Decision Review System (DRS) continued to make the headlines in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The referral system, which has often courted controversy for its varied decisions, was once again at the centre of things at the start of India vs West Indies match in CWC 2019 after Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma was controversially declared out by third umpire Michael Gough after using the DRS. The right-hander was given out for nicking a Kemar Roach delivery to wicket-keeper Shai Hope. The Indian vice-captain was looking in good touch and had already made 18 runs from 22 deliveries when a Roach delivery swung back into him and went right between his bat and pad to the wicket-keeper. The West Indies players immediately appealed and although the on-field umpires initially gave it as not out, the decision was referred to the third umpire as West Indies opted to review the decision. The third umpire, however, overturned the decision and adjudged Rohit to have edged the delivery leading to a huge uproar on Twitter.

Luckily for India, despite the Initial back set they managed to take control of things with KL Rahul and Virat Kohli engaging in a 50+ runs partnership to prevent a quick collapse.
