The Pakistan Cricket Team pulled off a stunning victory against New Zealand at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. The Men in Green exhibited an all-round performance and walked away with a six-wicket victory against the Black Caps. Pakistan chased the total of 237 runs and it was Babar Azam who led the team to the finishing line with his blistering knock of 101 runs from 127 balls. He remained unbeaten along with Pakistan team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed. By the end of the game when the Men in Green were heading towards the dressing room, Pak skipper Ahmed asked the crowd to cheer for Azam who played such a vital role in the team’s victory. After winning the toss, Kane Williamson elected to bowl. It was Shaheen Ali who got an early breakthrough and made sure the Kiwi batsmen do not stay on the crease for a long time. Only Jimmy Neesham and Colin de Grandhomme who took the team to a respectable score as they made 97 and 64 runs respectively. On the other hand, Pakistan lost their openers Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman quite early in the game. Babar Azam along with Harris Sohail brought the team much-needed stability. Azam remained not out and took the team to victory along with Ahmed. With this win, Pakistan still remains in the hunt for the semi-finals of the CWC 2019. The team now has seven points in their kitty and is placed on number six of the points table. Pakistan will next play against Afghanistan on June 29,2019.
