RR Squad in IPL 2019: Team Profile, Schedule of Rajasthan Royals in VIVO Indian Premier League 12
A look at Rajasthan Royals (RR) team for IPL 2019 along with their schedule.
The winner of the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League, the Rajasthan Royals have failed to add to the trophy cabinet ever since that famous campaign. They made a comeback in the IPL last season after serving a two-year ban. A decent 7 wins out of 14 propelled them to fourth in the league where there undone by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the eliminator. They will be coached by Paddy Upton who was the mental conditioning coach of the Indian cricket team during its infamous victory in 2011. He has been associated with Royals for the best part of six years now and hence knows well about its strengths and weaknesses. Aston Turner was picked up by the RR management in the 2019 auction and they will be delighted with the performance of their new buy in the recent India Australia series. The destructive middle order batsman has a wide array of shots and looks clam while going about his innings. He along with Jos Butler can really turn the tables in favour of Rajasthan Royals. Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson and Steve Smith in the top order makes them one of the best batting units in the IPL. Domestic players like Manan Vohra and Krishnappa Gowtham have performed in T20 cricket in the past and they can chip in with some useful contribution.
The Rajasthan Royals began with their initial training sessions at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai under the watchful eye of Paddy Upton. The aim of the camp was to improve the fitness of the players and also look for young players who can be promoted to the playing eleven. Outside cricket, the Rajasthan Royals management were successful in signing deals with BookMyShow as the ticketing partner and Alcis Sports as the merchandise partner. Strength
The batting of Rajasthan Royals is a real strength particularly those of their foreign players. Jos Butler dominated bowlers last time in the IPL and this time he has Aston Tuner and Steve Smith for a company as well. Smith may have been out of the game for a year but is a class batsman that can come in handy at the No. three slot. Ajinkya Rahane is known for building partnerships and he would be the one looking to play the sheet anchor role.
Weakness
Their frontline bowlers Jofra Archer, Jayadev Unadkat, Shreyas Gopal and Ish Sodhi are good but certainly not in the bracket of world class bowlers. If they do not get the wickets or help in putting a break on the oppositions’ scoring rate, the team will find themselves in a spot of bother. All-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham and Ben Stokes are the preferred fifth bowling option of the side but they can be taken for plenty.
