One of the most critical decisions for any franchise heading into a mega auction are their retention. For the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (IPL), the Indian Premier League 2025 Mega Auction could very well be based on who and how many the management choices to retain from their IPL 2024 squad. IPL Governing Council states how much money a franchise can use to retain a player based on the order of choosing - INR 18 Crore, INR 14 Crore, INR 13 Crore, INR 18 Crore, INR 15 Crore, and INR 4 Crore - for first, second, third, fourth, fifth and uncapped retentions, respectiely. Keeping this in mind, let us see who are the likely contenders for IPL Retentions by RCB. IPL 2025 Mega Auction Likely to Take Place in Riyadh on November 24 and 25: Report.

Virat Kohli

Without any shadow of a doubt, RCB's first retention will be their talisman player, Virat Kohli. Kohli is the face of the franchise and has always talked about being loyal to Bengaluru, so RCB will in likelihood retain Kohli as their most cherished asset.

Akash Deep

RCB's find over the last few seasons has been Akash Deep, who impressed one-and-all with his bowling upfront and in the death overs. Akash can swing the ball both ways and is known to use the long handle well down the order, making him a utility player. IPL Franchises and Manchester United Co-Owners Showing Interest in ‘The Hundred’? Rajat Patidar

RCB has often had a shaky middle-order, which the retention of Rajat Patidar could solve. Despite being plagued with injuries, Patidar had managed to bring out stellar performances with the bat for RCB and can also be used as a floater, making the line-up flexible.

Mohammed Siraj

Over the years, Mohammed Siraj as a T-20 bowler has dipped, and been on the expensive side, something which has hampered RCB several times at Chinnaswamy. However, Siraj has proven himself again and again, something that RCB management have praised the bowler for. Siraj's experience in Bengaluru is much-needed for the upcoming 2025 season, who could end up spearheading the attack.
