There have been many stories and speculations doing the rounds that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a difficult person to get hold of, on his mobile phone. There have been instances in the past, especially Dhoni being missing from VVS Laxman’s retirement bash, where rumours were spread about him not sharing a good rapport off the field.
As per a recent report in India Today, the former Indian captain revealed quite a few things which would put speculations about issues regarding him to rest. In a recent event in Mumbai, on Tuesday, MS Dhoni said that there lies a big divide between him and technology.
The former Indian captain said, “Me and technology, there is a big divide. I don't use phones so much, and there are a lot of stories I don't pick up phones. But I do use technology as well. When I am shown some videos, you wonder if I am playing it right. Technology has to be used in the right way.” He further added, “That's not something new. I have tried to improve, but it seems I have not really improved.”
Putting an end to the controversy that erupted in 2012 during Laxman’s retirement MS Dhoni said, “You think it's a controversy but people who know me always complained that I'm someone who is quite difficult to get hold of. That was one of the reasons why Laxmanbhai could not get hold of me.”
Recently, MS Dhoni was involved in another controversy as India lost the third One Day International (ODI) and eventually the series 2-1 to England, last month. There were visuals which surfaced online showing Dhoni asking for the match ball after the culmination of the match.
It sparked off rumours that Dhoni, who had an off-series, will be retiring soon. However, team coach Ravi Shastri was quick to clarify that nothing of that sort is happening and Dhoni is going nowhere.
Talking about it Dhoni said, “We have to keep working. So I took the match ball to see how to get reverse swing in future. So I asked for the match ball from the umpire in that last ODI.”
The wicket-keeper batsman will be seen donning the Indian jersey next during the Asia Cup.
