It’s hardly been a couple of days that the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 begun and we already have a newsmaker. This time we have a player from the northernmost state of India, Jammu Kashmir which is currently playing their first match against Rajasthan in the Elite Group C fixture at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. Bowler Mohammed Mudhasir became the first bowler from Jammu and Kashmir to grab a hat-trick in the Ranji Trophy. The youngster went on to snap four wickets in four balls and went on to become the 77th player in Ranji Trophy to get a hat-trick.
Rajneesh Gubani was the last cricketer to have taken a hat-trick. Gubani claimed a hat-trick last He snapped a hat-trick against Delhi last year at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Talking about Mohammed Mudhasir, he went on to take the wickets of Chetan Bist, Tajinder Singh Dhillon, Rahul Chahar and Tanvir Mashart Ul-Haq. With this, he went on to be the second player in the history of Ranji Trophy to grab four wickets in four deliveries. Delhi’s Shankar Saini achieved the feat while playing against Himachal in 1988.
Talking about the match between Jammu Kashmir and Rajasthan, J&K won the toss and elected to field first. Chetan Bist went on to be the highest scorer from Rajasthan making 159 runs from 294 balls. Chetan Bist scored 24 fours throughout his innings. Ashok Maneria made 59 runs from 87 balls. The team put up a total of 379 runs. In reply, J&K was reduced to the score of 187 runs
