Rohan Jaitley, Late Arun Jaitley’s Son and DDCA President, Frontrunner to Be Named New BCCI Secretary if Jay Shah Becomes ICC Chairman: Report

There have been a lot of speculations over who is set to become the new BCCI secretary if Jay Shah is named the new chairman of ICC. Earlier, Greg Barclay had announced that he would not be contesting elections for a third term for the role of ICC chairman.

Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Arun Jaitley is reportedly the frontrunner to succeed Jay Shah as the new Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary if the latter is named chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). There have been a lot of reports of late which have suggested that Shah, the current secretary of the BCCI is the favourite to become the new ICC chairman, succeeding Greg Barclay who earlier decided to step down from his role after a four-year stay. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah To Replace Greg Barclay As ICC Chairman: Report.

According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, the DDCA president, who is also the son of the late Arun Jaitley, is leading the race to become the new BCCI secretary. Jaitley was elected president of the DDCA in 2023 and the report also adds that BCCI president Roger Binny and others will continue in their roles with their tenures coming to an end after a year. There have been several reports stating the fact that Jay Shah has the confidence of several cricket boards including that of England and Australia.  Who Will Succeed Jay Shah If He Becomes New ICC Chairman? If Shah is named the new ICC chairman, he would become the youngest ever to hold that position at 35 years of age. He would also join the list of Indians which includes Jagmohan Dalmiya, N Srinivasan, Sharad Pawar and Shashank Manohar, who have served in that role previously. The last date for filing nominations for the ICC chairman elections is August 27.
