Afghanistan vs Bangladesh Highlights And Cricket Score 3rd Match - T20I Commentary
It was a collective performance from the Bangladeshi bowlers. Barring Abu Hider, everyone was relatively economical and most managed to pick some wickets as well. The gamble from Shakib to use his spinners, including himself, in the death overs paid off as the Afghan batsmen lost their wickets trying to finish off big. Well, half the battle is won, but the biggest one remains. Bangaldesh's batting has let them down largely and now, they will have to post their biggest total of the series tonight. Should be interesting to see how it unfolds. Join us in a while for the chase.
A good bowling performance from Bangladesh to restrict Afghanistan to 145. The 'hosts' got off to a solid start as the opening pair put on a fifty-run stand, but since then the Tigers kept things tight by picking up wickets at regular intervals. There were two good partnerships, both involving Shenwari. He shared it with Stanikzai and Najibullah. But aside from that, there wasn't anything of note. Nabi failed to get going and that probably was why they didn't even get to the 150-mark.
Nazmul Islam to Samiullah Shenwari. A good finish to the innings. Another faster one from Islam and Shenwari could only get it to the cover region. Just one run taken, a very poor running between the wickets. Rashid Khan was eyeing the second one but Shenwari didn't respond, in fact, he is seen clutching his hamstring. Tremendous final over by Islam, AFGHANISTAN MANAGE 145/6 ON THE BOARD!
Nazmul Islam to Samiullah Shenwari. Right in the blockhole! Good bowling from the bowler. He is not allowing any easy runs to the Afghanistan batsmen.
Nazmul Islam to Rashid Khan. Gives the charge and powers the ball to the mid-wicket region. One run added to the total. These singles won't hurt Bangladesh. They have dragged back this game a touch.
Nazmul Islam to Samiullah Shenwari. This is a bit too unorthodox from Shenwari. Goes for the reverse sweep but couldn't get it past the backward point fielder. Intelligent bowling from Islam.
Rashid Khan is out next.
Nazmul Islam to Shafiqullah. OUT! He gets his man this time. Similar delivery from the bowler and similar kind of shot from Shafiqullah as well. The difference is the top edge. He tries the big shot off the flighted delivery on off. Mistimes. The ball hangs in the air and Mehidy Hasan at point, steadies himself and takes the catch. Afghanistan's batsmen are falling like nine pins and they haven't scored as many as they would have liked. Good comeback from the Bangladesh bowlers.
Nazmul Islam to Shafiqullah. Islam flights this one beautifully, entices the batsman for a big hit who falls prey. He goes for a hoick across the line but misses the delivery altogether as the ball misses the stumps and thuds into the keeper's gloves.
Nazmul Islam will bowl the final over of the innings.
Shakib Al Hasan to Shafiqullah. The batsman gives this a full swing of the bat, down on one knee for a sweep. The batsmen have run through for a single as the ball goes to long on.

Fast hands from the youngster and some much-needed acceleration for the team in blue.

Shakib Al Hasan says they want to win the match, so the toss doesn't really matter. States he wants his side to finish the series on a high and it hurts to lose the series. Reckons today is another day and a win in this game will give them confidence for their upcoming games. Let's everyone know there are three changes as Abu Jayed, Ariful Haque and Mehidy Hasan come in for Rubel Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain and Sabbir Rahman.
Asghar Stanikzai says they would like to bat first. Mentions they want to play good and positive cricket and is taking the bat first because the ball will turn a lot later on. Informs there is one change as Aftab Alam comes in for Shapoor Zadran.
Toss - Tails is the call from the Bangladesh captain and it's heads. Afghanistan win the toss and they will bat first!
Pitch Report - Ed Rainsford doing the pitch report says there's not going to be much bounce and there isn't much grass, so the spinners will play their part again. Adds that previous games have shown you don't need a big score to win at this venue. Ends by saying that the batsmen will have to play the spinners out as they will be the key.
On the other hand, Bangladesh would feel outplayed in all the aspects of the game. There captain, Shakib Al Hasan hasn't been able to lead the team from the front. They have played some very good cricket but in bits and pieces, which has been their downfall in the series. The last game of the series is a dead rubber, however, both the teams would want to win. Afghanistan surely want to put the final nail in the coffin and enhance their dominance in their second series against a Test playing nation, whereas, the Bangla Tigers will look to salvage some pride and look to hit back in a nothing-to-lose game. All in all, it's going to be another juicy affair and we're looking forward to it.
Hello and welcome to the coverage of the third T20I between Afghanistan and Bangladesh from the Rajvi Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Dehradun. Afghanistan have already sealed the series when they beat the visitors by 6 wickets in the last match. The Afghan skipper Asghar Stanikzai has used his bowlers cleverly and hasn't allowed the Bangladesh batsmen to get any easy runs. Rashid Khan and company has been on the money since the first match, along with their formidable batting line-up.
So, that's it from us! Afghanistan cricket takes another step forward, a big step forward with this emphatic whitewash over Bangladesh. The Tigers will be disappointed with their outing in this series, especially how they fared with the bat. Plenty to work on for them. Anyway, we thank you for your company and hope you join us for future matches. In the meantime, you can switch tabs and catch all the action from the 1st Test between West Indies and Sri Lanka. Cheers!
Asghar Stanikzai says he's happy they won the series 3-0. Reckons this series has been a good preparation for the upcoming Test series against India. Feels all the players have been working very hard to improve Afghanistan cricket on the whole. Adds that everyone is doing their job in all the departments and as a result, everything falls in place. Thanks his board for the continued support and also thanks the crowd for their support throughout the series.
Shakib Al Hasan says his side performed better than the first two games so is disappointed they lost out tonight. Feels they restricted Afghanistan to a reasonable total and rues the middle overs where they didn't score as many as they would have liked. Applauds Rahim and Mahmudullah for their effort and says anything can happen in a T20 game as everything is so close. Admits there are plenty of areas they can work on and will get down to it as soon as possible.
Man of the Series, Rashid Khan, thanks the Almighty first up. Is happy as they won the game and is delighted he's able to execute his skills and perform for his side. Emphasizes that it's important to enjoy every ball and that's what helps him do so well. Mentions that with the way the wicket was, it was important to bowl in the good length areas. Credits his fitness mainly for his success as he stresses that it's important in every department of the game. Ends by thanking the crowd for their continued support throughout the series and hopes he and his side can come back soon to play again in Dehradun.
Man of the Match, Mushfiqur Rahim, says he knew it was going to be a difficult task. Thought they were a few runs short in the last over because it's quite hard to score so many runs. Credits Afghanistan for the way they played and vows to come back stronger whenever they play Afghanistan next. Reckons 145 was a par score and with the bowlers the Afghans have, it's a difficult task as it is. States that they lost a few early wickets but knew that he and Mahmudullah could do it if they took the game deep, but Rashid Khan bowled a superb last over which they couldn't overcome.
The Afghans were terrific for the most part with the ball and in the field as well. They applied a lot of pressure on the Bangladeshi batsmen. Had someone from the top order managed to do just a bit more, the outcome could have probably ended differently. Earlier in the evening, a solid start from the Afghan openers and some late hitting from the middle order saw them get to a total which eventually proved to be just enough.
With 9 needed off the final over, Rashid Khan proved once again why he's held in such high regard. He dismissed Rahim off the first ball and kept things really tight. But, on this night, even he needed some assistance and it came via some outstanding work in the field from Shafiq. If not for his heroics right at the end, Bangladesh would have won this game. A superb effort all around.
A cliffhanger of a contest has come to a close. It went right down to the wire but Afghanistan clinched the victory to whitewash Bangladesh 3-0 to take the series by storm. With a target of 146 in front of them, the Tigers did not get off to the best of starts. Were 35/3 inside the Powerplay and looking down and out. But, Rahim and Mahmudullah stepped up to the plate and took it on their shoulders to put up a fight. That 19th over gave them a real impetus where Rahim scored 21 runs against Janat.
Rashid Khan to Ariful Haque. AFGHANISTAN WIN BY 1 RUN! But what drama on the final delivery. Oh, dear me! Dear me! Shafiqullah Shafiq, you absolute beauty. Talk about a stunning effort to win your side the match. Unbelievable stuff. Fuller in length around off, Haque lofts it down towards long on. Shafiq is the man there, he moves to his left and leaps to get his hands to the ball. He still has a lot of work to do as the ball starts to travel across the rope. He moves swiftly once again, stretches low and pulls it back in. Nabi from long off comes to the ball and throws it back in towards Shahzad. He collects the ball and whips the bails off as the batsmen are coming back for the third. Mahmudullah is the batsman who's out and Afghanistan celebrate. But, they are going to have to wait a moment as the umpire wants to check if it's a boundary or not. It's taken upstairs and the replays show that Shafiq managed to do just enough to keep the ball in. Phew!
Is that a boundary? Have Bangladesh won? Have Afghanistan pulled it off? Shafiqullah Shafiq the man in the limelight and it's over to the TV umpire to determine whether he's made a clean save or not. So close. Let's see what happens here...
Rashid Khan to Mahmudullah. Quite full and quicker in pace, slogged through to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Rashid Khan to Ariful Haque. Loopy leg break around off, Haque plays it off the outer edge towards short third man for a run. Mahmudullah on strike now, 5 needed in 2. What's going to happen here?
Rashid Khan to Ariful Haque. Runs will be welcome no matter how they come by Bangladesh. Fuller outside off, Haque goes down to sweep and gets it off the under edge through the keeper's legs for a double.
Rashid Khan to Mahmudullah. Googly on middle and leg, spinning in, Mahmudullah gets some bat on it as it goes down towards short fine leg. Quick run taken.
Ariful Haque walks into the middle next.
Rashid Khan to Mushfiqur Rahim. OUT! Rashid Khan strikes off the very first ball! Mushfiqur Rahim holes out. His favourite shot, the momentum on his side and it's an unfortunate dismissal for his side. Tossed up on the stumps, Rahim gets down and slog sweeps. It's flat and right towards Najibullah out at deep mid-wicket, who dives forward and takes a superb catch.
Rashid Khan will bowl the final over. He has 8 to defend. All happening here. Going to a superb one, whichever way it goes.
Karim Janat to Mushfiqur Rahim. No! Just the single. But it's still a phenomenal over. 21 from it. Rahim digs out the yorker and keeps strike.
