Ravichandran Ashwin is about to script a massive record during India vs West Indies second Test match which will be held at the Sabina Park at Kingston in Jamaica. The series is a part of ICC World Test Championship. Ashwin is just eight wickets away from scripting a massive Test record. If the 32-year-old makes it into the playing XI and snaps eight wickets in a couple of innings, he will become the fastest to reach 350 wickets in Test cricket. Ashwin will thus equal Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan who also took 66 matches to achieve the feat. The veteran spinner did not make it to the cut in the first Test. Even Sunil Gavaskar was quite astonished by Ashwin missing out. “[The selection] astonished me,” Gavaskar said during commentary. “A man with that kind of record, especially against West Indies. He doesn’t find a place in this playing XI. That is stunning. Astonishing.”
Talking about Ravichandran Ashwin, he has played 11 matches in the Caribbean Island. Having picked up 60 wickets at a stunning average of 21.85. The last series India played in West Indies was back in 2016, he claimed 17 wickets and was the Man of the Series. Talking about India’s first Test match, India won the game by 318 runs. It was Jasprit Bumrah and Ajinkya Rahane who led the team to victory. While Jasprit Bumrah scalped a fifer in the second innings. Whereas, Ajinkya Rahane made 81 and 102 runs in the first and second innings respectively.
