By now, breaking records seems to be a routine business for the Indian cricketers. Now, ahead of the second ODI against West Indies at Vizag, Rohit Sharma is on the verge of overhauling Sachin Tendulkar’s record. The Hitman who is in the form of his life set the Guwahati stadium on fire with his blistering knocking on 152 runs, which came with 15 fours and eight sixes. With this, he already overtook India’s former captain Sourav Ganguly for hitting the most number of ODI sixes. India vs Windies Match Preview 2nd ODI 2018: Virat Kohli and Co Look to Double the Lead.
Rohit who has 194 sixes in 183 innings is just a single hit away from equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record. The Master Blaster has 195 sixes to his name in 452 innings. Thus, the Hitman needs a couple of hits to surpass Tendulkar. He also just three runs away from getting to 3,000 runs milestone. Rohit Sharma has been in a great form for a couple of years now. If Sharma gets that, he will be the only opening batsman to have made 3,000 ODI runs since the 2015 World Cup as the next best openers are England’s Jason Roy who has 2,532 runs. South Africa’s Quinton de Kock has scored 2,442 runs, Shikhar Dhawan had made 2,320 runs and Australian David Warner (2,296 runs).
In 54 games now, Rohit Sharma scored 2,997 runs recording the highest average of 65.15. The right-hander also got the most number of centuries scoring 13 hundred and also went on to be the joint fourth-highest with 11 half-centuries. On Sunday, during the first ODI, Rohit Sharma already broke one record of Sachin Tendulkar and Australia’s David Warner to become the first batsman with six 150-plus scores in One-Day Internationals.
