Rishabh Pant did not have the nets of the outing as he replaced MS Dhoni for the two remaining One-Day Internationals (ODI) against Australia. At Mohali in the fourth ODI, Pant’s sloppy work behind the stumps cost India the game. Pant misses a stumping after he failed to collect Yuzvendra Chahal’s delivery down the leg. Turner was batting on 38 at that time and went on to score unbeaten 84 off 43 balls. In the same over, Pant, who tried Dhoni-style no-look run out, gave away an extra run.

After Pant’s bizarre glove-work crowd present at the venue started chanting “Dhoni, Dhoni” to further cause embarrassment for the young keeper, who is tipped to replace Dhoni in future. And after the match, Pant was trending on Twitter with fans trolling him for his sloppy work behind the stumps. Here are some of the reactions: India vs Australia 4th ODI- As it Happened.

Pant is likely to find a place in the Indian squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as a reserve wicketkeeper. However, his performance behind the stumps at Mohali might make selectors think hard before picking him for the mega tournament. Pant will have another opportunity to impress at Delhi on March 13 in the fifth and final ODI.
