It has been already announced by BCCI that the IPL 2025 will see a new mega auction. Which means, players will have to return to the player pool for the auction while teams can reshuffle their squad according to their requirements. The meeting for the retention rules and the salary purse has also been conducted. Although the confirmed retentions rules are yet to come from BCCI, teams have already started brainstorming their list of preferences in terms of Indian, overseas and uncapped retentions. There has been also reports of some players looking to change their franchise in search of new opportunities. Amidst this, report has suggested that Rishabh pant is all set to be retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Rishabh Pant's Childhood Coach Devender Sharma Reacts After Star Indian Wicketkeeper Scores Century During IND vs BAN 1st Test 2024, Says 'Gabba Was Special but Test Hundred on Comeback is Also Right Up There'.

Previously, a few reports have suggested that Rishabh Pant can make a move ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. They also revealed that his potential destination is Chennai Super Kings and he will take up the captaincy baton from MS Dhoni there. But according to reports from Cricbuzz, sources within the Delhi Capitals' ownership group have revealed that Pant will be the franchise's top retention choice. This decision was finalized following a recent meeting between Pant and co-owner Parth Jindal in Mumbai. Pant's current IPL salary is INR 16 crore, but this figure is expected to go up based on the total player purse allowed to a franchise and the retention fee guidelines set by the BCCI. ‘Idhar Ayega Ek’ Rishabh Pant Helps Bangladesh Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto in Setting Field While Batting During IND vs BAN 1st Test Day 3 2024 (Watch Video).

Pant missed the IPL 2023 season due to his accident injuries and made a comeback as skipper in IPL 2024. Cricbuzz has also confirmed that the management has likely finalized a few other retention calls as well. If the BCCI allows more than five players to be retained, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are expected to be kept by the franchise, likely in that order, with Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs as the overseas retentions. Additionally, if there is a provision to retain uncapped players, the DC management is expected to go with 21-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel. The two co-owners of Delhi Capitals, the GMR and JSW Groups, manage the franchise alternately for a rolling two-year period each, with the GMR Group currently on the wheel.
