This is not the first time Jadeja is part of the controversy directly or indirectly. Jadeja and Riva Solanki, who married in June 2016, stoked the controversy during their marriage celebrations as well. Here’s a quick look back at controversies involving the all-rounder both off and on the field:

Gunshots: Jadeja married Riva in traditional 'Kshatriya' style. However, a controversy erupted when gunshots were fired during the marriage celebrations. The gunshots were fired by the cricketer’s relatives it nearly resulted into Jadeja being thrown off by his panicked horse.

Lion Selfie: In 2016 photos of Jadeja along with his wife Riva posing in-front of lions at the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary at Sasan in Junagadh went viral. The act is strictly prohibited by law. Gujarat Forest department swung into action and ordered an inquiry. Jadeja was later let off after he paid a fine of Rs. 20,000.

Suspension against Sri Lanka: During a Test series in Sri Lanka, Jadeja was handed a one-match suspension for breaching ICC Code of Conduct. Jadeja threw the ball inappropriately at opener Dimuth Karunaratne off his own bowling when the batsman was inside the crease. Umpire later ruled it “dangerous" and along with ban, Jadeja was also slapped with a 50 percent fine on his match fee.

IPL ban: The all-rounder was banned for IPL 2010 after he failed to sign his renewal contract with the Rajasthan Royals. Instead of signing the contract, Jadeja was attempting to negotiate a better financial deal with some of the other IPL franchises. He was subsequently banned by the governing body for breaching players' guidelines.

Jadeja-Raina Controversy: During a tri-series in West Indies in 2013 a heated on-field exchange took place between Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. The incident happened after Raina dropped two catches off Jadeja’s bowling. The bowler was not amused by it as he rushed towards Raina and reportedly said, “Because you've lost the captaincy, you've also lost interest in fielding?” The duo later apologies for the behaviour.

Jadeja-Anderson Controversy: During India’s tour of England in 2014, Jadeja was involved in an ugly spat with fast bowler James Anderson. The Indian all-rounder was charged with a Level 2 offence by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Anderson also was handed a Level 3 offence for ‘abusing and pushing’ Jadeja.
