India is all set to tour Australia later in the year for a five-match Test series. India has kept the Border-Gavaskar in their grasp after winning the series home and way since 2017. They will look to continue the tradition and also seal a place in the final of the World Test championship when they visit down under. Last time India visited Australia, they secured the famous victory at the Gabba and Rishabh Pant emerged as India's star batter. According to sources from PTI, there has been reports that Indian captain Rohit Sharma might miss a Test match in Australia due to some personal reasons. Although there has been no confirmation of such a withdrawal yet, but a source informed PTI that there is chances and if the issue gets resolved, Rohit will play all the Test matches in Australia.

There isn't any complete clarity about the situation. It is understood that Rohit has intimated to the BCCI that due to a pressing personal matter, he might have to skip one of the two Test matches at the beginning of the series." a BCCI source told PTI. Previously when India toured Australia, Rohit Sharma missed both the opening two Test matches due to injury. He played at Sydney and Brisbane. Also it is yet to be confirmed, who will lead Team India if Rohit is absent in one of the Test matches. Shubman Gill or Rishabh Pant can be given the responsibility while as a batter Abhimanyu Easwaran can be the option to fill in for Rohit. Easwaran will be there in Australia already as he is set to lead India A ahead of the series. Virat Kohli also might be considered. He led India for one Test match in the last series in Australia after which he had to leave because of the birth of his first child. Earlier, Abhishek Nayar hinted there are multiple members in the team who have led IPL teams and a possible absence of Rohit won't be of much issue.
