Arjun Tendulkar, the 18-year-old son of Indian cricketing icon, Sachin Tendulkar has given an impressive all-round performance on Australia debut. The Mumbai lad played a blistering knock of 48 runs off 27 deliveries. And not just with the bat, Arjun impressed everyone with his bowling skills. He claimed four wickets playing in the Spirit of Cricket Global Challenge, a tournament organized by the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). It has been a phenomenal display by the teenager who is looking to follow his superstar father’s footsteps and make it big in the cricketing world.

Arjun, who identifies himself as a left-arm pacer is representing Cricketer's Club of India at the ongoing competition. His side took on Hong Kong Cricket Club in a T20 match held at the Don Bradman Oval in Bowral. The young Indian player spoke about playing on the ground named after the legendary Australian batsman. "I'm just so privileged to play on the ground named after the Bradman, it's unbelievable," Arjun was quoted as saying by abc.net.au.

The ‘God of Cricket’ aka Sachin Tendulkar dominated the world cricket primarily as a batsman, though the master proved himself as a resourceful bowler. However, Arjun wants to make a name in the pace department. The left-arm pace battery also bats left-handed. The six-foot-plus player said, “ I just got stronger [growing up], grew taller and I loved bowling fast from my childhood. I thought I may as well be a quick bowler because there aren't many in India." Well thought, Arjun.

While the cricketing world and especially in India, everyone idolizes Sachin, but the budding cricketer considers Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc and England all-rounder Ben Stokes among his role models. On being questioned about the mountain of obvious expectations being Master Blaster’s son, Arjun had an honest and smart answer. "I don't take that pressure, when I bowl I just hit the deck hard on every ball and when I bat just play my shots and choose which bowlers to take on and which bowlers not to," he said.

Earlier, Arjun made headlines when he removed English wicket-keeper-batsman, Jonny Bairstow with a blazing yorker at a practice session. The boy who has represented Mumbai in under-14 and under-16 tournaments proved to be too expensive for England player. The audiences have seen Sachin guiding Arjun in bowling perfect lengths at the nets in Sachin’s 2017 biopic film, ‘Sachin – A Billion Dreams’. The boy is definitely proving his potential of a solid cricketer. Experts and fans would love to see more from Arjun in the ongoing tournament taking place between January 7-14, 2018.
