Sanju Samson has been excluded from India's 16-member T20I squad for New Zealand and the decision certainly didn't go down well with many cricket fans. The wicket-keeper batsman, who played the third T20I between India and Sri Lanka, was expected to get a decent run but unfortunately faced the axe from the side. With Rishabh Pant not delivering consistently, many cricket pundits and experts batted for Samson’s inclusion in the line-up. The latter also made a comeback in India’s playing XI after five years and looked in team’s scheme of things going ahead. During the 3rd India vs Sri Lanka T20I, Samson replaced Pant in the playing XI and came at number three ahead of skipper Virat Kohli. Facing his first ball in international cricket after five years, the right-handed batsman announced his comeback in style and struck a giant six off the very first ball he faced. However, he perished in the succeeding delivery while trying to up the ante. Nevertheless, many fans lauded his intent and wanted to see more of him. So, Samson’s axing certainly irked the Indian cricket fans and below, we’ll look at how they reacted.

Speaking of India’s 2020 Tour of New Zealand, the full-fledged series will comprise of five T20Is, three ODIs and two Test matches, starting from January 24. Before that, Virat Kohli and Co will play three ODIs against Australia at home and will look to continue their dominance at home before taking on the Kiwis. With Samson’s departure, many eyes will be on Rishabh Pant and the southpaw will certainly have to put on some good performances to justify his selection in the side.
