Rohit Sharma Dedicates His Century During the IND vs ENG 3rd T20I to Deceased Male Northern White Rhino Sudan
Rohit Sharma took to Twitter and dedicated his match-winning innings to Sudan, world’s last male northern white rhino who died in March this year.
Rohit Sharma guided India to victory in the third and final T20 International against England. The win helped India clinch the three-match series 2-1. The Indian opener was at his usual best as he recorded his third T20I century. The right-hander finished unbeaten on 100 off just 56 balls and during his knock smashed 11 fours and five sixes. Meanwhile, the Indian vice-captain took to Twitter and dedicated his match-winning innings to Sudan, world’s last male northern white rhino who died in March this year.
The right-handed opening batsman in his post addressed Sudan as “fallen friend” and wrote: “Yesterday’s innings is dedicated to my fallen friend Sudan May we find a way to make this world a better place for all of us.” Rohit Sharma Scores 3rd T20I Century As India Beat England to Clinch Series 2–1.
The 45-year-old rhino was euthanised in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya after falling severely ill. This was not the first time Rohit posted about Sudan. After Sudan’s death, the 31-year-old Rohit took to Instagram and posted a picture of himself with the animal and expressed the sadness over his death. “The last Male has fallen We Did This the last Northern White African male rhino marks the certain extinction of this incredible species. Rest in peace Sudan, you deserved so much better. On behalf of all mankind, I’m sorry We Did This,” Rohit wrote.
Meanwhile, scientists recently said that they have grown embryos containing DNA of Sudan’s kind. At present only two northern white rhino (NWR) are known to be alive, both being infertile females.
