Rohit Sharma's Test Average is 98.22 in India After Opening Batsman Propels Team to 202/0 on Day 1 of IND vs SA, 1st Test Match 2019

Rohit Sharma brought up his fourth century at the VDCA Stadium in Vishakhapatnam during India vs South Africa, first Test. With this silenced many of his critics who have raised questions on his abilities. The Mumbai batsman batted very patiently alongside Mayank Agarwal who also scored a half-century. The day one of the match was suspended due to bad weather but then it was Sharma who walked away with the limelight for his fourth century. As per the ICC, the Indian opener averages 98.22 in India and only Don Bradman has a better record than Sharma. As of now, Sharma has remained not out on the score of 115 along with Mayank Agarwal on 84 runs from 183 balls. With this, Sharma has joined the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw as he became the fourth batsman to score a 100 in his maiden innings as an opener.

After the match, during the press conference, the Indian opener thanked the Indian team management for giving him an opportunity to bat at the opening slot. He also mentioned that the batting order suits his style as he does not have to wait for a long time in the pavilion for his turn. By stumps, the Indians have made 202 runs for no loss of wicket.
