Ravi Shastri is expected to continue in his role as the head coach of the Indian National Cricket Team when BCCI announce the names late on Friday evening. Shastri, who is in his second stint as the head coach, has been given a 45-day extension following the conclusion of his contract after ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. He was named in the six-man shortlist, including Mike Hesson, Tom Moody and Lalchand Rajput, selected by the Cricket Advisory Committee and is set to be interviewed over Skype. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce the name of the head coach at around 7 pm on Sunday. Team India Head Coach Selection: BCCI to Announce Name Today at 7 PM; Ravi Shastri Remains Front-Runner.
Shastri is currently with the Indian team in the Caribbean Island and just completed a double series victory over West Indies on their own soil. India first clean swept the T20I series before following it up with a 2-0 ODI series victory. Shastri was appointed as the head coach in 2017 after Anil Kumble’s resignation and has since led India to no 1 ranking in Tests and ODIs. Twitter, however, wasn’t excited about the prospect of Shastri continuing as the head coach and started calling him out on social media. Ravi Shastri? Not Certainly
@RaviShastriOfc is a loser of 2 World Cups in 2015 & 2019. If he is appointed as a Chief Coach of Indian Cricket Team again, I will surely stop following all Cricketers n I won't watch, won't play cricket in my life time. We don't want Ravi Shastri@BCCI @imVkohli @msdhoni

It was under Shastri that India completed a historic Test series victory in Australia and even won an ODI series in South Africa. The men in blue have also registered victories in Sri Lanka and West Indies and reached the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup. They narrowly lost the semi-final by 18 runs against New Zealand to crash out of the tournament.
