Sachin Tendulkar was awarded the prestigious Man of the tournament at ICC CWC 2003. Tendulkar scored 673 runs with an average of 66.90 in that World Cup held in South Africa. Tendulkar was presented with a gold trophy worth 500,000 Rand by West Indies all-rounder Sir Garfield Sobers.

Tendulkar still holds the record of maximum runs being scored by an individual in single world cup tournament. One can still not forget his blistering knock of 98 runs from 75 balls. Tendulkar was part of the Indian team which won CWC 2011 trophy, one year after which he announced his retirement in Dec 2012.

India will play their first CWC 2019 match against South Africa on June 5 at Southampton. This time the World Cup tournament features top 10 Test playing nations who will face each other in the Round Robin format. The final of ICC CWC 2019 will be played on July 14 at Lord's Cricket Ground, London.
