Indian tennis player Sania Mirza came up with an emotional message for his husband Shoaib Malik, who retired from ODI cricket yesterday after Pakistan’s magnificent victory over Bangladesh in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Sharing a photo of his husband gesturing goodbye in Pakistan’s jersey, the Indian tennis star wrote, “Every story has an end, but in life every ending is a new beginning’ @realshoaibmalik. Emotional Goodbye!
37-year-old Malik is a senior Pakistan cricketer who made his ODI debut in 1999. He was given a grand farewell by fellow teammates of Pakistan, who rocked with their performance in the last match against Bangladesh in CWC 2019 match played at Lord’s on July 5. Post the match, Malik informed about his decision to say goodbye to ODIs in the post-match conference.
Pakistan's batting all-rounder made his international debut in 1999 in a match against West Indies. The right-handed batsman played 287 ODIs for Pakistan, scoring 7534 runs in 258 innings. The right-arm off-break bowler has been also decent in bowling, scalping 158 wickets in 217 innings.
Although he retired from ODI Cricket, Malik will keep on playing T20 leagues in future. Malik has been very active in T20 leagues. He plays for Guyana Amazon Warriors Caribbean Premier League and Multan Sultan in Pakistan Super League.
