Sanjay Bangar has been replaced by Vikram Rathour as the new batting coach of the Indian team. Not happy with the decision, Bangar was involved in a verbal spat with selectors of Indian team, according to a report by Times of India. The report alleged that Banger barged into the selector Devang Gandhi's room two weeks ago while the interviews for coaching staff were going on. He also warned the committee against replacing him as the batting coach. Team India Coaching Contracts to Come Into Effect From September 5, 2019.
TOI quoted a source as saying that Bangar knocked national selector Gandhi’s door late in the evening and scolded him and the selection committee. He said that the team will rally around him and the decision to replace him will fall flat. Bangar and other support staff got an extension of their contracts till India's tour of West Indies 2019. The TOI report also pointed out that several instances of Bangar's indiscipline have occurred in the past during his stint as batting coach of Team India and the matters have been reported to CoA chief Vinod Rai. The report also mentioned that the board is not happy with Bangar’s behaviour. The report also alleged that Bangar told selectors that if they can’t select him as batting coach, they should try to fit him in somewhere in National Cricket Academy (NCA).
“But that is not a decision for the selection committee to make. Right now, the board is clearly not happy with his behaviour. Too many instances have been brought to the notice of COA chief Vinod Rai” the source was quoted by TOI as saying. Bangar was appointed as India’s batting coach in August 2014.
