In the second One-Day International (ODI) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam against West Indies, Indian opener Rohit Sharma scored 159 off just 138 balls. This was Rohit’s seventh ODI century in 2019 and 28th overall. In fact, for seven consecutive years, Rohit has now registered the highest score by a batsman for India in ODIs. In 2013, Rohit scored 209, his first double-century, against Australian in Bengaluru. The right-hander then scored 264, the highest score by a batsman in ODIs, against Sri Lanka in 2014. Meanwhile, Rohit has now become the leading run-scorer in ODIs after his knock in Vizag. The Indian vice-captain has now 1427 runs against his name from 27 matches in 2019 at an average of 57.08. The talented right-hander is now joint-fourth on most centuries in ODIs list with former Sri Lanka cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya. Only Sachin Tendulkar (49), Virat Kohli (43) and Ricky Ponting (30) are now ahead of the Indian opener.
