Sanju Samson mustered a splendid double-century against Goa in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019. Playing for Kerela, the wicket-keeper batsman came in to bat at number three and took the opposition by storm. Samson went after the bowlers from the outset and rained fours and sixes at the KSCA Cricket (2) Ground in Alur. The opposition were left awestruck by the brilliant striking of the right-handed batsman as Samson registered his highest score in List-A cricket. The batsman scored 212 runs of mere 129 deliveries and became the sixth Indian to register a 200 plus score in List-A cricket. The Kerela-born batsman is around the Indian team for a while now and with this magnificent knock, Samson has made his case stronger.

During the course of his innings,  Samson crashed many records and also got praise from around the world. The right-handed batsman brought up his double-ton in just 125 deliveries which is the fastest List-A 200 score by an Indian. Samson’s knock of 212 is the highest by a wicket-keeper batsman in a fifty over the game. This knock was the highest score by any batsman in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy. Samson’s flabbergasting knock guided Kerela to a massive score of 372/3 in the first innings.

With the dip in form of Rishabh Pant, Samson’s selection was on the cards. The latter has made his case even stronger with this innings and its unlikely that Indian selectors could ignore this carnage. India’s next limited-overs assignment is set up with Bangladesh at home. The visitors will tour India for three T20Is and a solitary Test match. So, Samson will look to play some more astonishing knock in order to get a break in the Indian colours.
