Rohit Sharma brought up his 19th hundred in One-Day International (ODIs) cricket in the Super Four Round match against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2018 and also reached 7,000 runs in the one-day cricket format. Sharma brought up his century in 106 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan also registered their 13th 100-run partnership and became the fourth pair with highest number of century partnerships in one day cricket. The duo also broke the record for the highest opening stand while chasing in ODIs.

Winning the toss, Pakistan decided to bat first and produced an improved batting performance, led by senior batsman Shoaib Malik, scoring 237 for 7 in a 'Super Four' encounter of the Asia Cup. Veteran Malik scored 78 off 90 balls and added an invaluable 107 runs for the fourth wicket with skipper Sarfraz Ahmed (44 off 66 balls) to enable Pakistan post a fighting total.
