Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were once again at the wrong end of online trolls after their former players Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer performed well against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2 match of IPL 2020. Stoinis and Hetmyer were both part of the RCB set-up in IPL 2019 but were not retained by the franchise for this season. Stoinis was promoted as an opener against Hyderabad after Delhi dropped Prithvi Shaw and he responded in style. Stoinis scored 38 from 27 deliveries with the help of five boundaries and a maximum and was involved in an 86-run opening partnership with Shikhar Dhawan (78). Hetmyer later came to bat in the 14th over and smashed 42 off 22 deliveries and gave DC the end flourish. His innings was studded with four boundaries and a maximum. He helped DC post 189 runs on the scoreboard. Later Stoinis also struck with the ball and picked two wickets in the same over to peg SRH behind in the chase. Stoinis, who came to bowl the fifth over, removed Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey in space of three deliveries.
With both players performing well and both former RCB cricketers, fans took to social media to troll Virat Kohli’s team for releasing both these players. RCB were trolled with funny memes and jokes. Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, are quite comfortably seated in the qualifier 2 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH are struggling at 1144 in the 15th over and need 76 from 35 deliveries to win the match and reach the final.
