Rishabh Pant had an eventful World Cup debut to remember. The 21-year-old, who is playing his first game in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, scored 32 from 29 deliveries to keep India in the hunt for chasing down a record total in World Cup history. But it was his "darr lag raha hain" comment during the Indian innings that became the talking point of IND vs ENG game. Pant was included in the playing XI after a niggle ruled all-rounder Vijay Shankar out of important India vs England clash. Although not named in the original India Cricket World Cup 2019 squad, Pant came to England as a replacement for the injured Shikhar Dhawan. The incident occurred in the 38th over of India's innings, which Mark Wood was bowling. Rohit Sharma, who had scored his third century of CWC 2019, had just been dismissed an over ago bringing Pandya to the crease. But with India still far behind in the run chase - India were 204/3 after 37 overs - Pandya asked Pant to go big and try and hit few boundaries. That is when the debutant admitted that he was scared. "Dar lag raha hain" Pant told Pandya following which the latter consoled him and asked him to calm down. But this comment was caught on the stump mic and fans soon found out about it.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma scored his 25th ODI century and Virat Kohli became the first captain to hit five consecutive half-centuries in World Cups history. He is also the second player after Steve Smith (2015) to achieve the milestone in a single edition of the World Cup. England set India a 338-run target with Jonny Bairstow hitting his maiden ODI century.
