Bangladesh. Short and wide, Rahim flays this over point and finds the fence. Needs to push in this over, it's the crucial one.
