Nepal’s young spinner Sandeep Lamichhane after impressing one and all in his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut, has now caught everyone’s attention in the Big Bash League 2018-19 (BBL) as well. Playing for Melbourne Stars, Lamichhane scalped two wickets in his first over. His victims included the prized scalp of former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson. He dismissed Watson, who was caught at long-on, on the second ball of his over. And then ended the over with another wicket as he caught and bowled Callum Ferguson. The two wickets apparently put brakes on Sydney Thunder's innings and from 57/1 they were reduced to 59/3 in space of one over. Lamichhane, who earlier became the first Nepalese cricketer to play IPL, now has added one more feather to his cap to become the first player from his county to play in the BBL. In three opportunities in IPL this year, Lamichhane picked five wickets. He plays for Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) in the IPL.
After the sensational first over, Lamichhane went wicket-less thereafter and returned with figures of 2/36 in his quota of four overs. Sydney Thunder managed to score 181/5 in 20 over after youngster Jason Sangha scored 63 off just 36 balls. Toss With a Coin a History in Cricket?
