‘You live by the sword, and you die by it’, the proverb suits Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant, the most given how flamboyant his batting style is! The stylish left-hander got dismissed on 92 runs, again, against West Indies in the first session of play on Day 3 of the second Test match at Hyderabad.

Selected ahead of Dinesh Karthik and a recovering Wriddhiman Saha in the Test series, Rishabh Pant has proved his mettle by playing two stupendous knocks consecutively. It is still early days; however, the repertoire of his stroke-making is quite exquisite for a 21-year-old player.

If the match conditions in the first Test was about hitting every ball to the fence, the conditions in the second match were very different. In the first match at Rajkot, Pant scored a stylish 92, where he took only 84 balls to reach the nervous nineties. In his innings, he hit 8 fours, and 4 sixes and was seeming to score a hundred, before he threw his wicket to up the already-high ante!

In the second match at Hyderabad, Pant played patiently, and showed that he too had a different style of play and can adapt to the circumstances of the game. In both the matches, Pant got to those shots which he will regret once he will be back in the dressing room watching replays. Those shots could have been played differently, and nobody better than him knows it. However, seeing how his batting style has been in the limited number of matches he has played, it was not something unpredictable.
