Rohit Sharma has equalled with MS Dhoni’s record of most sixes for India in One-One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The Indian opener achieved the feat during the third ODI between India and New Zealand at the bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Rohit at the start of the match needed two maximum hits to equal with the former captain’s record of 215 sixes. Dhoni overall has slammed 222 sixes which includes seven for Asia XI against Africa XI in three matches during the Afro-Asia Cup in 2007.

Meanwhile, Rohit now has 215 sixes against his name from 193 innings. Rohit smashed sixes off spinner Mitchell Santner and fast-bowler Lockie Ferguson to join Dhoni. Meanwhile, Rohit registered his 39th ODI half-century and second consecutive against New Zealand before he was stumped off Santner. India were set a target of 244 to win the third ODI. The visitors lead the five-match series 2-0 and look set to seal it in the third ODI. Interestingly, Rohit will captain India in next two ODIs as Virat Kohli has been asked to rest.
