Lucknow, November 6: Indian stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma has scored his fourth T20I century, while playing against West Indies during the second match at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Stadium in Lucknow, on Tuesday. Initially, the right-handed batsman began his innings cautiously and paced it up in a splendorous manner, later on. Rohit scored his century off 58 balls. With this century, he has become the highest century-scorer in T20I format.
Rohit Sharma ended the innings by being unbeaten on 111 runs. In his explosive knock, the stand-in captain scored 8 fours and 7 sixes. With this inning, Rohit also went on to become the highest run-scorer for India in T20I format.
The dashing batsman has scored 2,203 runs in his 86-match career so far. Rohit Sharma is closely followed by Virat Kohli with 2,102 runs in 62 matches. Sharma has scored these runs with an impressive average close to 33 and with the strike rate nearing 150. Suresh Raina is third on the list with 1,604 runs against his name in 78 matches.
India in the second T20I match has scored 195 runs with the loss of just two wickets in the first innings. The opening partnership of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan laid a solid foundation, before the latter was dismissed on 43 runs.
Rishabh Pant who was promoted up the order failed to capitalise on the opportunity and was dismissed after scoring five runs. In the last few overs, Sharma and KL Rahul accelerated the scoring rate.
