Ravi Ashwin, Delhi Capitals Spinner, Will Continue to Mankad Batsmen in IPL 2020
Ashwin represented Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 2019 season and was captain of the team as well. Ahead of the IPL 2020, he was traded to Delhi Capitals from Kings XI Punjab. Ashwin will now play under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy.
Ravichandran Ashwin mankaded Jos Buttler in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, and it turned out to be the biggest controversy of the season. The spinner faced criticism for mankading the batsman. However, he did receive support from some as well. With IPL 2020 a few months away, Ashwin has made it clear that he will have no hesitations in repeating controversial mode of dismissal. Replying to a question, “who are the potential batsmen you can Mankad this IPL?” Ashwin replied, “anyone that goes out of the crease.” It will be interesting to see whether any batsman provides him with the opportunity to mankad or not.
