Rishabh Pant Becomes First Indian Wicketkeeper Batsman to Score a Test Century in Australia, Achieves Feat During Ind vs Aus 4th Test 2019

Rishabh Pant may have just cemented his place in the Indian Test side with an impressive century against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) during the day two of the fourth Test. By registering the three-figure mark, Pant now becomes the first Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to score a century in Australia. The young wicketkeeper already has a Test century in England against his name. Pant came out to bat after the dismissal of Hanuma Vihari in the first session and seized the opportunity to dish out a big knock.
Pant completed his hundred off 137 balls and found fence throughout his innings. Interestingly, with this century, Pant now has more runs than Indian captain Virat Kohli in this series. Pant made his Test debut last year in August against England. After initial failures, he managed to score a century. Following his century in England, Pant missed out on a century twice at home against Windies. The left-handed batsman was dismissed on 92 twice during the India vs Windies Tests series.
Pant has been scoring 20s and 30s this series and now has finally converted one into a three-figure mark. The wicketkeeper-batsman now has two half-centuries and as many centuries against his name. Meanwhile, Indian batsmen continued to hammer Australia as the visitors’ first innings total has gone past the 550-run mark in the final Test. Cheteshwar Pujara, who finished unbeaten on 130 on day one, missed out on his double century by seven runs after being dismissed on 193 runs.
