Rohit Sharma smashed his second half-century of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 during India’s clash against Pakistan at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on June 16 (Sunday). The 32-year-old reached the landmark in style sending spinner Shadab Khan for a square drive through point to bring up his half-century. Rohit took Shadab for 17 runs in the over, which included two fours and a huge six over mid-wicket. He completed his half-century in 34 deliveries with six fours and two mammoth sixes. The Indian opening pair of Rohit and KL Rahul (31*) has already stitched an 85-run partnership after Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. Rahul, who batted in the middle order in the last two matches, was moved to open alongside Rohit after regular opener Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of World Cup 2019 for three weeks when he hurt his left thumb against Australia.
India are placed fourth in the points standings, while Pakistan with two defeats and a win are positioned ninth. India and New Zealand are the only teams yet to lose a game in the competition.
