CSK are likely to keep Jadeja in No.1 retention, Gaikwad in No.2 retention, and Pathirana in No.3 retention, falling under the INR 18 Crore, INR 14 Crore, and INR 11 Crore slabs, respectively.

All the above-mentioned players are the most expected selection with Jadeja being a long-time CSK loyalist and former franchise captain, while Gaikwad is their current skipper and a future star. The management might also retain Sameer Rizvi, who falls under the uncapped player category. along with Dhoni, with two uncapped IPL Retentions permitted. However, CSK are spoilt for choices given the performances of Rachin Ravindra, and Mitchell Santner in New Zealand's historic win in India during the ongoing IND vs NZ Test Series 2024, where the Black Caps have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead over the hosts.
